I just got myself this same wireless set and I found out it happens when both the receiver and transmitter are close to each other. Once they are far from each other the interference sound goes away.

I ended up buying a new wired lavalier mic which made my audio much better and clearer. Now I'm unfortunately getting interference from probably my LED lights by aperture. I'm getting robotic clipping in my audio and I am trying to get rid of it

I just got mine sent direct from DJI. It came with the straight (updated)cable. And a firmware that seems newer than what is available on the support site. 02.00.72.83. And I’m using it with the Sure MVL lapel mics. Works great on my Sony A7iii. The Sony gain does need to be way down. Sony has a horrible noise floor.

Any time you crank the gain in your camera it's going to amplify the audio signal AND any noise that's there. If you turn down the gain on the camera and turn up the gain on the transmitter you improve the signal to noise ratio. Every wireless mic has a transmitter and the longer the range the stronger the transmitted signal will be. Not all lav mics were built to be used with a wireless transmitter and don't need the extra shielding when used as intended. Adding a mic that isn't shielded properly for use with a wireless mic is adding an antenna BEFORE the transmitter and that noise will simply be pushed through just like the audio from the mic. If you have a favorite mic that is causing noise in your wireless system you can add a toroid to the cable to remove the stray RF noise. A toroid is basically an RF sponge. It will remove stray RF from the shield BEFORE it gets into the transmitter without having any effect on the audio cable.

@@MichaelWTurner there are several types. Some you slip the wire through and some you wind the cable through and snap together. The snap together option gives you more turns of the mic cable and I've had the best luck with those BUT it's also the bulkiest option. There is also a clip-on version with would work for an existing cable with ends on it.

TBH I remember A7III having extremely poor mic amplifiers compared to the competition in general, like it's its achilles heel. But still, lav interference shows there's some issue with the transmitters themselves. Shame. Anywat I will remember to stick to straight cables and not use the angled ones. bought the dji wireless mic couple months back and its awful if the mic is not directly facing the reciever it looses signal, soon as your slightly turn to the side or walk with your back to the camera the sound is crackling and cuts off wow i wish id never wasted £200 on this im using a wired lav mic now i wont be using anymore wireless technology. anyways great work glad others are talking about this issue 👍

Bought my DJI Mic today to record vlogs and do streams. Decided to return to the store after a 2 minutes test at home. Everything is great - the build quality, and user experience, but the quality is just worse than iPhone 11.

An UPDATE. Sent my 2 Receivers and 4 transmitters to DJI. They came back and I was told the issue was fixed. At my very next shoot, I am having the same issue. I'm recording with Sony FS7 and FS5 cameras. I plug the DJIMic Receiver directly to the cameras. Filming 1080p 23.976fps files. Audio in Camera is of course in perfect sync with Video. Audio from internal DJIMic Transmitter/Recorder keeps loosing frames and moving audio to the left. Essentially, loosing sync every so often. I'm recording 40min-60min videos, but the UN-SYNCING happens a lot. About every 6 minutes there is a loss of about 9.5 frames and the audio in the internal recording shifts to the left of the timeline. I HOPE DJI ADDRESSES THIS ISSUE!!!

That's so annoying. I'm sorry to hear that. With my issue, they sent me a totally different unit. It wasn't new, but it works, so I didn't care. They sent your original units back to you?

@Michael W. Turner Yeah. I received what I believe to be the exact same units. I just heard back from the tech at DJI. And basically they are saying to check if it has the latest firmware "v02.00.72.87" which apparently is supposed to solve this issue. If they are on this firmware, I suspect they will have me re-send the units back. I won't be home until the 8th. So I'll check as soon as I get back. I'll keep you posted.

​@@MichaelWTurner Quick update. Apparently the firmware v02.00.72.87 released on 2023.01.04 should fix the internal recording issues. Weird because when my units came back, they didn't have the latest update. I haven't tested this because it takes a long time to test something like this and I don't have time. But if anyone else is having this issues, you should try updating to this firmware. As per the release notes: " Fixed issue: transmitter audio data was occasionally lost when recording for a long time"

Quick Update: I tested for 29minutes on my A7iii and my 6 DJI Mic Transmitters. It looks like all my audio files are synced properly throughout the 29 minutes (which is the limit of the camera) after applying the new firmware. The only weird thing was that my transmitter #5 stopped recording after 10 mins 35 sec???

I recently purchased DJI MIC and I had the same issues. They walked me through updating the latest firmware. it worked now but the quality of the sounds is not what I expected.DJI was very helpful but I honestly I wouldn't recommend it.

04:48 I'm really glad to find the video. I've been struggling with sync from the audio recordings on the DJI MIC transmitters. The way I use the DJI MIC is capturing motorcycle rides, I have one transmitter in the helmet for voice and another in the back of the bike (out the way of wind noise) to capture the exhaust sound. This is something you just can correct in post as you set this up for a 15-30 min ride and pull the footage at the end. I'm in conversation with DJI right now, hopefully I'll get a replacement unit! How about the issue of showing up to a job and the main unit (receiver) not turning on at all, I tried everything, case and transmitters had full battery, just the receiver decided to die, and to this day hasn't turned on, luckily I had an old Rode Go system as redundancy and was able to do the job, but I can't rely on stuff like this.

I had the same issues with mine. Ended up using the Shure MVL Lavalier because the Rode Lavalier Go gave too much interference. I might try the Saramonic SR-M1 and see if that has less interference. But I also had issues where every few minutes the recorded audio was skipping about 10-15 frames. Super annoying. Luckily the audio that came straight into camera did not have sync issues, but I rather use the internal audio to avoid any interference issues to the camera. I think I'll send out my mics out to DJI and get them replaced with something they have tested (but the new units should already be tested.) I mean, they are useless with that problem otherwise.

@Michael W. Turner Yes. Actually, I have 2 sets. 4 transmitters and 2 receivers. I started having issues where the signal sent to the transmitter and recorded on camera was just fine, but the internal recording kept getting 8-12 frames out of sync from time to time. This made the internal recording useless. I sent in all my units in for repair yesterday. Hope I get them back shortly as I have a shoot in mid March.

I had the straight connection cable and it didn't make a difference in interference levels. In fact, I bought a 3rd party, high quality right angle 3.5mm audio cable and that was a significant improvement but still the interference was there.

Thanks for the video. I almost didn't buy the DJI mic because of hearing about some of these issues. But glad I did. It has really simplified my setup and I have never had any of these issues with it. Runs flawless into my A7iii, through the transmitter. Works great with all of my lav mics (Boya, ADG). Works great into my Samsung s22 ultra. Never any interference, skips or synch issues. I got it because a friend has been using it on his channel without any issues since they first came out. So I think your right about any issues being a defective unit. I use it mostly for the transmitter audio and synch in post so not sure what you mean about the transmitter audio being out of synch. Don't you also have to synch it in post?

The audio phases out of sync so your lips don't sync with audio. When you fix it, your lips will sync for a few seconds and slowly unsync all over again, so there is no fix unless DJI replaces it

I have the exact same interference issue with my DJI. It’s not unusable after Adobe Audition but it’s a very strange problem. I’ve never had a sync issue but I did notice it drifts more then my Rode II. I may try my Rode cable it’s very high quality.

So far I love my DJI wireless set. No interference so far. But there definitly is audio drift when using a lav in de transitter. Even when recording for just 20 minutes. I have not found the perfect fix for it yet when cutting up an interview. I have to sync manually if I have to use the backup audio. (because the connection isn't always great when the DJI is put on the back)

maybe the clock is off bn the device and your camera. try to stretch it and see if it'll help. Otherwise, i saw that there is a new FW update that fixes the issue.

I had mine sent in and the replacement no longer has the buzzing sound. However, the audio quality is very mediocre, I wish I went for the Rode II or something else. But for the convenience and UX, it is pretty good.

HI THERE! I'VE FIXED THE PROBLEM!!!!!! I discovered it by accident. I accidentally plugged the minijack into the headphone output of the receiver and it's work!!! without a minimal noise!!!! 😮😮😮 try to believe. it's work you too???

That's the same as turning up the receiver, so yes it should work. The only issue is that then your gain levels on the DJI receiver no longer have any effect

Hey Michael, thanks for this video. I just received my DJI mics and my issue is the constant hum/his. I hear it in your video as well. As soon as it kicks in there a hum and I can hear it all the way through. Is anyone else hearing that? I bought these just to get rid of that hum. Did DJI have anything to say about that?

Ok, but what about the ambient sound that is extremely perceived by the lavalier? Comparing it with the sennheiser lavalier is 4 or 5 times more, and the audio is very dirty in crowder place. Unluckily with that lavalier interferience is huge. Is there any mic "hard" as the sennheiser that we can use with DJI?

For the interference problem with the Rode Go Mic. I could solve it 100% by apply 5- 10 layers of aluminium foil around the connector of the rode lavalier. Its only the connector which capture this interference

Hi...I hear that sound to, on my Sony S3, on panasonic gh5s it doesn't, because it has the option of audio input in the menu, not just condenser microphone like Sony. You can't do anything, whatever cable you change. it is on the electronic side of the camera. And I don't think that a firmware will change the problem....This is Sony, poor settings, good image, Panasonic, Good settings, poor image

That's not uncommon with a 2.4ghz system. UHF does way better in that regard.

I always mic the officiant and groom separately. I never mic brides. Also use the magnet on the dji to your advantage. You can attach it to an officiant's clothes using that or simply clip it anywhere. It really isn't that noticeable. Also, turn the lights down to their lowest level so you don't have green and red lights showing. Also, I would say use the safety track feature, so you have a slightly lower track in case things get loud. Honestly, I only use my tascam dr10ls for wedding ceremonies, but could honestly switch to the DJIs at this point. I'm just stuck in my ways though.

Sorry for making a request in the comments, but here it is. I bought two DJI MICs, and I have an issue with both kits. The DJI MIC doesn't pick up sound beyond 6 meters, and when the person turns their back, the sound becomes completely noisy. They advertise it with a "250-meter transmission range," but even at 6 meters, all my sounds are inaudible. Do you have a solution? I updated one unit to see if there was any difference, but it's still the same.

Hey, Michael! Have u ever had any experience using other wireless transmitters and receivers? I bought this dji mic a week ago but already facing some issues... My PC doesn't recognize the transmitters, so i cannot copy my recorded audio files to the pc... Also I found the audio to be quite muffled compared to what I used before... It's like heavy compressed out of the box... Do you have any indications for us to be replacing the Dji Mic? I think I'm gonna send it for a refund. Don't know with what I'm gonna replace it though :(

Wow. That's a strange one. Did you try a different cable? My audio is definitely not muffled at all. It actually sounds pretty good. Definitely sounds like yours is defective. If you are in the return period. I would definitely return or exchange it. The only other comparable mic system is rode wireless GO II. People seem to like them. I've never used them

Thank you Michael for the clarifying video. I have a query: in the transmitter + receiver + camera configuration. When selecting on the receiver the option to record in M+ with backup on the transmitter, the R channel on the camera drops one or two points in relation to L. The Left channel stays the same. I have tried it with both mics and the same thing happens. Does it happen to you? Thank you!

I definitely wouldn't say that. I use mine for youtube and a backup mic at weddings all the time. I slide a sleeve onto the mic and put the mic into it and use the record feature. My biggest issue was the sync problem, but that was because mine was defective

@@ignorantboxing I have successfully shot interviews with it. If there is interference use the techniques I mentioned in the video. The main thing is if you want to use a lavalier, you have to find one that works like the sarominic. Someone made a vid about specific mics that work

Thank you for the video, I have connection problem with the dji mic. Have you ever experienced that? It loses connection sooo easy even if the talent is in front of me in 2 meters. Hey, Mike! You are doing a great job, I think the interference is mainly the settings on the camera. Certain features need to be turned off and then interference will go off. Try that too. I use a Canon 250D and the sound is amazing.

Yeah, no it's a DJI issue. I was using it on a Sony FX3 and FX6, with and without a variety of lav's and cables. Mine is defective as well.

Rode lav go has one of the worst RF interference unless you don’t use the receiver and just record directly into the transmitter, but then you have to sync audio in post (and possibly retime audio if out of sync).
