She did alot in terms of being The first Blue Eyed Soul Singer in Pop. To many she kicked the door open for alot of Blue Eyed Soul Singers in Europe. Amy Winehouse (RIP), Duffy, Natasha Bedingfield, Adele, Ruthanne and Nadine Coyle of Girls Aloud. She created controversy when she refused to play a Segregated Audience in South Africa and then she also went to The BBC (British Broadcasting Company) to get them to do a Special called Ready Steady Go: The Sounds Of Motown. She did the first Interracial Duet with Martha & The Vandellas with Wishin' & Hopin'. One of her associates was Patricia Cole Arnold aka PP Arnold whose first big break was as an Ikette.

Dusty is my FAVORITE female singer that was part of the "BRITISH INVASION" that started after the Beatles hit the US for the first time. I have all her albums that she ever recorded LOVE her voice, her style, she was SO unique. She has a lot of songs that will just make you cry. One of my favorites of hers is "I ONLY WANT TO BE WITH YOU," one of her first hits in the U.S. in 1964, She also performed on the Ed Sullivan Show. Beautiful lady, who sadly passed away a few years ago. Check out more of her songs and also the one she did with the PET SHOP BOYS "What Have I Done to Deserve This,"

She was a huge Tamla Motown fan and was influential in introducing TM artists to UK audiences. She was deported from South Africa for playing to a non segregated audience, anti racist in actions as well as words. I believe she also played a part in getting Led Zeppelin signed to Atlantic Records (her american label at the time) on the basis that she knew John Paul Jones from him working as a session musician for her, maybe apocryphal but I believe it, She was just one of the best.

Dusty Springfield was an English pop music singer who was heavily influenced by American r&b and Motown music. Her album 'Dusty in Memphis' is one of my favorites of all time. She had a hit comeback in the 1980s with the group the Pet Shop Boys. They did some collaborations, including the song 'What Have I Done to Deserve This? It's one of my favorite songs of the 80s and Dusty Springfield's voice adds a soulful touch. She had a lot of popular songs in the 1960s and 1970s, as well.

Not many people know that Dusty wasn't English, she was Irish. In fact her real name was Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien and both of her parents were of Irish descent. She was influenced by R&B and Motown but she was versatile enough to perform ballads, French chanson, country and jazz as well. She's one of the most notorious artists of the British Invasion in the mid-60's.

Dusty Springfield. A truly wonderful artist with a spectacular voice. She recorded her vocals in the halls of the recording studios as she found the studio sound dead. Got the echo reverb back in the hall. Dusty had a great ear and learned from American Black artists in the 1960s. She showed great respect for these artists. Check out her singing with Martha Reeves, my favorite R&B singer. RIP Dusty. You still have millions of fans. PS Love the maxi gown. Dusty could sure move in that dress.
