And at 36 he doesn’t look like slowing down. In fact he still moves like as if he was in his 20s. He really takes care of his body. Curry’s longevity is crazy

He is definitely slowing down and becoming inconsistent. His performance was lackluster in the second half of last season, and most of the Olympics until the final 2 games. Objectively, while still effective, he is no longer the consistent baller that lands 3 pointers while being double teamed every night.

I noticed a small detail about the chart you showed at 6:02. Was that the standings from last season? Memphis actually had a worse record than what was shown. Lol! Anyway, great content. As a big Blake Griffin fan, especially during the Lob City era, I really enjoyed it. No one could have predicted Steph Curry's incredible rise back then, especially in 2014 when the Clippers defeated the Warriors in the first round. The following year, though, Steph's breakout completely changed the game. His playmaking skills are so underrated and was outshined by his legendary shooting skills.

Ellis was not traded for Klay👇🏽 “…. New ownership spent a season evaluating the entire organization before making a series of decisions to reset the franchise. One of those decisions came on March 13, 2012, when Ellis was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a deal that brought 7-foot center Andrew Bogut to Golden State. The move was not popular - Monta was a fan favorite - but it was necessary if the Warriors were to become a contender. With guidance from advisor Jerry West and others, Lacob and then-GM Bob Myers reached the same conclusion as Ellis had 29 months earlier. The Ellis-Curry backcourt was not the way - certainly, once 6-foot-6 Klay Thompson was drafted in June 2011….”

Not everyone who lights it up in the NCAA, translates to the NBA. Adam Morrison, Jimmer Ferdertte, there are others. It's easy to talk about why he should have been drafted higher, with hindsight. But at the time, yeah even I doubt you were like he should go number 1.

I don't like the narative that steph changed the league of the 3 ball. It was already heading that way. The warriors championship in 2015 was the turning point for the league, making other teams realise it was an legitimate strategy that could win championships. Maybe you can say steph and the warriors accelerated the process of the 3 ball league. But it's not like there wasnt 3 point shooting teams before that. 09 Magic were a 3 point shooting team, probably the first team to go heavily into the strategy. The magic were also one of the only teams that invested in an analytics department at the time. If that team had won the championship that year instead of the lakers, maybe the league would of turned into a 3 ball league much earlier. The league today would still become a 3 point league even without stephen curry and the warriors. It was heading that way. Teams simply would of done the math eventually once they get their own analytics department in.
@dragonzodiac78Ай бұрын
We know he didn’t invent the 3 pointer. Ya, it was heading there…NOT TO THE DEGREE IT WAS UNTIL THE WARRIORS DID IT…..they proved its success& the rest rethought their strategies because THEY HAD TO U don’t like to give them much credit, but it’s FACTS someone was gonna do it, it just turned out to be THEM!

I’ll never understand why MIN drafted 2 point guards 😭
@Shakester713 ай бұрын
Well, they needed a point guard. Rubio was 18 at the time of the draft and the plan was to keep him in Spain for at least 1 more season to avoid them having to pay $8M to buy him out of his current team. They figured to draft Flynn as well then when Rubio gets there, to trade Flynn. But to be fair to Flynn, he looked good during his rookie year, but needed hip surgery the following year and that affected his athleticism and his decline began.

On one hand you're saying that Dteph Curry"s shooting has brought up a whole new variety of future basketball stars and on the other hand you're saying that kids are now lobbing balls from as far of a distance as they possibly can trying to Imitate Stephen Currrys shot, keep in mind with no skill or any care for proper basketball fundamentals. How is that any good for the game? ... old school basketball was much easier to watch and way more enjoyable since it held people's attention to the game better than this new ago of basketball. Just my opinion

Steph gets the least foul calls out of any NBA superstar because he doesn't abuse your so called "soft" NBA rules. He's also gotten a lot stronger over the past decade and his ankle problem doesn't bother him anymore.
@GWrench93 ай бұрын
@@welsonma3911 KZbin will probably block the link but cbssports did a good article on this. Warriors were second worse in attacking the basket.....you get foul calls when you drive in. Also, 83% of his shots are recorded as open or wide open......that's due to screens. The soft rules come with not allowing hand checking. Go look at how many non shooting vs shooting fouls. People need to stop being a fanboy for him (or any player) and look at the stats without being biased.
@welsonma39113 ай бұрын
@@GWrench9 Nah Curry is one of the best PG rim finishers this decade along with other greats like kyrie. He doesn't drive as much now cause he's older and has younger teammates to do that, but he's got a crazy core and can finger roll floaters while falling down lmao. Even back in 2014-2018, when he was driving much more to the rim, he never got many foul calls cause he plays a cleaner no contact type of ball. Idk if you've noticed, but steph isn't small anymore. He used to be weak and was more of a liability on defense, but he's way stronger now than he was a decade ago. He's also the least open man on any court. Constantly doubled if he has the ball. Permanent defender without the ball. When he does get the ball, he has to either iso a hard contested stepback 3, or he has inches to shoot off a pass. He's one of the only players in the league that is often top guarded. Fastest and most accurate release in the NBA right now so it makes sense. In hindsight, steph should've been no.1 or no.2 in the draft. You can compare his career to anyone in his draft class and it's not even close lmao.
