You have the sponsons on backwards, the fit is better when they are on the right way around. The top modification was for removing and attaching the sponsons when being taken on and off trains without a crane in the desert.

Hurr durr the sponsons are wrong durr.... Jk, m8. Love the build! I'm thinking of getting into WW1 kits, but the weathering needed to make them look as they did in the field scares me somewhat.

I have the 1/72 British Mk-1, Gaza Strip, "male" version from Master Box. I did not have any issues with a missing part of the front glacis plate. Oh that cylinder on the rear of the tank is a hydraulic shaft used to lift and lower the steering wheels used on the early version of this tank. It was fed from the engine, so it must have been easier to leave it on rather than rework the interior piping of the tank. As far as I can research, the trapezoid shape covering it were plates put on to protect it; but may not have been used on the early Mk-1's that actually had the steering wheels in place as it might have been in the way. I'm not sure on this point. I saw somebody model a MK-1 with the steering wheels and the protective plating; but all the historical photos I studied showed the steering wheels and protective plating were not used together.

The pair of rails on top allow the sponsons to be removed in the field, without requiring an external crane. Both sponsons would be removed for transport.

In case you care, the Mk. 1 tank is driven by three people. The driver sits in the front cabin with the commander, and to steer the tank there are two mechanics in the back of the tank to shift gears.

I am hugely relieved to find that I have not been "eyeballing" incorrectly. I wore glasses for most of my life (until I got my cataracts repaired) so I always wondered... Nice build and a nice change from your usual subjects. In the Olden Days of rubber band tracks (1960s) a quick pass with a lighter served to melt the flash down to where it looked like mud or just crumbled off leaving nicer looking tracks. They may have changed the composition since then, so if you want to try it you do so at your own risk. Not that I think they would explode or anything but, well, just saying.

The grating on the top is indeed bomb deflectors, wouldn't want to give the crew or the communications pidgin a concussion. The drivers cab house the driver and commander. Commander bangs a wrench on the hull to signal gear changes to the two gearsmen at the two gearboxes at the rear of the landship

Hello Herbert, I must say I am a fan of your channel. I like your content and your very down to earth tone. Could you upload more bolt action battle reports?
