I think even Doug doesn’t realize his impact on KZbin. It wasn’t just reviews, it’s HOW he did them. His reviews were about mundane stuff people couldn’t see elsewhere. ‘This is what the key for a Ferrari F40 looks like!’ Or ‘This is the trunk of a Rolls Royce, this is the glove box’. That kind of review didn’t exist anywhere. Now people are reviewing video game systems in the same manner.

The charming thing about Doug is that he’s the most regular looking guy there is. He’s honest and relatable. He’s humble and funny. That authenticity is what drew me in. He’s not trying to construct some character. He’s Doug. He’s a car guy who loves cars and is good at storytelling and that makes his reviews much more engaging. I’ll often watch his videos even if I don’t care about the car because I just like Doug and wish I was his friend and I know I’ll always learn something new.

I’ve been following the channel since early ‘16. What makes Doug so special is that even if he gets a car from the brand’s marketing team itself he still reviews it objectively. It feels honest and at the same time, while not being too technical, very informative. I don’t even live in the US and I still watch every single video cause they’re so entertaining.

"Does Ferrari 360 attract women" was my very first Doug video I ever watched. I'm sort of veteran subscriber:) I swear I thought Doug was a child of rich parents or some sort.

I have always felt a huge sense of pride for Doug's career. I started watching his videos religiously because he was the only person I knew that liked and celebrated the weird, quirky, and unloved vehicles. We also both graduated with Econ degrees and entered the auto industry. My wife knew of my Doug addiction early and was able to surprise me with a signed copy of his first book. He emailed her back within hours of her reaching out, and he offered to send it free of charge, plus he said she was the best wife ever. His channel BLEW UP after that year and I know that would be impossible today. Watching his channel evolve has been a highlight of my 20's

Been following Doug since he just started the channel.. He stayed constant, authentic, his personality and simplicity is what keeps this channel growing. No fancy editing, drama or anything else, just Doug being Doug. Good luck in the future and greets from Bosnia :)

There are few KZbinrs who remember their beginnings, cherish their viewers, and stay humble amidst success. Doug is one of them and certainly deserves everything. Bravo, Doug.

You didn't say in this video, but when and how did you come up with the idea for the Doug Score? I also know that you used to have a category called "Importance" but swapped it out for something else.
