I totally agree with the idea of doing home schooling as opposed to public schooling….even better is private schooling…specially if the private school is known for being real good…public school teachers are terrible, some are good I am sure. Bullying is another reason that makes public schools bad…the bullying comes from all directions, from the administration, the teachers and the other students….public schools should not be judged by their success stories rather they should be held accountable for their failures….one can accomplish in two hours in a home schooling setting what the public schools do in 6 hours…for my taste i much rather live in a 3000 square feet house, send my 1 son to private school and travel during summer time…

Yep not all teenagers are rebellious. I’m 64 but when I was 12 our family of 7 traveled in a VW bus from May to August. When weather was pleasant we slept in our sleeping bags under the stars. When it was raining, we all slept in the bus. Our dad had made a plywood “bed” to fit across the tops of seats. Mom and dad slept on that, oldest siblings underneath it on the floor of bus, youngest ones in the back trunk which was uncomfortably warm, since the engine was actually underneath the trunk. We made a huge loop around the U.S. We still reminisce about that summer of 1970. So many memories. This was without A/C too.

It's called teaching kids discipline and appreciate all the simple things in life. Not like your bebeinJapan culture..."give children everything they want" type of society. These kids are disciplined, well behaved, adventurous, enjoy learning, and kind. These are not your typical overweight, lazy, failing, nasty kids sitting in front of computers playing games all day. The parents "paid" for the Class A Motorhome...not the kids. Good parents decide where they sleep. Challenging circumstances are good for kids...they learn from it...they learn to appreciate simple things in life.

@user-vm5ud4xw6n Жыл бұрын
I’m assuming by your comment that you’re getting pushback from folks who don’t think you should take your kids out on the road. They are probably just envious because they never did it. Home school kids tend to be better rounded, they learn more about the world around them and one family I know of purposefully visits places that have charity outreaches so their children are exposed to helping others from an early age. The children are taught contributing to the family unit and they also learn that they don’t get their own way every time. Mom is there for them instead of in a job keeping her away from home for hours on end and their son has dad teaching him small lessons that will stand him in good stead some day. Brother and sister get along great (it’s not always hearts and roses). They have their ups and downs, it would be foolish to think they didn’t. Their daughter is learning that she may have to leave her friends but she will get to see them again since mom and dad meet up with those kids parents frequently. They are healthy children and there isn’t any of the clinginess you frequently see in little ones. I was getting ready to say I was looking forward to seeing your truck when it’s complete. I have frequently heard from people who live their lives on the road that they also received much criticism from friends and family. Don’t let it stop you! Grandma and grandpa can get their own caravan and come with you if they are so worried about seeing the grandkids!

I love this story so much ! I fell in love with the idea of full time RVing in 2011. I had become disabled and was spending lots of time on line watching many families taking off to explore our beautiful country. I loved the idea of road school too. But due to my illness it was just poor timing. Our youngest was in middle school. And my husband had taken on extra work to make up for my lost salary. So for us it didn’t happen. But I have watched and enjoyed seeing families have precious time together. Before I knew it my youngest was 17 and off to college. She is one year away from becoming a doctor. We get to travel about 4 times to year to amazing places with her when she does internships. We did buy a class A and she almost stayed in it for an internship but unfortunately I became ill and an air B & B worked out that time. But I was overjoyed that she wanted to stay in the Rv. Then she and a friend stayed in it once. I would still be very open to traveling. But we started a husky rescue. And I haven’t found a place where we could stay with lots of huskies, lol. Currently we are planning a big move to live closer to our daughter. And it’s in a very sought after area. So at least we can live close to her. But nothing could possibly compare to being with family everyday. When we go rent a house for a month in nice places when our daughter is working at a hospital we enjoy every second. Her days off are spent sightseeing with us. We missed the boat on going with our young children. Please don’t let that happen to you. Time with the children is so short. 18 years goes by in a flash. It’s so worth having that time together. You can always come back to the sticks and bricks house. But you will never have the opportunity to be with your family everyday seeing all the sights if you don’t seize the opportunity. Once they are off to college, grad school and working in their chosen career it’s just too late. You might get awesome vacations a few times a year witch I highly encourage you to do. Those young school age years get away from you. And road school has got to be the best school in my opinion. The children learn first hand by visiting every possible place in the country to learn about all subjects. Road school children are so smart! Just do it. If you say I can’t afford it look into it. More jobs are becoming remote. And you can work a few hours a day and spend the rest of the time enjoying life with your children. Couples you too. I have always said couples need to travel away together for a while away from family to learn to lean on each other. And the single person it’s definitely possible. Who knows you might meet that special person to travel with out at some amazing place. And please if you go get on KZbin and tell us about it. Those of us who just didn’t make it on the road. We want to hear all about it. Stay safe and remember time with family is the most important thing second is seeing this gorgeous place God made for us. God bless ! Leslye

We have a trickle charge solar for our fridge etc. but the cost of installing solar didn’t prove cost effective. We have a camping membership that includes full hook up sites so we typically plan our routes & choose those parks to stay at.

I have ALWAYS wanted a bigger play house and/or a tree house. I remember drawing ideas of how i wanted the outside and inside to look. I wanted 2 floors with enough room to have sleepovers with my friends. I day dreamed about this idea and I BEGGED my dad to build me one. The best he could do was set me up a tent in the back yard. I still LOVED the compensation and spent sooo many weekends out there with my friends and we would sleep in it and everything. I did this for years and in 2 seperate backyards from when we moved to a new house. My true love turned into tiny houses and RVs. We used to go camping in tents all the time as a family and one time my friends family had a trailer and I was soooo jealous!!! I am currently 37 years old and im still OBSESSED with these types of lifestyles. I would LOVE to travel and find an Air BNB or something just to have a little taste because unfortunately it's still a dream for me. Now that I have 3 kids I double guess myself... but I have been talking about traveling somewhere and renting a few nights in. Tiny house or something like this for YEARS and I made a promise to myself to at least make that dream come true. ❤❤

@Dragonfly_808 ай бұрын
All these people hating on the parents. Why? What a unique living experience. Privacy is important but with the things our kids are exposed to today, this is an ideal arrangement in my opinion. It looks like there are plenty of places to keep personal items and clothes. It’s an RV life. Downsizing is how it should be done. Stop with the criticisms of the parents. How many parents are willing to rearrange life to be closer to their kids rather than having a computer or video game take control of the parenting?! It can’t always be easy, but the time they have together is priceless. God bless this family.

@Just Be Both are technically camping, as are rustic cabins. I assume you are referring to tent camping. Tent camping is absolutely more "roughing it" than we do! I also would not tell people we are fulltime campers, we say we are fulltime RVers. Its not vacationing 24/7 either.

This looks like a lot of fun and love the RV…..my question is how does your daughter feel about really not having her own space…she looks like maybe 12 or 13? Hard for me to tell. I know teen girls sometimes really like their own space so just wondering how she felt or how she thinks she may feel in another year or so as she gets toge an older teen.

No concerns for the sons? They all need their own space. The eldest son doesn't have any privacy, as he sleeps on a couch in the living room. If they're happy, cool, but don't be sexist.

First two years in our motorhome and last year in cabins, petsitting, and airbnbs throughy the US, Canada, and we just completed 6 months in Asia. We miss our motorhome and will switch back to it in a month. My kids are high schoolers and my oldest (who slept on the couch) always says he lives better than billionaires because he gets to see so many beautiful places year round. When I was a kid I always wanted to do that. It looks great! 🙂 I wonder if it bothers the oldest kid that he doesn't have his own little space? I'm an introvert and need my own little "safe space" that I don't have to share with others like a bed or chair where I can have my own comfortable blanket, pillow, book, charger, etc. I think I would not like a clear shower like that because of 5 people all getting up and around in the morning. I know in my big family of 10 there would be a person in the shower, 1 on the toilet and several at the sink. It was busy in the mornings getting around. Thankfully we had shower curtains for privacy. It really does look good though. I would have loved to do that with my kids. Such of a blessing. I love your happiness, freedom and closeness. 💜
@sojourning_smiths Жыл бұрын
He is quite an introvert but also a minimalist. He has his own spaces for his things and we all respect each others belongings & space. If someone is in the shower no one else needs to be in there, we have a second toilet.
