Shaq was most spot on when he said steph curry has ruined the game. His fraudulent success tricked everyone into thinking shooting nothing but 3s is how you win. It isn’t unless your teammates defend, rebound, facilitate, and lead for you like curry's have fir him. Curry is a role player because he's an average player with one skill.

He's an avg player with one skill. He ranks 47th in apg. He's barely in the top 20 ppg rankings, and it's primarily because he scores half his points from 3. Without the 3, curry wouldn't avg 20 ppg. That's not true for every legit superstar player ever.

The reason Steph can be underrated (although he probably isn't anymore) is that he doesn't have much of a superstar ego. Letting KD to thrive, letting Green to run the offense. The story where he scored 0 in a game in college is really telling. Ultimately his greatest legacy is not the shots or mvps or records. It's taking a team that has been a non factor for decades and turning it into a dynasty. Only MJ, maybe Duncan can claim a similar impact. He changed the game but he really changed the Warriors as a club, singlehandedly.

The difference between MJ and Steph imo is, Steph is approachable and genuinely cares about people. He really is a nice guy and family man. I truly love that about him. He actually also cares about the kids who look up to him. He sets an example. We need more players to do that for kids, husbands and fathers…. Oh and he just happens to be one of the (in a list of others from different eras) greatest basketball players who ever played the game.

He rode on the backs of his teammates who defended tatum and brown in ways he couldn't, rebounded over an injured robert williams in ways he couldn't, and scored in ways he couldn't later in the series. Wiggins was the real fmvp. He played more 4th qtr minutes and had a bigger impact on the games they won than curry did. 2022 was another example of how curry needs more help around him than any legit superstar ever. @columbus-10-10 he's an avg player with 1 skill who plays like a girl. Only men can be king. Curry is a queen. That's why he's not the leader of the team. He needed permission from the real leader of the warriors, draymond, to give that speech before game 7 against the kings. His speech was so effective that the team had their worst game of the series. They only won cause Fox had a broken finger, and monk had an off shooting night. This year's warriors team will finish 7th in the standings and lose in the play-in, just like last year.

@TheMmi43 he's never been the reason the warriors won. He's always needed more help around him than every legit superstar in the league. If the salary cap didn't go up 35% in in the 2016 off-season, the warriors wouldn't have been able to aquire Durant without giving up klay, draymond, or curry. They weren't going to do that. That means Durant would've stayed in Okc, and the cavs would've won it all in 2017 and 2018. And, the warriors would've never aquire Wiggins because they needed to trade Durant to do it. That means they don't win in 2022. Curry should only have that 2015 fluke ring. He's an avg player with one skill who has never carried the warriors, even when he scored 43 in Boston, or 50 is sac.

IMO one problem with the whole Steph vs Magic "who is the better point guard" discussion is how the league has changed and how the two of them approach their roles on the team in very different ways. Steph is what they used to call a "combo guard" -- a combination of point guard and shooting guard. He uses Draymond as a kind of "point forward" when, sometimes, he's in shooting guard mode. I'll go further and state that nowadays offensive positioning on the floor is so fluid and expansive that the old "five position" BB descriptions hardly apply -- you know -- point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center. Nowitzki and others pioneered the big man 3-point shot...Steph made a new kind of guard...Pippen first, and then LeBron charted the "point forward," and so on (Man, LeBron can play any position!). It makes it hard to compare NBA eras and determine "top 5" or "top 10" players ever. I love the great players of today, but I can tell you one thing: the great players of yesteryear would have adapted to today's game and been just as good. They would have adapted through better conditioning, developed even more intense defense, learned to become better 3-point shooters, all the way around. Jordan, who showed he could shoot the 3 vs Portland in that final, would today be a great 3-point shooter.

The people in GOAT convo or even top 10 are two way players and they're mostly big, forwards, centers and two sg who. It's hard to compare Steph to them, cuz as great as Steph's offense is, he isn't a good defender like his peers. But the thing is a small guard, who is smaller and weaker than most manages to be in the convo for GOAT or top 10, shows how good of a player he really is.

People who say Steph isn't a Goat are clueless and definitely not real basketball fans. The only other players that had such an immense impact on the game itself were Jordan, Kobe and LeBron. And now Steph is one of them. Steph turned GSW into one of the most profitable teams in the NBA - a frigging dynasty from a team that used to be mediocre at best! Steph changed the NBA single handedly. Steph changed the frigging game of basketball, again - single handedly. How many people can you name that have done the same throughout the history of basketball. Yeah that's right - Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Stephen Curry.

I've watched both Magics and Currys whole careers. Magic was my favorite player growing up and Curry has been my favorite since Magic retired. The craziest thing is that they both completely revolutionized the way the game is played. Magic was the greatest passer that has ever played and Curry is the best shooter. The 2 biggest things that comparisons impossible is that their playing styles are so different that you can't directly compare stats, and also the rules have changed so much that the game is completely different. I mean imagine Magic running showtime now, that would be crazy. On the flip side, everybody thinks the old NBA would have been to tough physically for Steph, but I disagree. There were lots of really successful off the ball shooters then. Allen Houston, Dale Ellis, Ray Allen... but the thing that they were more Klay Thompsonish. I think about what would have defenses done with Steph runnin around knockin down 38ft'ers off the dribble at 40% in the age of the dominant big man. There wasn't anybody even close to that level of shooter in the league then.

Shots made from behind the center court line should be worth at least 4 pts, maybe even 5. How can it still be 3 pts when it's way beyond the 3 pt line? I believe this should be the next rule change, or evolution, in order to make the game more exciting. Suddenly, a 4 or 5 pt lead isn't a two possession game any longer. Imagine all the insanity this would create in the final seconds of a close game. We'll see how guys & coaches adapt to it, especially Steph.

I saw a video a while back (I think it was an older @bballbreakdown video?) about how Steph's shooting mechanics are remarkably consistent and pure just from like the diaphragm up. Ostensibly, his lower body can be doing whatever, completely off balance, kicking his legs; he can be drifting. His follow through can be just crumpling into a ball. But he has this uncanny practiced ability to get his shoulders square to the basket mid-shot like he has a gyroscope in his torso. It was interesting.

Its hard to compare steph with the greatest point guards, cause its not what we see a point guard doing. In the traditional sense he is not. If he plays the classic PG role he is too turnover prone and is not strategic enough. However he does it the gravity way. He still gets a ton of players indirectly open, while shooting on an insane clip. Nobody ever done it this way, so a comparison is hard, but i would say he is top 5 in PGs… but probably him and Magic the best in uniquely incomparable ways.

@@antonquirgst2812 It doesn't matter how much "better" they've supposedly gotten. The original Dream Team would STILL dominate over these Olympic teams today. Everyone always seems to want to claim that players now are all better than they were back then, like players (now) are breaking all kinds of records that were set by previous generations. Need I remind you that the original Dream Team had the NBA's ALL-TIME Leader in both steals AND assists? The original Dream Team had Michael Jordan. No need to say much else about that. The original Dream Team had Magic AND Bird. In fact, think about the caliber of talent on THAT team and tell me which modern team could (HONESTLY) match up with them.
@antonquirgst2812
@antonquirgst2812 7 күн бұрын
@@kalon511 this dream team could most certainly go against them. And for the first part of ur argument: you dont know that. This dream team had the all time leading scorer on their roster. You don't know that the original dream team would dominate. Thats an assumption.

@kalon511 6 күн бұрын
@@antonquirgst2812 Then, I'm guessing you wouldn't mind explaining why Steph Curry had to bail them out by HIMSELF? I'm MORE than sure that if Michael Jordan had spent more than 20 years in the league, that scoring record would've been a bit difficult to beat. There's no telling how many more championships he would've won. The original Dream Team beat the teams THEY were playing against by rather large margins. Magic Johnson wasn't exactly a "trash talker", but Bird and Jordan were. They could ALSO - BACKUP their "trash talk" for the most part. With guys who had the ability to tell you BEFOREHAND where they were going to shoot from or how many points they'd score on you at any given time, how can you (HONESTLY) make the claim that this team would stand a chance against the original Dream Team? Did you even take the time to watch and notice how THIS Olympic team was playing defense? How do you think they GOT in trouble to the point whereas Curry had to save them? If I'm not mistaken, those French announcers said CURRY was "the devil that kills them", not that team.
@antonquirgst2812
@antonquirgst2812 6 күн бұрын
@@kalon511 once again: the fact that the original dream team beat their opponents by rather large margins is due to the fact their competition was weaker rel. to them. (Thus the large margins!) Their comp. was weaker rel. to them than the recents dream teams competition was/is to this dream team. You calim this is due to this dream team being worse than the original one. I am claiming this is due to this dream teams competition being stronger (aka the world has caught up a lot since the 90s in terms of skill. Anargument furhter strengened by the fact that there are more europian players in the nba than ever before). I am saying I dont believe the original dream team was so much better if at all than this team and the fact that they were struggeling is not the resault of this teams weaker line up, rather than their competition being better. (for example Serbia having the best all around BB of the world on their roster).

With those two talents, they're both up there. Its a matter of preference. They both gonna destroy the opposing guard. Just, how you want it? They both can shoot lights out, they both harsh on opposing ankles, they both can finish at the rim against bigs. Itd be dope if their assist numbers were a bit higher tho, but whatever. Enjoy watching them play. Definitely going to be missed when they decide to retire.
