The hair style Dusty is wearing is called the Bouffant style where the hair is piled up in a nice, commanding and attractive position and was the “rage” hair style the 1960s. 👏👏👏

Oh yes...Dusty sang the original version. This cut was released on the 1969 album DUSTY IN MEMPHIS which incorporated the soulful "memphis sound". The style and arrangements on this album were a successful departure from the British pop/ folk music of her career up to that point. Yes, you heard me right....DUSTY was indeed British....but with a sultry southern accent when she sang. You should really hear her version of THE LOOK OF LOVE!! 😍😜

Dusty had a beautiful sultry soulful voice. She was a very shy person in reality and the album this song is on took a long time to make because of Dusty's reticence in singing in front of such a formidable group of virtuoso musicians in Memphis.

Dusty was one of the greatest singers ever. Inducted several days after her passing. This was out in 68. Had many very good songs. You don't have to Say you Love Me, I only want to be With You. Wishing and Hoping and Brand new Me. She shows her vocals most in You don't Have to Say you Love Me Appreciate if you would react to one of those great songs.

One of my favorite songs from 60s! I am digging the vest Dusty wearing. BJ I dont think Carol Burnette had that hairstyle. Carol in her heyday was a block hairdo. But many many country female stars had that hair style. .. e.g Tammy Wynnette . huge country star of 60s 70s. ( stand by your man singer)

The version you may have heard is from Aretha Franklin. Dusty Springfield was gay which was unusual in the 1960, although she did not come out till later. She was a big star in the UK and she was responsible and helped with the first tour by Motown stars in I think 1965. In those days black and white arists did not perform togther, but she was eager and happy to sing with Martha from Martha and the Vandellas. There is a great BBC documentary on that tour on you tube, it's worth a watch.
