Inspired by the 52 chapter , 19th century poem of he same name by Walt Whitman. This was the favorite song of the late Ann Waychoff, the Mother of the Nightwish Army. The studio version ,at the end, has a spoken poem section which was written by Tuomas in an ode to the original. Those words are what is being scrolled across the big screen.

There is a extended studio version of this song with a poem as a tribute to Whitman made by Tuomas, the keyboard player and the mastermind of nightwish. This was actually from their movie. G to Em was a plot piece in *Spoiler*which the main character (a composer with dementia) is trying to finish his final work. eventually he couldn't remember the key change. His daughter would finish it when she realized her name was the signature Key, Gem or G to Em*

Until the Breakdown hits you with a 10 ton hammer it is all fun and games. But then the slow chugging monster with the machine gun riffing takes over. And for every Metal Head this lights up the day. Awesome….Imho one of the best songs ever. Sometimes the sky is piano black…. Floor Jansen, First of Her Name, Queen of the Valkyries and Stonehenge, Lady of Nightwish and Protector of our Metal Realm. Long may she reign. Bow, mortal !

The studio version of this song contains 4 parts. Only parts 1, 2 and 3 are suitable for live performance. The text readable on the video screen behind the stage shows the text of part 4 called "Love". The last verse is the most important. "G and e minor" are parallel musical scales exactly the same pitches like two sides of one medal. Hapiness and sadness are coexisting parts of our life. Tumoas described this lyric as celebration of life with all it's beautiful and dark sides simultaneously. Djent is very chuggy, kind of like the second half of this song, but it's not Pantera-y. It's it's own kind of sound, and usually some abnormal and different time signatures involved. Meshuggah is kind of the original djent. VOLA would also be considered djent, but they're a little lighter. VOLA is fucking amazing, if you wanted to do a reaction to one of their songs, I'd recommend Straight Lines
