This is a great well presented video on replacing a headliner for a hard top on a BMW. Kudos to Cory. Great job

Great detail and DIY. If you want to do sound proofing it's best to place it onto the backside of the headliner, not the metal body just in case you ever need pdr it will be easier to manage.

This video is clutch! I’m picking up a hardtop this week that needs major headliner TLC. Thank you for sharing this!

Just curious how much did you pay for your hardtop in fair -> good condition?
@ramiroospino243 жыл бұрын
@@jasonson86 I paid $1500 for it. Besides the headliner it’s in solid condition. The guy also included the mounting kit as well. From what I have seen. Mint condition hardtop are going for about $2,000 and some are including the stand.

Amazing Video, you are a life saver there are no other tutorial about this! I am about to do the same procedure to my E46 M3 hardtop just got one off Ebay shipped down to Texas, the paint is in amazing condition looks like new but the headliner is completely falling down. I already got all the materials except 1. I am unsure which kilmat did you use 80Mill or 50Mill? and what size 36SqF or 50SqF? I am also thinking about some sort of insulation since my top is Jet Black it gets pretty hot on the lone star state. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I think I went with the thinner 50 mil just for weight savings but it’s up to you. I ordered 4 YARDS Flat Knit Foam Backed Headliner Cloth (144" x 60")

You are right space is pretty tight I'll go with the 50Mill Kilmat

I would love to have seen how you removed those ridiculous clothes hanger hooks. I think they’re designed to break and BMW apparently doesn’t sell them separately from the top.

How is it now with the sound isolation ? Does it worth it
@m3blackshadow3 жыл бұрын
Totally worth it. 100x more insulated and quieter. Doesn’t sound like a tin can when it rains.

Hi, I'm just about to do this job on my hardtop. Quick question, when you fit the new headliner whats the best way to mould it into the recess of the grab handles you take off ? It does look awkward to mould it in. Cheers
@m3blackshadow3 жыл бұрын
Start down the middle and work your way out towards the handles. It’s not bad. The harder part is the ridges at the top between the sun visors

Does the hardtop rattle when you hit bumps?

No

Nice video. Is there a reason that you didn’t just buy the material from Joann like other DIY threads suggest?
@m3blackshadow4 жыл бұрын
This is the first I've heard of Joann. So...I guess that's why lol. You need automotive foam backed headliner fabric though. Doesn't really matter where you get it, so long as you get that.

I bought fabric from Joann’s and it started to fade within a year. Oem is the way to go.

Jesus Christ! This would have been more helpful if you had actually shown how to remove the clothing hooks from the headliner.

Lol I think I explained it. Sorry I didn’t show it. I was too busy figuring it out myself so I just explained how afterwards.
