I was a nurse for 20 years before an injury permanently disabled me. The medications I was prescribed were as disabling as the injury. I researched and implemented plant medicine and have managed to stop taking 7 different meds. My labs are absolutely normal now. When I was taking medications my labs were terrible. Plants are magical to me. They are literally giving me my life back. Thank you for helping our mother heal herself.

Wonderful herb tour Colette! You are carrying on in a way I would entertain if I was single. No fault to my husband, but he hasn't one magical thought of bowing to Mother Nature, in her rebirth of unstructured niches and herbal medicine. He is a "plant the carrots and green beans in a straight row " kind of person.That is how he was raised.. I restored his mother's kitchen garden at the main farm four years ago, filling it with organic compost, random Borage for the bees, along with unstructured rows of vegetables, flowers and herbs. He took it over, tearing out most of the Borage, my flowering Comfrey and Nettle because he doesn't understand their worth. I will rescue the Chives, Lemon Balm and whatever herbs I can dig up next month and relocate them into my woodland garden. He is lovingly sworn "off limits" to this project! I am thinking of starting more Comfrey in a separate woodland location. Would the deer eat it? You are an inspiration for me, Colette, to carry on with my feminine instincts where gardening is concerned. Much will be intermixed for reasons of space, art, companion planting. In a way, all has worked out well to good purpose. My hubby is happy in a realm that he can successfully navigate and identify with, while I have been given cart blanche in the space adjacent to our farm cottage, to undertake at my discretion. Since the cottage was newly built, a blank slate awaits, outside the kitchen door. There is a "field" of difference between our two gardening worlds!. I prefer yours!

I started using thyme, with bay leaves, onion and olive oil in a vegan bean recipe. Makes such a rich creamy soup, you never miss the meat. It is one of my favorite herbs. Mine is a German variety with smaller leaves than Collette's.
@JariDawnchild3 жыл бұрын
@@deborahjohnson3876 I would like to try that sometime. My health, wallet, and lack of growing space currently won't let me go entirely vegan, but I've been toying with the idea of swapping about half my usual meals with vegan ones and that soup does sound good. Do you have a recipe?
@deborahjohnson38763 жыл бұрын
@@JariDawnchild 1lb dried beans, water to cover, half cup olive oil, 1 Tbsp salt, divided, 4 sprigs of fresh thyme tied with a string, 2 bay leaves, 1 large yellow onion cut in chunks Soak the beans overnight in a bowl, Drain and rinse. Cover well with water, Bring to a boil, skimming as needed, Add oil, 1tsp of the salt, thyme, bay leaves, and onion. Reduce heat and boil 30 minutes stirring occasionally. Then add another tsp salt, cover and simmer until tender. Remove thyme and bay leaves. Add remaining salt. These are really good the next day after they soak in the cooking liquid. The original recipe says to remove the onion when you do the thyme and bay leaves, but I prefer to leave it in. ☺

Loved your info you shared in particular the cleavers. We have it here in Austin, TX and I was not aware of its good qualities! It originally came from Europe I believe. Like many seeds that find new homes far from their origins, cleavers is perfectly happy here too! So many gems right in our land that we are unaware of! I discovered another "weed" with a pretty tiny pink flower spike. Have no clue what it is, but I love it! It just appeared one day in a repurposed garden I had sort of cleared and had other flowers planted but the little gem took its place on the very rock edge and looks like I planted it there!
