Hope you get this follow up question.. I found the Garmin you suggested for $749 with the GT54UHD Transducer. I see they have discontinued this transducer and the same unit now ships with the GT56UHD Transducer for $1099. In your opinion is it worth that much more money to get the new Transducer or go with the gt54 since I am really a weekend angler until I retire in 2 years.

I wanted one a little bigger than the smaller 20# and noticed yours was a little taller than the smaller one. And how many hours will it last on high? Thanks bud! I invested in a good pair of neoprene gloves and bibb waterproof pants when I was catching bait in the winter. I fished Lake Lanier in Georgia and discovered that the shad as well as blueback herring schooled in the backs of creeks where the water was stained and shallower. I assume it had to do with the slightly higher temperature of the water there.

I only have a cheaper down imaging unit that came with the boat. When I spot a "blob" of baitfish on the down image, how do I know where exactly to throw the net? I mean specifically, which side of the boat, front, back, where exactly should I throw the net?
@hagengrubbsfishing4 жыл бұрын
If your transducer is mounted on your transom and you are in fairly shallow water, 5-20ft. when you see them on your down-imaging screen they are directly under the back of your boat or slightly behind it depending on the speed you are moving while scanning. What I do is spin the boat around with the trolling motor and throw where the back of the boat was previously. If it’s a small school it is very difficult, but if it’s a large school you will get them. Thanks for watching and good luck. 👍

@hagengrubbsfishing2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. The higher quality nets definitely open better. Something that helps a lot is to soak the net in a bucket of water with a few cups of fabric softener.
