I always thought this. But I think nobody gets that the first Perimedes song comes AFTER the Cope With That. Cope With That takes place on the ORIGINAL Lotus island on the Odyssey, where Ody's crewmates got high on Lotus and had to be forced out the island, at least I presume. But in the Perimedes yeet song, he metions that 72 crewmates are already dead, and the first time they died was in the Polyphemus cave, making it happen during the Ocean Saga. So, yeah.

I'll be honest I think Elpenor and Perimedes is what Epic is missing. I came out of the Thunder Saga more bitter towards Eurylochus than sad about the sacrifice Odysseus had to make. The only reason we have to care about the crew is Eurylochus; who, due to his nature as an eventual antagonist, causes a difficulty in connecting with the crew for the audience. Perimedes and Eurylochus in contrast are so grounded, they're not in constant battle with our only point of reference, they're so human in a plot focused on the mythical. I would honestly be willing to sacrifice a live adaptation of Epic in exchange for a Perimedes and Elpenor Saga and I say that with no sense of dishonesty.

@@turbopugs2593 yes! I love the focus on the gods, but I’d also have loved it too if we could have more on the crew. Polites and Eury were our only link, and Polites died early, and Eury was making bad decisions, so we don’t really get much more of the crew except for that.

I’m someone who loves Eurylochus and connects with the crew fully (Monster was about Ody accepting that he’s becoming a worse person so I think that humanizes the crew based on what Ody does to Eury with the torches), and I also agree that I’d love to see Perimedes and Elpenor as fleshed out characters. They seem pretty interesting from these snippets and one thing I don’t like is the crew outside of Eury feeling like one big monolith with all the same thoughts, having these two would make that connection stronger- and that moment where Peri stabs Ody would be even crazier

Ill be the first to say im not a shipper of the two because of cope with that. Elpenor doesnt say "maybe we should stay here". He says "maybe we should leave him" and from what i know of narcotic drugs, in my minds eye, perimedes doesnt look like a peaceful sleeping baby, he looks like a junkie on magical drugs. Elpenor at best thinks he deserves rest. A lover would bring him what he needs, not what he wants.
