The differences are one is a pieve and one is a cant hook . Peive has the hook an other biting point to help roll logs , the cant hook is designed to help separate stacked cants.

The pointed end is great for what you did, but even better for its purpose of separating logs or getting a bite to pivot/lift a log etc. Comes in handy if you get a saw pinched or have to cut through a log that would pinch the bar.

I picked up the Woodchuck tool way back in the early 2000's at a local county fair when they were still just pedaling the product on their own. I like some of the advancements they have made since my version especially the single jaw with the extra bottom pivot teeth. My version also allows me to mount it to a truck hitch to then have it as a log holder (think limbs) to then have up at waist height when cutting. Good luck with yours!

I use a timber jack primarily to raise the log to reduce back fatigue. Both tools have their advantages. I actually use both. Good video!

I have the Dual Pro and can attest to its durability and well worth having. I was at the same spot as you Doug, I wanted the best of both worlds in that, turning a log as well as getting it off the ground to cut. The handle is long and makes getting the logs up off the ground easy, the dual feet keep the handle off the ground as well which is nice in the snow, wet muddy ground, etc. The dual pro is definitely worth the money in my mind. I was on the fence between it and Log Ox, based on my personal needs and wants, I went with the dual pro. The longer handle sold me do to making it ways easier to get the logs up and off the ground. The other major advantage, and not one I had thought about was the advantage of turning the logs on a pile, I say that because always was cutting single logs and not off a pile, I jabbed it in the ground next to the pile like you showed and it definitely is a great feature. The points on the hook dig in and get a good bite as well. I have definitely turned and had logs the were way over sized but the Dual Pro never showed any signs of weakness. 👍🏻

Darn Doug, making me buy stuff. Saw your video. It looked like a really good tool. Went to the manufacturer's website. They had free shipping if you bought that and a skidderoon or a hookeroon. The skidderoon looked interesting, so I don't end up getting that too. I do like the fact they're made in the USA says Milford, Pennsylvania. Thanks for all the great videos you put out. Enjoy watching your channel!

Great video, Doug! Suggestion: Have you thought about making a video featuring a completely unnecessary modification to a tool (just for the heck of it)? For example, replacing that jackstand end with a screwjack attached to a drill?

Doug, first great video. I know changing the foot when you are outside is going to be a problem with losing the pin and clip. Here's a thought, at Harbour Freight they sell Bail Lock Pins. They are used for trailer couplers and PTO's. One piece, easy on easy off.

I have an old Stoz log lift and the 23 lb (I think) "Monster Maul" that the same company made. I traded firewood for them back in high school. I bet the aluminum tool is a lot nicer. The Stoz lift gets heavy after awhile.

I like that Doug! I bought a LogOx and it works well but it can be on the small side for bigger logs. I have a long Stihl (log rite) can’t hook and I just got the stand accessory for it but haven’t used it yet. You should share a link for that Woodchuck.

Log Rite makes a Peavey which has the point. Adam's is called a Cant hook. I like the Cant hook because it acts like those inner teeth on the Woodchuck. I turned my Peavey into a Cant hook and so my hook on the Cant part is longer than the manufactured Log Rite Cant hook. It bites in better.

Fab/crimp a braided wire tether or simply use zip ties (not as durable) to retain the clip to the removable piece. Doug will come up with something.
