Since Circe and Calypso are super powerful and could pretty much do whatever they want to Odysseus, the Greeks would have seen him as not having a choice in the matter. I was thinking more along the lines of 🎶six hundred men🎶 who average Odyseus's level of resourcefulness, armed with arrows dipped in lotus or hydra blood, ships driven by winds, who hunt down monsters specifically to loot them for parts. Who only refrain from deploying Moly because the gods would realise what a threat they are. That kind of thing. Troy arguably fell to a SINGLE one, if she can replicate them... well, Zeus doesn't seem to be on the throne in the present day.

Odysseus and Penelope's originstory his hilarious anyway. In return for getting a good word in to Penelope's father Odysseus made a plan for Tyndareus on how to keep people from absconding with Tyndareus' daughter. The plan was "we all have to kill whomever kidnaps her" I'm sure Odysseus really enjoyed that plan 8ish years into the Trojan War. Great Idea buddy.

The riff on “mine” being roughly the same riff as “mind” in Warrior of the Mind is really cool. To fill y’all in if you missed it: in Warrior of the Mind, Odysseus does that riff on “Mind,” but Athena originally delivers the word “Mind” with a solid, continuous note. The second time, she harmonizes with Odysseus. This shows that though the song is about Athena mentoring Odysseus, she’s also being mentored by Odysseus in a sense as she learns to loosen up and think more creatively. This is reversed in “Goodbye.” There, Athena first does the riff in “this is my goodbye,” but then abandons it and goes back to holding a solid note the second time she says “this is my goodbye.” As she abandons the riff, she abandons Odysseus. Finally, Telemachus brings back a similar riff in the Wisdom Saga, and Athena picks it up again, showing her reconnecting to Odysseus through his son. This riff seems to be one of the central motifs of the musical, so keep an eye out for it!
