Same. I actually found it pretty inspiring back in the day. And I know this sounds like BS, but we are coincidentally from the same town in central NC, and he actually ended up randomly being my waiter back in 2009 and I mentioned this video to him. He seemed a little uncomfortable with me having recognized him though, so I quickly dropped it and played aloof. The good old days indeed when influencers were grounded real people unlike these over blown and stylized hacks nowadays.

I watched this video 13 years ago and it was so instrumental and formative to my understanding of my own sexuality and eventually coming out. Thank you so much for sharing your story - I’ll probably never forget this video and I’ll cherish it forever.

I remember watching this video when I was 15 years old and I'm 22 years old now. It helped me a lot. I'm not sure if you were one of the original 5sortastraightguys but you and rosewhip137 may have saved my life when I was younger. So thank you Carl. This is the first time I've looked at your channel in long while and I see you've moved on from youtube. Hope everything is working out for you in the real world.

+Jeremy I'm so happy for the youth growing up today to have access to other people's stories online. Isolation is the most painful aspect of feeling different. I am almost 41 years old and when I was a teen we didn't have the internet. Thanks for sharing your story.

How adorable. It just makes me glad that it's becoming easier (not to say it was easier for you and you weren't nervous...) to come out and feel confident that attitudes have changed so not many would reject you. But this video is almost six years old, we have even moved further ahead 10,000 miles...

I came out as bi to my best friend about 4 or 5 hours ago (I'm British and I'm a girl, 15) I've known and been comfortable with it for a few Months and essentially spent three or four years hoping it was a faze... It takes so much courage, god my heart was pounding and I felt so nervous, but my friend was so accepting xD I know most people won't care or will be shocked at worst :) I'm so happy. Thanks for sharing your experience of coming out so I had the guts to tell people (or rather person

Wow, props to you for coming out in rural NC, thats really cool that everyone pretty much accepted you. I'm at NC State and there more accepting people here than I thought there would be of the gay community. It's just good to know that NC as a state is starting to progress. Your so cool, and you don't act like a sterotypical type of gay person, which is how some of my gay friends act as well which is really neat.

@danwarren97 No. People in 9th grade in the USA are between 14 and 16 years old. I was 15 when I was a freshman in High School in the USA. Even though I was raised in England until I was 9. It was hard to change my accent. Even my ABC's had to be changed. The USA version of "z" is "zee" and not "zed".

Good job, I'm glad it wasn't a nightmare. I have friends who have moved county after telling their parents because they have basically been disowned. Its good you have accepting people around you, and that's because you're a cool person, not because you're gay or straight. X

@Jessy9330 The specific concern in supporting young men in a gay identification is that innumerable studies from major centers in the US and elsewhere note that a twenty-year-old man who identified himself as gay carries 30% (or greater) risk of being HIV positive or dead of AIDS by age 30. A recent Canadian study published concluded that in urban centers gay male identification is associated with a life expectancy comparable to that in Canada in the 1870's. (2007 study)

I get that you feel that you should voice you opinion but there are other ways let me ask you this some of the people who said mean stuff what if you were major close to your sister/brother of a friend or someone you trusted with your life and would never want to hurt and they came up to you and said "I'm gay/ A lesbian/ Bi" What would you do. just remember your words hurt

You did well, normally do not like music playing while telling a story. For some reason the Jazz music was nice. So logistics how old were you when you told the female friend? Did you ask her Not to tell people? How old was your sister? Did she blackmail you badly or just minor stuff? May 2021 I hope you are happy in life thanks for your story.
