Loved the mini sermon at the end of this. I'm currently laid off at work and get frustrated with the pressure infeel when things dont go well with job search, gym, family commitments etc. This reminded me things will be okay regardless the outcome and effort we give is honorable.

Running such a complex, world-wide event is enormously challenging -- and you will never please everyone (maybe anyone!), but... CrossFit has such an enormous pool of practical, intelligent, and well-intentioned people (as above, and in other places) in their community that could capably help them to avoid obvious errors and make things better in all types of ways. HQ would be smart to loosen up its ego and lean on these resources. The silver lining to many of the sport-side problems is that obvious solutions are so readily apparent and doable.

I was the most into Crossfit during Rich's era of 2011-2015ish - I remember seeing Crossfit Games on ESPN and thinking how much bigger it could grow. Sucks that we actually hear Angelo have to tell his friend that he has no clue where he could watch his event lol - for sure the Games is different than regionals so it might not be as prioritized, but it's bummer seems like the marketing/brand growth is going backwards.

The other thing that needs to be fixed is athletes getting full placing points for being capped in workouts. You can get capped in half the workouts and be 10 places higher then someone who was able to complete every test.

Watched Hiller’s video and he is bang on!!!! If they want to promote CrossFit (Games, Brand, Health) then if they did an example of the movements AND then show what scaled looks like in CrossFit Gyms for those in the stands or watching on their phones. Then those folks who think CrossFit is the Games might look into joining a CrossFit gym because it shows it can be done. Folks have to wait for the set up of the field anyway.

Such a good podcast. 100% agree. As someone watching from another country (Canada) I'd love to get better media coverage and would definitely do a ppv to actually be able to access that. The coverage is not good from crossfit hq. I watch Mayhem and Buttery Bros after the events are already over. The live coverage is terrible.

Rich. Probably don’t get to these comments. But I can tell you brother, CrossFit fits me in all the ways that are insane and therapeutic. But you are totally 100% correct in that, this is all passing and at the end of the day god wants passion in your life and that shines through any (pain) you might go through to be your best self. It took me going through a lot at 54 to make it - keep it simple stupid! Thanks Rich

Such good critiques, discussions, dissections of Crossfit. Love that you also try and be solution based, rather than just moaning. CrossFit has a long way to go, and they generally run everything so badly and get away with it. I’m glad yous are there to highlight these inconsistencies, CrossFit needs it to do better.

This also just reminds me of the time when Kara Saunders was injured and she could have just stepped on the floor, not done a rep and she would’ve won the games. But withdrew due to injury. But then you see people coming out and not completing a minimum work requirement and progressing through things. It’s pretty wild. Would hope to see some changes to the scoring system made. Because if someone is finishing a workout 5 mins ahead or lifting much heavier, or being capped etc. there should be a higher or lower point score. If you’re capped and can’t complete a workout you shouldn’t get the same points as the person who was the lowest out of the people who could complete the workload if that makes sense. Could be half way through a workout with a cap but get 1 point less than someone who did the whole workout in that time. If you want the fittest on earth you’d naturally reward the person who completes it the fittest. Definitely do hope there is some change up to the score system to reflect the work load at some time in the future.

It wasn't said and I'm not speaking for anyone, but it sounds like CrossFit HQ is jealous that Mayhem Athlete, HWPO, PROVEN and I'll even say Rogue Fitness is more successful than the CrossFit brand. CrossFit HQ has done so much damage to themself I don't think they'll ever be able to recover and only time will tell what's going to happen to them.

Episode was great guys and agree with everything you guys said about the sport, community, and fixing CrossFit HQ. Also their decision to put ind event 1 and team 3 exclusive to the CrossFit podcast was terrible. Camera feeds were awful, I guess to increase their podcast views? Instead of the usual live stream which is not flawed.

RE: Getting the right people to the games. You have that at a lot of competitions. Olympics limit participants per country, weightclass etc. Same goes for most world championships. Why not make A and B group at the games? Especially in smaller markets it’s harder to go pro (Africa, Asia, Latin America,..), so you got to bring those athletes in in another way

The athletes have built such a big platform for themselves that at times it seems the only thing that CrossFit hq is providing is an arena in which you guys can compete under a respected name "Crossfit Games".. sadly the direction this is heading is that you guys (hwpo, prvn, mayhem etc) join forces and make something better happen for the professional athletes, the community side of Crossfit for me is not in jeopardy given the star power you guys bring to the table and your capacity to market what you do successfully and more times than not better than hq is willing to put any sort of effort into. In the end the mission is to provide health to the masses via exercise and community support, not by repping a company name
