I have a 2014 Jetta 1.8 SE with leather and Nav...I love it because it is peppy, fuel efficient and fun...The hard plastics don't bother me because where I rest my elbows are padded. the Nav Screen is ok sized and works really well and I think it is quiet enough. No reliability problems yet!

FYI that screen for the radio, that is the low trim one (as is the car by the looks of it), it is not that simple and cheap as you think. For example, you can see and read what is on it in any sun condition/position and even with polarized glasses, unlike with other manufacturers. After some time it is clear that they spent time even with a low option. And that is why you pay for it.

Decent review but these folks I think do not really understand German engineering. They made too much of the dash screen. These cars are for drivers, not tech geeks. Simple and operational. That is what VW drivers want. We don't want gaudy buttons and color screens. Two hands on the wheel and 20 over the speed limit.

wb6162 I agree. I have had 2 2015 VW Jetta and they drive like a gem. I'm not necessarily concerned about the tech aspect (I do have navi in mine), but the driving aspect.

Should get a 2017 model and review it if you can. The stereo has been upgraded to a touchscreen on all trim levels and it now has LED daytime running lights as standard. Plus the taillights are now tinted from the factory and the SE now has the 1.4L TSI that was introduced for 2016 instead of the 1.8L.

JuxtaGenesis Careful diesel is only efficient on the highway. Stay hybrid if you do more city. I just bought a 2015 tdi and I haven't gotten anywhere near 46mpg yet.

Working for enterprise I took one to state collage pa from Pittsburgh and I saw 36 MPG on avg up and down the hills it felt like it had a ton of power I didn't think it was too bad I liked its simplicity ( I get in some cars and I think I'm in a computer lab) the Hyundai elantra I brought back felt less refined and lacked the pickup the Hyundai was crashy and felt less well assembled then the VW

It's plain but for the cash the 1.8t base se is hard to beat for power, room, trunk, and decent ride. I commute in mine everyday 37 miles one away. No stop and go. Average 80-90 mph freeway and averaging 27mpg. Mine was slightly used (800miles). $16900 before my trade in. Cheeeeeeeeeeep payment and a helluvah car for the dough. Just run. I mean run! From 2.0 gas

I just bought one. I couldn't find one like yours. A "stripper ". No options, at all.. Only 2 on the lot had cloth seats. This is the Noisiest 2015 Golf / Jetta I've ever heard. I've been waiting for this model to come to the States. Are you guys from the States? Canada? I spent $28,000+. The only thing I didn't get was power seats. Everything else. It's SO QUIET INSIDE. Try another one. A loaded one. Then try a Mercedes Class, then try a loaded Jetta again. There's a Redesigned Passat for 2015, but I found out today, it's still only in Europe. I would have spent an extra $5,000 for the 2016, ours, Passat. I'm your newest subscriber. ☺

The S trim came standard with the FM/AM radio with a CD Player. The SE trim came with FM/AM, CD Player, Satellite radio and bluetooth. With the SE trim you could option a connectivity/sunroof package that gave you the Touchscreen radio with 6 Disc CD player and HD Radio.

thats odd, i have the jetta, and the screen is a very modern touch screen display, not rectangular or long just a perfect square, my car is so much quieter than the one you were driving, the style must have been changed since the time of this video and now.

Kind of a shame VW put black plastic mirror caps and cloth seats on this car, which were previously only for the S model. My '14 SE with connectivity actually looks nicer than this. The steering wheel on the '15 seems to be an upgrade, however

Sure, i can answer your questions 😀. 6 speed manual was a must for a fun little ride like this. It feels comfy when you want to pretend its a luxury car and planted when you want to drop it into 3rd and hit the corners.Its a peppy little growling 2.0 liter that sounds like a puppy gargling listerine and a nice turbo engine that whistles at ya when you put your foot down.

Compared to some cars I like simple there are too many cars that just look too busy like they are trying to pack a computer in there ( ford and dodge run everything through the touch screen and it's a royal pain figuring it out and when you drive as many cars as I transport for enterprise simplicity is much liked)

michaelal20 I have a 2015 VW Jetta SE 1.8T and mine looks completely different. I upgraded to the SE with Connectivity and Sunroof. This gave me nav, sunroof, a MUCH nicer center stack, leather seats, upgraded 18 inch wheels, and painted side mirrors with lights. All for only about 2,000 more. If your considering, go with the higher end SE.

My Jetta S 2015 has the technology option that includes a touch screen radio with rear camera. It’s also the 2.0L with a stick shift. Slow, but built like an old Volvo!

Would have liked more info on the car (how it rides and handles, ergonomics, etc) and less obsession with the electronic gadgets and displays. Teutonic functionality is VW's thing. Don't expect a lot of e-toy gimmicks.

I may if I decide to buy a vehicle in this class. I don't mean to be grouchy, but it seems that most reviews concentrate way too much on the "infotainment" systems and driver aids. What's most lacking in modern car design are the very things we used to consider most important: seat comfort, ergonomics, visibility, steering feel and response, braking efficiency, handling, head room, trunk space, fuel efficiency, ease of entry and exit, noise reduction, etc. On the other hand, I realize the reviews have to cover the toys to satisfy the target audience.
