Your things to do board scared me at first. I thought I we time warped into 2023 already, lol. I had to stop and double check that we were really still in 2022. When the storms are coming and you're in calving season, there's a lot to get done in preparation. Again, the teamwork with everyone jumping in and getting things completed on the list is fantastic. Always plan for the worst and hope for the best. Thank you for all you do to keep food on the table for the rest of us. Be safe and stay warm.

You started with such a pertinent comment about your trip into town, the number of people who are clueless to the forecasted blizzard. They are usually the first ones calling 911. Next, if you want a good reconnaissance of the cattle, you sent the right man, nothing better than a well trained retired lawman. Erin’s organizational skills really shined, with so many projects that needed to be completed, the punch out list is a very effective method. I enjoyed the “all hands on deck” and could tell this wasn’t your first rodeo with the forces of Mother Nature. Glad the glitches to posting were resolved, keep up the great work.

Wow! Seeing Erin's list started my adrenaline pumping. In my 69+ years of living North and South I've been thru numerous storm situations. Hurricanes and Blizzards. Several adages come to mind - A stitch in time saves nine B. Franklin i.e. taping the wind tunnel. Strange Bedfellows i.e. beef & pigs ( like bacon cheeseburger comment) . Erin, goat manure, I've been told, doesn't need to be composted before putting on garden. Water supply- even now I have gal. jugs of water stored just in case. Storm coming? First thing fill the bathtub for toilet flushing. I've been watching My radar and following the storm your going to get. Your planning has you as ready as you can be. 🐱 kittens are cute. How about a pan of food for Mom cat in the stall? Praying y'all get thru the storm A-OK. 💘 🐂 🐄 🐐 🐖 🐔 🐕 🐱 🇺🇸

Be safe OWL family. Blizzards (not the DAIRY QUEEN kind) are nasty. Grew up where gr'pa would string a rope from porch roof to dairy barn you had to clip on that rope if you were milking. That way you couldn't get lost in the wind and snow. Stay warm and safe.

Hey Mike! I will be keeping you and the family, Jeff, Matt, Bean, and all the farm animals in prayer that everyone stays safe, well fed, and warm during the blizzard. Also praying the strong wind doesn't do any damage to the high tunnel and all the structures, as well as your home, Erin's mother's home, Jeff's camper, and guest house. Also praying everyone stays well, including the livestock. As you all were making sure all the cattle were in the enclosed area, I couldn't help but think what a blessing it is that you don't have as many cows as before. P.S. The 24th is the day I predicted Bambi's calf would be born. Now I hope she can hold out until the storm passes. 🙏❤

I remember when I lived in Michigan and Mom driving me to school we always passed a ranch with Black Angus. When we saw them all huddled in a tight circle with their backs to the N.E, Mom who was raised on a farm told me they knew a major storm, usually a Noreaster, was coming and it always did. Animals are truly smart.

When I was in 4H and FFA I would but a halter on my calfs and lead them around. May take a a couple days for her to get use to it but it works. Great video, stay warm and safe.

Mike I know with the 30 in 30 , your putting in the over time . I'd like to thank you for informing us on how a ranch or farm has to work as far as day to day operation , and prepare for bad weather sometimes days before the event . It's not just a 8 hr. job . It's a way of life . Yes there is down time you can spend with the family , but there's times when it's 24 / 7 . It takes all you got to make it work .

I like the way you rounded-up all the calves and mothers along time before the blizzard came in. You animals were well protected. I've seen some farmers who were not. My parents, when they were alive, remember the great armistice day snowstorm which killed many outside.They didn't have the weather reports like we have now. Many ranchers found whole herds frozen to death as the storm, blizzard, lasted for a solid week. Your cows, horses, and pigs, can thank their lives due to your preparadness.

RE: Freezers. We had a 6 day, 14 hr power outage in early Feb. I've been through lots of power outages in my 72 years. But the chest freezers held food frozen solid all that time. Some broccoli was icy when I opened. About 4 hours after we got power back. So I cooked it. No loss. Refrigerator wa 37°F came up to 42°F. I pitched half gallon of milk. Bottom of frig stays colder. We had warning. So I adjusted location of goods I. Refrigerator before power outage. We charged phones in car and Jeeps . Still had to take 2 hundred pound dog out to potty. So taking phones out to charge was no issue. Iw was an ice storm that broke the power lines. You all are experienced. I trust you will be fine. Just inconvenienced. I ordered a new whole house generator.

I like your calf shelter idea. I think that is similar to Northern Farmer. He fences off an area that calves can get to and stay warm, but the cows can’t. Keeps the calves from being trampled, but mom is right there.

There! After much anticipation, I finally got you! I find it very interesting that Erin made a "to-do" list for you all, in prepping for the blizzard. I pray her green house plastic survives the storm. There is too much of an investment and time put into it. I didn't see any extra straw being put down for the calves (in the barn) nor did I see any put down for the Steers (that are in with the pigs.) I probably just missed it. Bambi....you beautiful STILL PREGNANT cow.....you let me down!!! Hee hee!!!! Here's hoping you do not lose electricity, but if you do, at least you can say you are ready for it! Be safe.....am saying a prayer for you all. People just don't realize what goes into owning a farm. You all, have certainly given us a glimpse of what it is like. Thanks for all you do! We have been hit hard by the hurricane force winds for days now in Cheyenne. Yesterday it was 80 Degrees here in the Capitol City. Praying for you all getting the wind and snow. Excellent idea on bedding fenced off for the calves! I was afraid the cows are gonna go for it once it snows but I see you fed bales also. Great idea all around. Cows will be busy eating and full and don't have to go anywhere for water and calves should be nice and warm. I wish we would have thought about separated fenced off bedding. Would have made our life a hell of a lot easier 🤣🤘
