No One no Niantic has updated it so that IF you find an evolved form of a Pokémon you'll get more candies. Basic form gives 3 candies, 1st evolution gives 5 candies and 2nd evolution gives 10candies.

It's both true. The 5 candy pop up is a bug, you actually get the doubled amount, so 6 for base forms AND you get more candy from evolutions. You can even combine the two and get 20 candies for a Dragonite with pinap berry.

With Critical Catches, the stars come out a lot more and are all curved when they fly around. Just in case you don't pay attention when it should be rolling. Also, there doesn't seem to be any XP bonuses for Critical Catches.

In Pokemon GO, it seems that critical captures cause no shaking of the Pokeball, and a critical capture is encoded as having a sight statistical probability of happening with any given throw. If your throw is designated by the coding as a critical capture, it is an automatic capture.

A critical catch is basically an instant catch, instead of waiting 3 shakes to catch it. You can notice because you catch it on the first or second shake and the stars come out "curvy" or more like a magician smoke. Quite nice to see that, done it at least twice out of a 100 catches.

Chansey spawned a lot over here where I lived, so I got a whole bunch of them. The problem is that I was so discredited of Gen2 coming soon that I powered up every single one I got that had good IVs to be the tank at gyms. critical captures will shake once. i remember in reversal's video there was a glitch where it didn't shake leading many people to believe that was a critical catch. however, there has been more footage now of the ball shaking once and catching

I had three Tyrogues that I just evolved. The one that had Defense as its strongest feature evolved to Hitmanchan. The other two both had Hp as their strongest features. One of those evolved to Hitmonlee and the other evolved to Hitmontop.

actually, you do get double candy from the pinap berry, it just oddly shows 5 when it's totaling it up, but after you press "OK," you'll notice that it adds 6 candies on the Pokémon's "card."

The Pinap berry does double the candy you get. The 5 is an error. If you look in the top right corner when the Pokémon's summary page pops up after you catch you'll see +6 (candy symbol) along with the usual +100 (dust symbol).

I have some info that I learned maybe helping with some Research - I got a King's Rock from my 7 day streak the same day gen 2 released, and by now I haven't found any other evo item - My girlfriend got a Dragon Scale from her 5 day streak, so not only from 7 day, but I think they are rare drops - One of my friends got Sunstone and King's Rock with the same Pokestop spin - Heracross caught, I'm in Panama and finaly a regional here :D - Strangely almost every pokemon I see is gen 2, even evolved forms, just one or two occasional Pidgey/Rattata - Pinap berry sometimes gives 6 candy and sometimes 5 (Probably a bug/glitch/error) - I made 2 critical catches today, they don't shake and have more stars and sparkles (but no bonus xp sadly) - Setting as buddy Eevee and evolving doesn't guarantee Espeon/Umbreon (Need to try walking them) - Additionally I'm researching the Egg position too, right now seem random placements....

it took me one pokeball, no lie. togetic is only catchable with a critical catch. you probably noticed the stars had streaks coming out after the ball clicked?

looks like they changed it. Togetic's base catch rate is now 5% (same as Dragonite, Tyranitar, and the fully evolved starters)

Just adding something else i've noticed that no one else is mentioning: You can now see the color of the ring change when you use a Razzberry. For example, a hoothoot spawned, and when using a regular pokeball, it had a yellow ring. After using a razzberry and spinning another pokeball, the ring was noticeably more green than yellow.

Oh, actually you do get 6 candies after a Pinap berry! It just says 5 on the summary screen for some reason, then it'll actually say 6 on the items received that show up on the right.

Hi Nick, just to make you aware... At 20:18 minutes of this video, you found you had got 5 candies by feeding a Pinap Berry. But actually, on that screen (where gained XP, candies and stardusts are shown after catchin a Pokemon), the number of berries increase from 3 to 5... But if you had noticed, on the next screen (where the details of the Pokemon caught is shown), the no of berries added, as shown on the upper right side of the screen, is shown as +6...

Togetics code in game indicates a glitch has occurred, that's what's causing it's seemingly impossible catch rate. So if you encounter one I'd suggest you to walk away and save your Pokéballs and Berries. However, if you do try Good Luck!

Has anyone evolved an eevee into espion or umbrion without the name trick, or using it as a buddy Pokemon? I evolved about 10 eevee and I didn't get a single one of them. I'm trying to figure out if it was just bad luck, or if there is an actual mechanic preventing me from getting them.

Mitch Burns others have tried as well and only got gen1 evolutions. Lends credence to the theory you may need to buddy the eevee for 10km and evolve it at day/ night. Try it and report how it goes.

Thank you everybody. Luckily I still have about 20 eevee left to evolve. I saved up about 30 eevee just waiting for gen 2 to hit. I may have to try this name trick out, as well as the buddy method. Seems like the buddy method isn't a trick, but the actual way to do it.
