As soon as the 8a dropped, I had the EXACT same thoughts as you have here. This is great content! Subscribed! Google wonders why the Pixel struggles to sell, even though the product itself is great and nearly apple tier in its "packaging"

i have a 7pro pixel and must say i love the google UI it just works. However i must say the hardware namely processor is piss poor. Especially running Android 15 beta. its seriously bad, very laggy. it doesnt help that they are still using outdated samsung exynos chips as its base. Google great software let down by mediocre hardware.

I'm going to be very honest Steve The most important thing now is software updates My OnePlus 9 pro has to be retired next year due to no more updates I knew it was coming it still is gut-wrenching to think this phone that's running so smoothly is dying! In the sense of 1+ dropping it from support, software-longevity is where its at.

Well sure, which Google offers great support, but they have to market the phones correctly.

Google does not do a good job of promoting the lifestyle features of their devices. The Google Assistant is instrumental to how I live my daily life. And there's so many other features that are so easy to use on the pixel device that really makes my life easier. It's one of the main reasons why I don't use a Samsung or an Apple device.

Great analysis of this issue with Google marketing. Ask LG, HTC and Microsoft about this. I still firmly believe that if those companies had competitive and in some cases, superior products but the lack of a comprehensive and persistent marketing strategy caused their exit from the Android space. Those who don't learn history are condemned to repeat it. Great video sir!

Just imagine that on any regular flagship...oh Sony Xperia line does that...what you said should be standard on all phones because most companies took it away from most flagships with no reason at all and charge more for less.

They should get rid of the A line altogether and just make it the regular pixel, and have a "play" line up like the good ole days and use Motorola, Nokia, or another less known brand and get them into the market and be partners with said company with a "play" lineup and Google OS and the software behind it. I wish most companies would stop thinking that just less expensive phones need those features, heck the new moto g stylus has sd card support and a headphone jack and is around $400 but it only is getting 1 year of support.

Very excited about the smaller P10P. But will be trading my P8P for the smaller P9P.. This phone is way too big for my comfortability ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

I'm definitely one of those people procrastinating atm. I was going to go for the 8a, but didn't like the corners (I'll give it another look) and thought about the 8, but then, the price, which _had_ been £499 in the UK shot back up. I'm currently using the 6a (which i love) and am wondering if the 7a might be a better bet! I can get that for around £250! 😉😉

I’m on my fourth pixel (8 pro) and I agreed with your comments. I think the marketing has gotten a little better with the tie in with the NBA, but for a company that makes most of it’s money on advertising google does not seem to know how to market a product.

You'd still have the same problem if you release them all at once with th older chip in the a variant. You'd still have the older non a phones at a similar price and Beyer specs than the new a variant. You can't fix it like that. The only way to diferențiate is to sell it at a lower price. No discounts at all all year and just start with a lower price from the launch.

But it's a full year after, and it's more like what other phone makers do. The last gen would no longer be featured on the website, etc, they would be discontinued. It's a different feeling altogether.

@@StevealiciousTech you might be right about that, at least most youtubers might stop bitchig about it if the older models are being phased out. Even though you'd still have the same issue in reality, the perception might indeed shift away from it..

Notice how Samsung was smart enough not release the A55 in the US so it wouldn't confuse the customer between it and the S23FE.

I think Google is fine with the A series .... You don't want to drop it with the other pixel phones cause you want all the focus on the Pro line and the regular 8 at that point is just for people that don't like big phones. Then once the ultra series drop people forget about the pixel then you have the razr season then you have the flip and fold season then you have iphone season. Dropping the A series mid season is smart cause it keeps some eyes on pixel line especially when no one is actually paying $500 for it cause every carrier has it with "on us" or with a free line etc. Google knows it won't over take apple and Samsung big dawgs so it trys to go at the FEs and iphone 15s (regular) of the world's etc with a phone you're not really paying for or getting it really cheap but with some higher specs that doesn't make you feel like you got those BS phones for free
