I’ve noticed that a lot of ewes with lambs won’t turn away from herding dogs and just walk away. I can understand them being protective, but they would make it so much easier on themselves by just walking away from the dogs.

Yes they use their bodies to move sheep as well as their eyes, they stare down at the sheep basically, which gets them moving.

@Epic T no i adopted her from my local shelter. When she was 9 months old. Why she was placed for adoption. Because she's not a pure breed. Her mom is a border collie & her dad is a red heeler. So he placed her up for adoption & now she's my wonderful dog. She refuses to even look at at cow sheep or goats. But let it be a horse mule donkey or buffalo & she's working.

It’s hard when the lamb is that young. (2-4 hours?). It doesn’t have the stamina to go with ewe yet. You’re moving them because you need to I’m guessing. Dogs did a great job. Ewes can be silly things. My LGD got to his feet when he heard lamb. Retired after 13 yrs working so yep in the house.
