I had the very best radar detection system mounted stealthily within my van, but what I _really_ loved was my absolutely spastic laser jamming system which was the very best on the market at the time (and still is to this very day!). The radar detector was the Beltronics Sti-XR (100% undetectable by radar detector detectors!) and I also had an Escort Passport 9500ci before the Beltronics which was better in terms of learning where the radars were and auto-locking them into its memory, but I preferred the simplicity and solid ruggedness of the Beltronics unit. The laser jammer I used was the Laser Interceptor which I had mounted very stealthily just under my van pointing straight ahead at exactly parallel to the road. This thing was so good that when I had purchased the best laser gun in the entire country at the time in order to really put this jammer through the wringer, I could never even get a reading at any time I had tried to get the van while in fast motion! I mean, I tried everything!! I even tried to point the gun to the roof which was very far away from the jammer heads, and also in combination to try to shoot the van while it was extremely close to me... but the jammer won every single time without fail!! I even had my friend drive _his_ vehicle in which he had spent 3x what I did on a jammer which was another brand and nowhere near as efficient or effective as mine, but he had his professionally installed, hence the hefty price tag! So, I pointed my laser gun at his vehicle while he was jamming, and I got a reading almost immediately, every single time no matter what scenario we had tried to come up with! I was now that much more impressed with this jammer of mine! I LOVED this thing. Of course, I had it hooked up to a kill switch so that I could switch it off once I slowed down after a cop could have the opportunity to read my speed, which he would initially find it very difficult to get a reading off my van for a couple of seconds (which was funny as my van was tall and had a massive front surface area, enough for a cop to read me at a mile away! lol), then I would switch the jammer off and by then, I would have slowed right down and he would _eventually_ get that mighty precious speed reading he was after, but it would always read just under the maximum speed limit by then... LOL!!

The TCAS system is crazier. It's a system designed for planes to receive a warning and an emergency change of course if they are about to have a near in-air-collision. So they were somehow using it to test for near aircraft and even if it didnt alert to to a near crash it may still be able to detect other aircraft by way of whatever process happens to determine if they were about to crash.
@mitchellroberts79545 жыл бұрын
I'm more impressed that they thought to use TCAS, a system nobody knows about unless they work in aviation. ADS-B would have been a cheaper solution but I doubt all the police aircraft are equipped if they're not flying into controlled airspace. What I'd like to know is how they were able to get TCAS in without having TCAS out. TCAS out would have immediately alerted any aircraft in the area. To be honest now that I'm thinking about it... I don't know of many small aircraft that have TCAS? Usually it's large commercial aircraft.

speed limits are one of those 'crimes' that depend on having an officer or other means of recording there to witness it. It does not matter at all if you did not get caught. you could literally go up to a cop and tell them you just drove across the country in 26 hours at speeds in excess of 130 mph, and they would probably just walk away. without a hit on their radar gun they have nothing to ticket you for that will hold up in court.
@Sushihunter2504 жыл бұрын
@@TalonPro I don't know about that... Many years ago, I sat in on traffic court. Guy was clocked going 40 mph in a 30 zone, but cop was busy with another speeder. After a few minutes, he drove down the road and found a house with the offending car parked in the driveway. Long story, shot, he issued a ticket and it ended up in court. With the driver on the stand, being questioned by the prosecutor, the guy claims he wasn't speeding at 40 mph, and that the radar unit was probably not calibrated properly. Prosecutor asks what he does for a living - says he is the radar technician at Westwood Raceway. After a few minutes, the court goes quiet as they listen to this guy talk about the proper way to calibrate radar units and how easy it is for them to be wrong. Really fascinating stuff! The prosecutor is just about to sit down, when he turns suddenly to the driver and asks "How fast were you going?" The guy immediately responds "About 32, maybe 33 mph." The court clerk burst out laughing! Judge says "Guilty by self-admission!"

The white lines thing is true for every state except PA. The local police aren’t allowed to use any radar guns by law (state police can) so the local police have to use the white lines to give out speeding tickets. I've got a technical question: What/how exactely do your radar warning devices help? The reason i am asking is the following: A "Radarmile" is 12 µs. This means the time a radar wave needs to travel 1 nautical mile to a target and back takes 12 microseconds. (so basically it takes 12µs for 2 nautical miles) So by the time your radar warning device detects the radar and warns you, the waves are already back at the radar, processed and show a value. It would only help if the radar gun would transmit constantly without messuring, or if you would be lucky enough that there is traffic and the radar gun is pointed at someone in front of you. If you are the first one to be messured technically it shouldn't be of any help.
