I haven't watched the entire thing yet, but I think the main problem with Paul is that he needs the support of a professional hoarding team. You can't really expect random people who like cleaning to be able to change everything in a household just by chucking things out. I know that's the premise of the series, but as a person who gets professional help with cleaning my surroundings, I realize how important it is to actually understand where it's coming from. It's so much more complicated than throwing things away. Yes, his behavior is shitty. That's why he needs a professional to work this through.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Penny did the best she could have in that situation, I think the yard sale was a great idea and I intend to try it on my own mother hah.😅 He definitely does need a whole team of professionals to teach him how to maintain this new lifestyle, environment, and also really tackle the psychological element of it all. Otherwise the pattern sadly continues. I stayed to watch the end because I was curious of the outcome and I’m quite surprised. So far, ‘their living room is clutter free and they plan to sell more of Paul’s stuff’. Hope the best for them honestly, especially Elaine. I know hoarding is a subset of ocd and I have ocd myself but I find hoarding to be quite selfish, which I’m saying from lived experience with a serious hoarder.

I feel bad for Shareen in the beginning. It takes a lot of bravery to ask for help to begin with, and Hayleys unmanaged ocd is making this task even more embarrassing then it had to be. Shes being judged for her house, her cat, and even possibly being poisoned by Hayley mixing chemicals. Her house isnt that horrible and wouldnt be that hard of a task for most cleaners (a big job, but not impossible or something to complain about.) I hope Shareen talking to Hayley and giving her her perspectives helped Hayley realize her ocd really isnt managed well at all. Its ok to have joy in cleaning, but extreme germphobia can be debilitating and feeding the ocd in this way is unsustainable. However if she does keep help cleaning peoples homes in can be therapeutic in a positive way since she will have to be exposed to things that are dirtier then her home will ever get. Pauls situation is also not being handled correctly, hoarding needs to be addressed with a therapist and the way Penny is attempting to deal with it is likely to make him just fill the house right back up again. No dig on penny though, she is sweet, just this is not the best way to handle this and it shows with him shutting down and running away.

OCD is the inability to resist compulsions to do certain behaviours or actions, often in strict order. There's often fear that something bad will happen if you don't., Doesn't have to be cleaning although that's common

Taking someone with a mental health condition and having them clean the house of someone else with a mental health condition, with no mental health professionals in sight, is an amazing idea for a tv show

Yes, the young woman who is so obsessive about cleaning products and wears a lot of make up in those high heels(I don’t see how you can work in those things?), you need to research cleaning products, dear!!! You inhale those fumes, and they are very toxic!!! and you can burn your lungs, etc. I am 75 years old and I have COPD… You can look that up on the Internet… It has to do with the lungs and breathing… my ex-husband, I remember was cleaning a wall in a large store with muriatic acid, and he burned his lungs!!! And we have to breathe the air in around us with all these vehicles, etc.. I think you may catch my drift here, yes?! This was a really good video, all of you!!! I am a bit of a hoarder from years past, but I have really come along way!! Thank you very much to any and all here!!!! ❤

I think she is one of those people who loves/is addicted to certain chemical smells. Like gasoline. The thing about that is, usually people warn you “You can’t breathe it in every day, it’s bad for you!”

Why the need to say such a unwarranted comment.The person was clearly asking for "HELP".A genuine query! Nothing nice or constructive to say.Keep sctump. A pointless remark.But clearly,if it made you feel better & funny.Then good luck to you.Also stated. They.have 'MS'.It was a genuine enquiry.

🌸 Shereen is suffering from depression She needs to try clean diet and exercise then she will keep home tidy again if left untreated the flat will return to dump in a month or two. She must take pride in her home and invite people around as this will keep her on her toes
@sadiaali52739 ай бұрын
I agree, she needs to stop isolating herself, it will motivate her to clean home when people come round.

Penny should start a cleaning company and monetize her "illness". They call it "illness", I call it talent. She's damn talented, look at that house, so clean.
@Chiller-pc1dv7 ай бұрын
OCD is an illness, there is nothing positive about it, it is awful to live with. I have OCD myself and you saying that is incredibly hurtful. And btw, monetizing it and performing those compulsions is just going to make the disorder worse. OCD almost lead me into a mental hospital because I wanted to hurt myself, I wash my hands till they crack and bleed. It's not this cute, quirky little personality trait you seem to be treating it as.

I'm amazed at how people can be so cleanliness minded in their homes and yet wear their shoes inside. Just think of all the ick your shoes touch each day, and that touches your floors and carpets.

The title should be "when a person with mental health issues meets another with mental health issues". Hoarding, obsessive cleaning, depression, are all medical conditions that need proper psychological treatment.

My mom's coworker would obsessively clean their workplace (not what she was hired for) and it interfered with her actual work productivity and her job security to the point where it didn't make sense to have her work there in the first place--and I mean to emphasize that the place was already clean by regulatory standards. It turned out that she had some kind of medical condition with her thyroid that caused the such erratic behavior. Medical intervention pretty much stopped her peculiar (seemingly) OCD with cleaning. I'm sharing this story, not to say that's what is going on in the lives of the people shown in this episode, but because in some cases these kinds of behaviors can damage some peoples' lives, or the lives of their loved ones, subsequently. In some cases, medical intervention may help people to find a new kind of control over their own lives, rather than feeling controlled by the drive to clean obsessively. For any people out there struggling with this kind of thing, you may be able to work with medical professionals to pinpoint and manage these behaviors if you feel they're negatvely affecting your life.
@samaraisnt4 ай бұрын
how could a thyroid cause cleaning…? I don’t even know how I would begin to look that up, let alone get a diagnosis. Seems almost impossible tbh
