In the 70's when I lived in Santa Clara I had a friend who fished for a living out of Santa Cruz. He lived in a motor home in the harbor parking lot close to where his 40' boat was docked .If I showed up I would just sleep on the boat. He always let me tag along and help when fishing for albacore, or bottom fish , rock cod, etc. Best part was, he knew everyone in the harbor, and when we came back in, there was never a dull moment from the time we got off that old boat till heading back out at 5 AM the next morning with just a few hours sleep in between. I'm 79 now, laid back in Minnesota. Got a lot of fond memories of the California coast! Thanks for showing me your nice little home on the water!

When I lived in the East Bay I knew multiple people who had house boats/boats and would do trips down the coast to Central America in the winters. Definitely better than having a shitty apartment that costs more than the boat itself each year.
@sailingvesseljulianne82303 жыл бұрын
That extremely dangerous as house boats are not stable and if or when hit by a 5-10+ foot wave, the boat would flip and unlike a sailboat that rights itself, flat bottom house boats would not and eventually sink. Also winter is the worst time to have a boat out at sea. It’s “hurricane” season in the pacific. (November - April.). You do not want to be sailing in Mexican or further south waters.

Try tying or sewing weights in your tablecloth. You could just make a little pocket and slip a rock or something metal inside. Maybe some of those sail shaped awnings would be better than an umbrella. You can have them on a swivel fitting so they move with the wind. I’ve seen restaurants using several at different heights, angles and even difficult colors. They look beautiful and functional.

I lived and worked on a 45' Grand Banks on San Francisco Bay in early 80's. Was fun to take the dingy out once a week for trash run day and it was rules to water ski before breakfast and after dinner. Never really nailed shalom skiing though! I serviced the engine room every 12 hours (in my bikini as it was so hot down there) and cooked, cleaned, served beverages and sanded and refinished the wood railing. Almost rented a gorgeous houseboat in Sausalito at that time, but $650/mo. rent was alittle steep for me at that time. This looks like a great way to live and enjoy life! Love #boatlife! Nice job on your boat, good luck to you and thank you for sharing! Cute pup too!
