Germany rules europe car market. My e46 is more comfortable and has more tech than 2008 Auris. 2 months ago I did test drive both. Maybe that Auris had issues cause it had bad plastic shaking sound. And japanese cars have cheap and bad meterials in interior. Big three from germany will dominate europe forever

This is a pretty cool car considering the features. My first car was a '90 Honda Civic 2 door almost exactly the same shape. It was fantastic in all way except for in a crash but that is hardly fair to compare 28 year old tech. There are pretty damn good cars in the subcompact space now though. A nice used Honda fit is what i have had for 5 years bought 4 years old or so. basically just an updated version of this. Small, super agile, good driving, sporty enough with manual trans, safer, easy to fix, cheap parts super reliable and actually amazing for a outdoor friendly vehicle. Its great in the snow with good tires and good enough to go up reasonable logging roads for camping and fishing. It's certainly no SUV but with some slower driving and careful maneuvering on the rocky stuff it will get there eventually. Since i don't put a ton of kms on it since we don't daily drive, it should last easy another 10+ years. Cost per year or km stupid low.

@@vanhakaveri probably not in the netherlands, i was working here for two years and there is a lot of small cars. They pay ridiculous taxes if they have bigger cars with bigger engines. Also it is a small country, so you have speed control quite often, again tickets are not so small, so rarely somebody is going fast, non highway roads are limited to 80km/h.

But your car is fantastic , I think it was the last of the cars that the home mechanic could repair just about everything himself , Look after your car and it will be going long after the rolling computers that came after it are in the scrap yard , thanks for the video you are polite and good manners and that is nice to see these days .

4A-FE! That engine outlived my 1992 Corolla that had rusted out brake and fuel lines that would have cost too much to fix - thank you road salt. I remember that the Toyota-branded cassette deck also used to eat tapes fairly regularly. I miss that car - it was so easy to check all fluids and change common parts like the oil filter and battery. Not like my Focus, where the battery is halfway under the dash.

I have a question and don’t know where to ask, so I’ll ask it here. Car: 2006 Lexus ES 330, 115k miles. Starting 18 months ago, it started making a funny noise. Took to my mechanic who checked it out and couldn’t determine the cause. He suggested I have tires rotated and balanced, which I did, but didn’t fix the noise problem. Noise description: A constant, random thumping noise whenever going over 30mph. Some passengers say they can’t hear it, but from the drivers seat, it’s more pronounced. Tempo of noise doesn’t change when car changes speed.

Hey, I had the Toyota Starlet and it would not Die. There is one P8 for the first generation right here in the street. Toyota from the early 90ies are strong cars!

Two things this Toyota had that North American models did not... The headlight height adjust... Many cars in Europe and Asia have a control inside the car to adjust the height of the headlamps. This control was near his shifter next to the mirror control. Very Cool. And the controls concerning headlight brightness next to the fuel quality control... A switch that tells the computer to adjust the timing based on the octane of the fuel being burned. Both of these are unheard of here in North America. DOT/SAE both in Canada and USA don't want driver adjustment of lowbeam height or brightness from the drivers seat in real time. Nice Review.

ATX-CVPI: That particular flavor was widely available in the USA....they were all assembled in Fremont,California (not exactly cheap compared to a Tercel/other competitors of the time)......build quality is what you would expect of the UAW...not so great....but at least most of the running-gear/switch gear came from Japan. I have the other odd-ball sibling....a 5 Speed 1991 All-Trac Corolla Wagon....used the exterior sheet-metal and wrap-around windshield of the Geo-Prizm/and of other Corolla versions sold outside the USA . A regular FWD Corolla Wagon used the same sheet-metal and windshield of the US Spec sedan. Fortunately for us North Americans, The FWD/All-Trac Wagons were all made in Japan.....none of the shitty cars/trucks qualities that came from the Toyota Plant in California.

The US as a country is just far too young. It, and the people inside need to mature and they are starting to. Remember, the country is only a few hundred years old compared to, for example, China which is a way, way older established country.
