Arena removes the risk Cuman players take by going fast Town Center. They also have faster scouts and can push early with rams. Seriously good civ in Arena.

Faster doesn't matter much if the opponent has all that extra food from not running two TCs. Cumans get an eco lead but tend to not get relics unless the map gen is balls.

​​@@laurie1183By the time the Cuman player reaches Castle Age the res difference between them and the opponent is insane (One has already a 20 eco lead that already paid off, the other one is starting to get rolling). And is very hard to scout the Cuman player on top of that because of the faster scout. Relic control doesn't even matter much for Cumans because their post-imp is atrocious

I think there should be an arena version with a few boars in the middle (from 2 to 5). This way initial light cav would also fight for boars, making you decide between a faster boom by getting the boars or an early map control by letting your light cav stay in the map

I've started playing AoE2DE only recently and have mostly been playing Huns in Arena. xD Of course, since this is low elo (I'm at around 725 now) there's probably lots of other things I need to worry about first, before thinking of taking an optimized civ.

I don't agree with Byzantines being so low. They have good monks, bbcs, strong castles, cheaper imp and almost everything in imp + cheap trash

It feels in that list some civs have very controversial positions. Byzantines deserve to be about top 12. Also that Poles behind Cumans and Incas is very confusing.

I think Saracens are at least B tier. The market bonus allows for fairly fast castle booms and gold intensive units, and they have an amazing late game with siege onager, all monk techs, BBC, hand cannoneer, arbalest, hussar, bulky camels, and mamluks are like kamayuks where they kill pretty much everything in melee. They're definitely on the slower side and hard to play, but they can dominate most calvary and infantry civs. Id say their hardest matchups are Britons/Koreans because of the range. They can match other archer/siege civs like Ethiopians or Mayans.

I really believe sarracens are so powerful… decent archers, great hp camels, great siege, market helps with eco a lot, cheap market also so less wood to FC, and mameluks are just broken. Also archer rush… I dunno to me those are crazy

Their market bonus is tricky for new players to use, however. They do have a very wide tech tree with full blacksmiths to take advantage of.

Since the construction speed bonus no longer applies to the first TC, they've fallen off quite hard. The FC into conq is still pretty good, but that's all they got and it's no where near as potent without the quick start.

@@erwinwendler4621 yeah but they only have 1 range on it. So you just leave the side they're on and keep farming and chopping til you drop a castle or mass skirms. You can get caught out if they cut you off stone and wood, but backing a mangonel behind does the trick after the nerf. Even monks are worthwhile now.

Two TC cumans tends to put you behind on the relic rush and isn't great long term. Has too many downsides to be S tier.

Haven’t watch the video yet but I’m gonna call it ! Turks number 1 . Best fast imp in the game and crazy good castle drop, also the fact they got free scout line upgrade mean you should be able to kill enemy scout and get map control ( and relics ) if the opponent doesn’t commit early castle age .

No HC for Vietnamese. I thought they had them for the longest time, but wishful thinking. I think Vietnamese are another civ thats strong at high elo. SotL also backs that up. Their weakness is building HP, missing Blast Furnace and redemption. Other than that they are like the Incas in being a jack of all trades. I think Inca, Vietnamese and Byzantine are similar for different reasons.

Why is that one guy going in the chat that Incas suck on Arena? In MOA Incas were the best civ. Their winrate was third best: over 70% and from civs that were played over 30 times in the tournament they had the highest win rate by a huge margin. Next one was Ethiopians with 57%.

Because they're very strong at low ELO, but at high ELO they're easily countered. So they are unlikely to get heavily buffed.

Cause Goth are a cheap infantry civ, not a strong infantry civ. You can sit behind your walls with some mangos and a blob of archers in stand ground and wait for the Rapture while Goth keep spamming cheap units.

As heavily critical as I am of the dev team, I will give them credit where its due- The Chinese nerf was the correct way to handle it, and the goth hunt bonus was the best possible route to give thema boost without overwhelming power. But, every time they use a subtle hand touch that makes it appear they have mastered their knowledge of the game, that little bit of hope is met with being violently and repeatedly dashed on the rocks of a "5% faster gathering, building by villlagers" flat Romans bonus. Idk if new civs are given to the newest interns or they let Make-A-Wish kids do it as a tax writeoff? They just cant seem to make a new civ reasonable anymore.

Dravidians is the 4th highest picked civ in MOA. They have won 13 games out of 35 in MOA which is the lowest among all civs that have 30+ games.

İ m only 1000 elo. Hera knows this game inside and out, no doubt. İ kinda disagree with him about cumans. First of all cumans 2 tc boom means give up all the relics. Secondly, i think cumans are weak against 1 tc monk , siege push.

Their plan is to win in late Castle/early Imp at best, so fighting for the relics isn't their no.1 priority I think (Even if it was their lategame comps suck) I can see that, but I think that since the 2TC eco is so good anyways they can afford to take it if scouted (I could see 2 stables scouts working to break it)
