You never see young children really interested in the freshwater or saltwater fish keeping hobby now. I'm the only kid I know who knows that a goldfish isn't just one of those orange feeder fish you put in a bowl that costs 25 cents. My friends who are the same age as me don't know an oranda from a telescope from a jikin, much less the difference between a canister and a HOB filter, how to control pH levels, and what the nitrogen cycle is. Videos like these have really helped me understand real fish keeping and it's great that you're introducing your sons and daughters now. Thanks for posting, Joey :)

+Sergei Woen I had two fish tanks, and in one I had guppies and ghost/Amano shrimp. The guppy tank was infested with this stupid hook worm and all the guppies died before I had a chance to medicate them. The shrimp were fine, but I had to get ride of everything from the guppy tank. :C I was really worried because I had no where to put my shrimp but in the betta tank until I could figure something out. I heard that bettas like to eat them but I didn't have a choice. My betta definitely saw them. He followed them around curiously and very interested so I figured the shrimp would be goners by the time I came home from work. But when I came back, he had left them alone and they were actually all swimming together. It's been about a month ow and no problems. The ghosts are even carrying eggs now which is cool! He's just a very docile guy I guess. :D Good candidate for a community tank!

Isn't rocks and wood bad for betas? That's at least what I heard. I have a beta myself I think they are awesome! And your daughter has the same name as me!! I don't know if it is spelled alike though

Hailey Darling no the tandons from the wood is benifital for the tank and fish. The wood also gives them a place to hide. Rocks are just fine for them as well.

The only thing you need to be a bit careful of is any sharp or pointy edges that could tear their fins. As with artificial decorations you can just remove any sharp bits with a nail file and wash them off. My Betta has a little dragon skull in with him and I had to file down some of the pointier bits first, you can do the same with any natural decor too.

This warms my heart! I actually found your channel because my kids told me they wanted fish! They never had any before, but their knowledge on it was amazing. I’d love to see you do some projects with your kids. I was hoping to do the same with mine, but kid friendly DIY projects are hard to come by in this hobby

My god, you 3 look like triplets! So nice seeing young kids learning the proper way to care for even the smallest of animals.
