Thanks for sharing your story. Prayers for Bobby is truly an amazing movie! I actually hadn't heard about it either until my mother told me about it. She actually told me that she didn't think that she could watch it because she knew it would make her cry. I talked her into watching it and we both cried. I came out 10 years ago and while the first year was a rough one for my parents, life is so much better now.

Thanks for sharing your story (so far). Having religious parents who thinks homosexuality is a sin is tough. I know that they still think gay sex is a sin but, I have educated them that sexuality is so much more than sex. Also I later fell in love with a woman! I could have sworn that would never happen, that was hard too since I identified myself as gay and was out and all. Today I am not so sure about labels - but accept the diversity in human sexuality. God loves all of us. Live well.

@Renfiles90 I'm astonished and delighted that surfing the videos all over the "coming out" archive, people are talking about, and reacting strongly to, Bobby and Mary Griffiths' story! I was 19 when I learned of Bobbys' suicide and was in shock, having cared deeply for him!

Renfiles90 When these events occured over 27yrs ago, almost no one stood up! This sea change or paradigm shift, if you will is breathtaking! You are so brave and beautiful my friend, and I so pleased that you've arrived! Thank you, and may G-D bless you! Blaine

Dude, you are right, if a friend has trouble with you being Gay, then they truely aren't your friends. Besides in my Catholic upbringing, God has a Plan for us, so if he has a plan, then you being Gay is part of it. He made you who you are!! So long as you are happy with yourself!! You have only one person to please, You! Prayers for Bobby is a GREAT Movie!! Everyone should watch it!! I envy the YOung Gay Men now a days, it was soo different when I started......

@Renfiles90 I can't help but being so proud of you my friend! The world you will be "out" in is a far less hostile place than that which I came out in as a boy! When I was not yet 18, I met and fell in love with a boy named Bobby Griffith(Prayers for Bobby). His family at the time was dogmatically religious, and the pain of the closet was unbearable for him. He took his own life in 1983! Thankfully that was a long time ago and much has changed.

You are courageous, and i admire so much what you are doing here to help others by honestly reporting on your story, your path that others may follow now more easily. Where have you been? Are you okay?

I have 'Prayers for Bobby' currently recorded on the television and I tried (for a few weeks) to get my mom to see it without actually mentioning the movie: by leading up to it with random comedies and such... never did she see it though. Time's still not right I guess? And that was months ago

i love your story. i kinda thought u were gay from your previous videos, but in one of them u said u had a blind date with a girl so i was kinda thrown off the gay idea... now this confirms it and im so happy for you. im definitely a huge fan of yours now. ~Josh~

This was a good story, there were many parallels to my own, and I could relate to you. You have not posted in a long while. Like me, you lived in hostile territory for people like us. There are lots of friendly place to live. Did you make it to a more hospitable territory, like one of the urban areas on the coasts? What are you up to now?

Can we please not have ANY arguments about if being gay is right or wrong? I'm so sick of it. I'm not gay, these conversations just shouldn't HAVE to exist. Maybe I'm just at a point in my life where I just don't care. I don't mean to sound like a dick. I just REALLY don't care if someone is gay or not. I just feel like we should live in a modern enough society where it shouldn't even have to be a discussion, it should just be accepted automatically regardless if you think its right or not.

Thanks for your reply...I have friends at church who struggle with homosexuality but are in our Recovery ministry. They are doing well, working out their faith in progressive sanctification i/o getting into the lifestyle and pursuing it. My next question: Do you see homosexuality as something you necessarily cannot or will not fight against? Do you believe that it's impossible to resist against? If you want, you can "message" me on this.

There are so many cute gay guys out there (such as yourself), THAT'S what made being gay easier for me to accept. You may say I'm weird and shallow, but I'm at least comfortable with myself now :)

I fully second nexttsar's comment. The facial hair is a pity. If you got rid of it, you would look very cute, and still very manly. :)

@Renfiles90 Things are happening for LGBT people today, the likes of which Bobby and I could never conceive! We're not quite there yet, but full inclusion is within sight! It thrills me to know that you will be able to lead an authentic life as a gay man, and will even likely be able to marry the person whom you love, if you so choose! Yeah!!!! May G-D Bless You! Blaine

May I ask this: Is "coming out" more of self-acceptance of your sexual orientation than announcing that you are homosexual?
@mred9158 жыл бұрын
No offense, but it looks like you're still in the closet. A wiring closet. HAHAHA!!!

well, being gay=not a problem. being from kansas=gonna be lots of jokes.

Your parents gave mixed signals whereby your parents were against homosexuality because of religion. Then, when you came out they accepted your sexual orientation? I plan to watch Prayers for Bobby, but by your mother's request for you to watch the film, she knew something otherwised why did she ask you to watch the movie?
