I agree that following the Lord is definitely hard. It hasn't been an easy walk in the Lord for me at all. At age 32, I finally got my second full time job in my whole life. For most of my life, it's been part time, and it has been a real struggle trying to make ends meet that way. But God provided for me every time. And now, I've been blessed with a better job and better pay than I ever had. And tbh, there's no telling how long the Lord wants me to be here. But all I know is, He was always with me as I kept on following Him. I have not always trusted Him, and yet He still hasn't given up on me yet? GRACE UPON GRACE.

Talking about the Old Testament, this is my third time reading it and I can completely affirm that it is AWESOME. Every single rule God gave the Israelites was good and made to protect them. Even though we love the New Testament (c'mon, Jesus is INSANELY WONDERFUL), the previous stories are full of love of our God for us as humans. I didn't grasp it at first, it took me years to have my eyes opened.

@@dsophie7816 Did you even read those passages I cited? Christianity is a sham! You’re wasting your life worrying about the 2nd Coming. It was supposed to happen during the lifetime of Jesus’s disciples. “For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds. Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.” -Matthew 16:27-28 Oops! Too bad, so sad. All of Jesus’s disciples (if the church traditions are to be believed) tasted death, and not one saw him coming in his Kingdom. And no, that passage is not talking about the Transfiguration, the Resurrection or the Day of Pentecost. Luke 9:27 & 21:29-32 solidly refutes that ridiculous apologetic defense.

@@DesGardius-me7gf I cannot pretend to have an answer to those passages you cited, so I didn't say anything about them except that they are food of thought. I read them, but it would make no sense to make any uninformed claims about them. So I chose not to. I do not know a lot about the second coming, so there's no reason to get into arguments about them. It would be futile. As you say, the passages seem clear and I will be honest and say that I have nothing to say about them. What I can say though: if Jesus were to come again, christians would have no need to worry about that. Because if Christianity was true and Jesus died for the sins of those who believe, then there is nothing left separating the believer from God. So in fact there is no reason to worry. Again, I appreciate that you cited those passages because it is very clearly necessary that I would educate myself about them in order to either come to an explanation or a reason to not believe. In the meantime, I was just trying to share that faith has been beneficial for me very personally. That has nothing to do with knowing or not knowing about those passages, it is just my own experience. I will see to it that I will educate myself about the 2nd coming more. Thank you for showing me that I need to.

This was SO good! When I read the title, I was initially worried that you might follow the reasoning I often hear from those who either left the faith (aka false converts) and from professing Christians who are not obediently and submissively walking as disciples of Christ. Often, I hear the blame for not actively following Jesus being placed on bad experiences with imperfect, habitually sinful and/or hypocritical Christians. This is not a biblical perspective! Such blame-shifting provides comfortable justification that doesn't honestly address the heart issues that make actively following Jesus (i.e. picking up one's cross, dying to self daily, obeying God's Word, and submitting to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit) so distasteful to many who profess faith in Him. All of these excuses can be placed under the larger umbrellas of "self-preservation (saving one's preferred life)", "relationship idolatry" and "love of the world". Here are two biblical exhortations that speak to these hindering heart issues: Matthew 10:37-38 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Thank you sis for giving more clarity to this subject by breaking down specific root causes that all bring the accountability back to each individual who is called to follow. I so appreciate when believers use biblical example to clarify biblical truths rather than relying on their own reasoning and explanations. Congrats on your wedding and marriage! You make a lovely couple!

In my experience, the Christians who took the biggest liberties to throw their piety and judgment toward someone struggling in the faith tended to have the biggest egos and insecurities when it came to their walk with God. I refer it to as a sort of spiritual/biblical bullying. I'm not professing to know each person's mind, but I would never be so ignorant to suggest that a person who leaves the faith is automatically a "False Convert". They could be going through a "dark night of the soul" and requires the church's support rather than their condemnation. If you and Far Away Distance, truly believe in salvation through grace then clearly you must see how hypocritical you come across when you advocate or support the people who advocate that you can lose your salvation by simply walking away from the faith.

@@DesGardius-me7gf I’m sorry that it seems that way. God has every right on this earth to send me to hell. I could never in my wildest dreams earn the right to make heaven after death, the fact that God himself gives a broken lustful person like me a chance, is beyond my understanding. How can I then live for myself when I’ve been offered that kind of forgiveness and love? If I sin and fall into temptation that’s my choice and I’ll bear the consequences for my actions. God doesn’t wish to send anyone to hell, he is not up there with fire arrows ready to shoot them at us. In the Bible it says that he weeps over those who reject him, he loves every human deeply and wants the best for him. If a person ends up in hell, it’s on them it’s their choice. If I may ask you, what’s gonna happen to you when you die? What is it that causes you to feel like it’s a wasted life? Why do you hate the idea of a God who wants nothing more than to give you eternal life in paradise?

@@jarethhayden9991 *God has every right on this earth to send me to hell.* Deep down inside, you don't _really_ believe that, but you just don't have the guts to admit it, because you've been conned into accepting nonsense without any verification to it. No, there is _no evidence_ for Jesus outside of the Gospels; the Josephus account is a proven forgery, the references from Tacitus, Suetonius, Pliny the Younger & Lucian are all 2nd hand references. The supposed Thallus reference is a spurious 3rd-hand reference from an enigmatic writer. The gospels are NOT eyewitness accounts, you can ask any qualified, unbiased historian (not one of these Apologetic quacks) and they'll tell you the exact same thing. So what if John 21:24 says that a disciple wrote it, it's just words on paper; saying it doesn't make it so. That's like saying that an anonymous email from the Prince of Nigeria is from the Prince of Nigeria because it says so. It's complete circular reasoning, and that's putting aside the fact that the 21st chapter of John is a later addition. Also, in regards to the references to Lot's wife and Moses, hate to be the bear of bad news, but no, neither of them existed, nor did the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Also, there is no Egyptian record of Israelite slaves, nor of a Moses dwelling there, or of a 40-year sojourn in the Sinai Peninsula. If you want to know if the Bible's claims are supported by evidence, then you should consort _actual_ historians and scientists, and not Christian Apologists. Going to a Christian apologist is like going to a 12-year-old Justin Bieber groupie for an unbiased critique of the latest Justin Bieber album.

@@DesGardius-me7gf Dude, that’s why it’s called faith. And yes I do believe that with every part of my heart! Tell me this, if a Potter makes a clay pot, and it comes out wrong doesn’t he have the right to remake it? If God who created you and this whole universe sees that his creation is rebelling, doesn’t he have the right not to accept it? All you have to do is look around at creation, human beings, the stars some of which are billions of times bigger than earth. Can you honestly tell me that stars that big or a drop of water which has billions of molecules in it, just happened after a bang completely out of nowhere? All of creation and you as well points to a divine and artistic creator. There is proof all over of the Bible being true, look up the countries and cities mentioned in scripture. Jesus’ tomb where he was buried and rose again, Ephesus where Paul walked and ministered, king David’s palace where he lived and died. In the end though it does come down to faith and seeing your sin as what it is. To be honest the more I live in this world, the more I see that people don’t believe that there is no God or that the Bible isn’t true, they just don’t want God as their Lord, so they choose to say that there is no God. I’m gonna fight with everything I have to fight this sin in my life, but I don’t have to worry cause God has already won the war. He won it when he sent his son to die the most horrific death in the history of mankind. I’m gonna live my life in gratitude of that and I’m gonna spend eternity praising him in heaven, I sincerely more than you know hope I’ll see you there and we can both be free of pain and sadness forever! Hey my elder sister, first of all i wanna congratulate you for your marriage, you can't imagine how glad I'm for hearing happy news about you, you have been truely missed. May i ask you a question sister Becca?, according to your three interesting categories of the obstacles that hinder us from following Jesus, which one of them applies to me as a Muslim?, considering that i believe in the divine message of Jesus as a mighty prophet rather than him being God incarnted as a human being. Thank you in advance for reading my comment 🙏. (Your little brother Juad with my infinite love and respect).
@majiriov3 жыл бұрын
Hello Judad, I’m not Becca but I saw your comment and I thought I might help a little 😅 Christians and Muslims simply do not believe in the same God. The Christian God is one God in three persons (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit), one of them being Jesus (the Son). By denying that Jesus was God incarnated in human form and acknowledging Him only as a prophet, you are believing in a different God, and therefore not following Jesus. Us Christians believe that God is the Creator, the one we sinned against, the one to whom we can be reconciled only through Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice. Only though His righteousness can we become righteous in His eyes. Only by a stainless and perfect sacrifice in which His wrath was poured once and for all, can all of us who believe in that sacrifice be spared from His wrath (of which we are deserving but mercifully spared from). I can’t pinpoint which reason out of the ones Becca mentioned does your unbelief fit into, but I might venture to say that you might be afraid to reevaluate and change your core values and beliefs. I understand, it can be pretty scary. To lose everything, including your certainty of what you thought was correct, is hard. But it is necessary if you want to follow Jesus! Again, I hope it helped. Have a blessed day! 😊

Imagine, Jesus Christ shows up at your door Now, and says, "follow ME", Would you leave your husband, your new house, all the things you treasure an all the things the world has given you and that you so much love and work for to be accepted by your peers, like a house, a hubby, school, etc? That's why people are tire of HYPOCRASY, those who claim to be followers of Jesus Christ but in reality, that is IN DAILY LIFE they love more the world and the praise of other men so the talk NOT ONLY IN THE INNER CHAMBER but go and talk and pray INFRONT of other men... Do YOU know why YOU DO NOT FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST?? FIRST GET THE SPEC OF DUST OF YOUR OWN EYE....

About marriage for God's glory, as I live in a place with very few faithful Christians. Is it okay to marry a Christian just because they're a Christian? Is love important? We don't love each other because we're two very different people. Both of us want to marry but not each other.

There is NO REASON to “lose your life to save it” (Matthew 16:25). Why? Because the prophecies regarding Jesus’s second coming have EXPIRED (Matthew 10:23, 16:27-28, 24:34 & 26:64, Mark 9:1, 13:30 & 14:62, Luke 9:27 & 21:29-32, 1st Corinthians 7:29-31 & 10:11, 1st Thessalonians 4:16-17, 1st Peter 4:7, 1st John 2:18). Don’t let Becca pull the wool over your eyes by saying those passages I cited are for future generations. The language is CLEAR. The authors believed Jesus was going to return in THEIR lifetimes.

The men grow their beards like Jesus peace be upon him. They dont eat pork which it says in the bible levictus 7:11 I believe. The Quran has a chapter dedicated to Mary. The list goes on.

Different apostates have different reasons why they decide to leave the christian faith. Alot of us have trauma from the church and christian teachings. Others leave because were unable to find logical proof of God. Just opening up a bible and going "this verse explains why people won't convert" just reveals how naive you truly are. Of course you are going to defend Christianity, you are a upper middle class straight woman who benefits from it. Please continue to tell us how hard is to follow Christ, while showing off your beautiful wedding pictures. You want the true reasons, view apostate content and talk to those who leave. Its that simple.

I wanna quit my job because the temptation to please guys are too strong it makes me want to flirt with them and even worse maybe have sex with someone. But I also have to work to pay my scholarship and and it’s not easy to get a job in the midst of this crisis. I know in my mind that God will replace it with a better one but somehow I just can’t decide to quit.

The passages about denying yourself are no longer relevant, since-in context-they were given to Jesus’s contemporary disciples, and he specifically told them that we would not taste death until they saw the Kingdom of God (Matthew 16:28, Mark 9:1 & Luke 9:27). Don’t let Christians lie to you and say it’s talking about the Transfiguration. Trust me, it isn’t. There’s no reason to look for Jesus’s return, as the prophecies regarding it expired 2000 years ago (Matthew 10:23, 16:27-28, 24:34 & 26:64, Mark 9:1, 13:30 & 14:62, Luke 9:27 & 21:29-32, 1st Corinthians 7:29-31 & 10:11, 1st Thessalonians 4:16-17, 1st Peter 4:7, 1st John 2:18).

The old testament people looked forward to Christ death on the cross, The new testament people look backward to Christ's death on the cross. Everything Jesus quoted: "It is written." is written from the Old Testament. All the Monthly Sabbath Feasts, and Yearly Sabbath Feasts were reflection of what Jesus would do to end The Sacrificial Services and Food and Drink Offering called Oblations; referring to Dan 9:27. THESE TWO EVENTS LASTED 7 YRS (Prophetic Time). The end of Daniel's 70 Week Prophecy 1. JESUS'S Ministry on earth began at His BAPTISM which lasted 3.5 yrs to His death 2. JESUS'S Death to Stephen's DEATH lasted 3.5 yrs was the end of PROBATION for the Jewish Nation. Dan 9:27 And HE (Jesus) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (7yrs): and in the midst (3.5YRS) of the week (DIED on The Cross) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, [the next 3.5yrs was spent preaching to the lost Jewish Nation END OF PROBATION] After Jesus died...There was no more need for Animal Sacrifices, Food and Drink offering known as Oblations these were all stopped (nailed to the cross). But Christians (Gentiles) are still called not to sin, and obey God's Ten Commandments. Three year after Jesus died on the cross we still see Apostle Paul calling to the Jewish Nation just before He turns to The Gentiles. Jesus said: Go first to the Jews, and then preach the gospel to the world (Gentiles). NOTICE THE GENTILES ARE STILL KEEPING SABBATH; However this was one of the last times Apostle Paul preached to the Jewish Pharisees and Scribes as a Nation, everything after that was more an individual call but more so aimed toward the Gentiles, and keeping the peace between the new Jewish converts and the Gentile (Greek/Samaritan) Converts in the church. Act 13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. The Jews are commonly Known as: 1. The Circumcised 2. Hebrews 3. Jews 4. Israelites 5. Clean The Rest of the world was commonly known as The Gentiles: 1. The Uncircumcised 2. The Unclean 3. Greeks 4. Samaritans 5. Gentiles HERE WE SEE THE CLOSE OF PROBATION WHERE THEY STONE STEPHEN TO DEATH; and we see Jesus rise to His feet which resembles the SENTENCING of death toward the Jew's as God's Chosen People.. Act 7:55 But he (STEPHEN), being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing (making judgment) on the right hand of God,

I think the real reason why many of us won't convert to Christianity is because of Christians. Why would I personally join a religion that turns me into a judgemental and toxic individual? Because of Salvation? Huh, so the greatest reason Christians claim to love Jesus, but in truth, they love him because of the promise of a giant carrot and they want a piece of that. Kind of selfish if you ask me.
