That sounds VERY right for plenty of couples with assets and kids! Not even joking but broke people divorces are pretty simple when no one owns a single piece of property, business, etc and kids usually go to mothers unless it's fought which all court cases take money and broke people can't pay for long so they settle em quickly. People with assets fight over said assets I've seen it PLENTY of times last a decade! My mom's friend only just settled a 6yr divorce proceeding where the only assets was 1 house, and his money accounts from military he was fighting to not disclose. But the kids were grown so that wasn't even a factor nor was she even fighting for the house, others? They fight over every single thing the woman wants every dime she can get plus every minute she can take with the kids from him which also adds into more money for her via child support, and he's fighting against her on all those fronts. 5yrs is so normal in those cases.

We are really great friends now and it's because he did tell me his kids come first and he will never leave his wife no matter what. That helped me accept my place.
