I made the choice long ago, naturally aspirated bolt on only cars. For track cars, it is just a headache to do anything otherwise. Best bet is to buy two cars. One to beat on that runs and the other if you want crazy power, don't expect it to run flawlessly.
@scourgeofbloodclan3986
@scourgeofbloodclan3986 3 жыл бұрын
Or just buy a daily driver and a factory fast car for the track. Heavily modifying a car, and keeping it running, is a pain in the ass and a head ache. And keep in mind that racing is also expensive so when you go to add that to the running costs of the heavily modified car.

@Michael_Lorenson
@Michael_Lorenson 4 жыл бұрын
Commercials pay the bills. If they really bother you, but you don't want to be that schmuck who 'steals' You Tube by using an ad blocker, get Premium. It costs about the same as Netflix or Hulu. I have Premium, and I spend FAR more time here than on either of those (which I do also have). There's really no comparison, in fact. For me, it's worth every penny and then some.
@mattf49006

@@Michael_Lorenson ....every freaking video of vin wiki and every other vlog I follow here are sponsored,have patreon and viewer fed support and at least two ads on the screen from the creator for the sponsor. I dont mind ads or sponsored content ( it indeed pays the content creator unlike you tube premium) but for fucks sake put a 30 second ad before the content instead of a series of 6 to 14 second ads every 3 to 5 minutes in a 20 minute video
@Michael_Lorenson
@Michael_Lorenson 4 жыл бұрын
@@mattf49006 Well, I agree that Vinwiki overdoes it in an obnoxious way. Honestly I'd forgotten about that because I don't have to deal with it anymore, but it was actually one of the sites that pushed me into Premium. So I gotta give you that. And Premium subs not paying anything to creators does surprise me. Still, from my perspective strictly as a viewer, Premium is a no-brainer. I'm philosophically opposed to IP theft, which I consider ad blockers to be. I'm sure lots of people would disagree, but we're not going to change each other's minds, so let's not go to war over it.
@mattf49006
@mattf49006 4 жыл бұрын
@@Michael_Lorenson ..I'm of the same opinion of ad blockers on content sites such as you tube myself however they have moved to sprinkling then thru out the videos often right in the middle of a important part of the video I dont mind a 30 second deal before or after as it does pay the creator ad revenue which is fair...unfortunately sites like twitch know this and creators as migrating to other venues

I mean the guy with the blue s2000 was probably wanting to enjoy for it a bit before going full send with it after a new motor. Also a new motor is supposed to be broke in most times which definitely helps it long term. I know a guy who had a “race” transmission built but was told to break it in alittle before doing really heavy pulls, well he ignored it. After a few days of pushing it, trans blew like a grenade.

One of my cousins friends dad had a lindenfelter corvette. That was back around 2002. I had just a regular stock V6 2000 Mercury Cougar. My cousins friend had an awsome looking Grand Prix GTX. My cousins friend taught me how to do a 360 at almost highway speeds in my cougar. It was awesome. Doing that on a small 2 lane road and pulling it off without going off road was the coolest thing I've ever did in a car. Good times.

The cars are well built an sorted. However when you push every single part to the absolute limit do expect things to break all the time. The way to get the best built car. Don't tune it to be drag ready. Tune it to be streetable.

Here’s your answer to the age old “wHy bUy a SupEr cAr wHen U caN JusT mOd.. ?” trope. You have to be 110% dedicated to getting those numbers out of something not made to do so. Not like all super cars are ultra reliable but they’re definitely far more live-able most of the time.

Hot Rod Magazine (iirc) did a story on why you should race on a track, and why you shouldn't street race. I think they had three cars for this. None of them survived the day, one car smashed into the wall, which I believe they made the finale. The driver was ultimately ok, but the takeaway was 'thank god we're at a track and there's an ambulance and EMTs right here, on the street this could have been a tragedy'.

Sports Compact Car did the bring your tuned car challenge. Car and Driver, road and track and motor trend all have done a tuner shop challenge. The one I remember the most was all the modded 4banger cars for car and drivers tuner challenge got their ass handed by a stock C5 Z06. Also the 1st SCC tuner challenge had a Yellow Ferrari 360 Modena winning, the owner of the car was the owner of AXIS rims.

You should get a Corvette or AMG GT-R from Tikt here in Germany if possible for future episodes. They build crazy track weapons with good reliability. They have a C6 ZR1 that beat a 918 Spyder (same driver) around Hockenheim and that C6 lasts for years now. I think they would do pretty good at sorted.

No, its when you calculate how much you've spent on the car itself and realize you could have bought a house as a renovation project and flipped it and made profit and your wife would have been happy. Having cars as a hobby, generally guarantees that you're throwing money away unless you're on the high levels of collecting low-production/special edition cars and hoping they double in value in 20 years

sc400 with the 1uz v8 as that motor is a hidden gem of Toyota being very smooth, having internals that could take a massive beating and add a few bits into it to make it 1k hp capable, and last being something that's not overly done compared to other motors.

I’ve been there with my old S13. I saved up for years to build it up. It only had 380whp, but it broke all the time. I stayed up till 3am working on it all the time. I dumped a bunch of money into it all the time. And they closed our only track here in Hawaii. I got tired of dumping money into it And sold it for nothing compared to what I had into it. Now, fifteen years later. I really wish I still had that car lol.
