I think the metal community can sometimes be a little elitist and protective when they see outsiders maybe trying to use it. I mean, heavy metal has always been a genre of outcasts weary of outsiders. So, I do think that metal fans put up walls. But, I also think that as soon as we see that intentions are pure and that someone really wants to learn about the music, we accept everyone and then can't really shut up about what subgenres to listen to and what bands to listen to and all that. I remember back in 2008 when my brothers were at my cousins house and Psychosocial came on TV and they were blown away by this song. They went to a music store and bought " All Hope is Gone " album the same week. Then they told me they have found a new band and showed me the videos of " Psychosocial" and " Dead memories" and i was blown away by their music. Thats how me and my brothers discovered Slipknot. We were teens back then.

At no point should you ever let someone else control your musical taste. And with that people can like more than one type of music. There are so many wonderful songs from all genres of music. You do what your heart tells you to do and fuck anyone who says otherwise! Most people are not going to care how you look as long as they can see how the music they love affects you. In my experience, the metal community is some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, contrary to what other people believe. With that being said there are “elitists” that will think even though you’ve been listening to metal for 20+ years, if you’re not listening to THEIR favorite bands, you’re just shit to them. So I say to you and Amy, welcome! On a side note, I really like your reactions.. but 7 ads in a video that’s not even 15 minutes long is a bit outrageous. It almost made it not watchable in my opinion.

Deftones, Deftones, Deftones... The metal community is definitely hard to break in to, but once you do it’s a great community. People get so freaked out about metal concerts or even mosh pits when I’ve never seen any issues at the dozens and dozens of shows I’ve been to and for mosh pits, they can be brutal, but if someone falls people go out of their way to help them up. Everyone supports each other.

Just a couple of their most recent lineup changes. Percussionist/backup vocalist Chris Fehn (the one with the long nose) filed a lawsuit against the band this year and was fired because of it. He is claiming that he is owed money from other entities the band owns that he was unaware of. There are no plans to replace him at the moment. Base Player Paul Grey died of a drug overdose back in 2010. He was eventually replaced by Donnie Steele. Drummer Joey Jordison was fired in 2013 and replaced by Jay Weinberg in 2014. I am sure there have been other lineup changes over the years. These are just the ones I know of.

Donnie Steele (one of the original members of Slipknot from the early years of thier formation) just filled in as a touring member, he never actually replaced Paul. He was officially replaced by Allesandro Venturella.
