It's much better for your wallet as well as the environment to clean them and put them to use, instead of just dumping them in a landfill. to control the mess for really any fluid change where supports or lift arms are in the way, you can use aluminum foil to cover the object and make a channel guiding the oil to your drain pan. I usually place a magnet on the foil to keep it in place. Afterwards, i put the foil somewhere in the engine bay where it wont fall out and then you have a funnel for topping off oil. Bonus is that with parts not as coated in oil, its easier to identify a leak location.love the channel. Keep it up!

couple of things to remember when using K&N: Dont use hot water, the cotton will shrink & cause a spot where dirt can get in even after oiling it. Also, dont use compressed air any higher than 30 psi this again will cause an imperfection that will allow dirt in even after oiling it. I usually clean the filter, allow it to dry in the sun then look thru the filter in the sunlight. You can see where the bad spots are in the filter. You should be mindful of these imperfections because as K&N states with their warranty that it will last a long time but only if serviced properly. :)

There's actually a reason there's different types of plugs other than longevity. Different cars electrical systems put out different voltages and different plugs need different voltages to fire properly. Along with different thickness in insulators and igniters. While iridium may work in a car that calls for copper it can not perform as well as what is called for

I saw that also and thought that now there is no way I’m buying a lambo that rust in just 12 years, especially on a truck drivers salary.

Spark plugs do have a temperature rating and different spark plugs have different spark characteristics during those temperature differences. The spark gap will play a role as to how hot or cold the spark is and can affect ignition timing and whether or not you have detonation at higher temps and rpms or dead spots on ignition. It can also play a role in engine temperatures and exhaust gas temperatures depending on how the spark ignites the fuel and the flame propagates across the top of the cylinder. Also can lead to premature wear of the spark plug electrode or cracking of the ceramic.

What happens when you don't gap the spark plugs? I don't remember doing that when I installed some iridiums in my 944, what would be different if you forget to do it?
@aarongray78615 жыл бұрын
The gap is important because it gives the ideal amount of spark for the optimumal combustion rate. Wider or narrower gap makes less ideal spark that can result in a drop in performance.

Or use filters that have oils on them, can cause the MAF sensor and other components that need to read the air fuel mixture. Resulting in bad readings of the sensors and air fuel mixture.

Not sure about your K&N filters Tavarish, but my K&N filter says, "Do Not use a blow nozzle on the filter," because it damages the media. Maybe they have changed them since I got mine though.

Great content again Freddy!👍👍 However, at 7:28, that’s reeeally not a good way to gap spark plugs⚡️... get yourself an inexpensive *_Spark Plug Gap Tool_* , that way you won’t run the risk of cracking the porcelain/ceramic parts of the plug (often not seen by the naked eye 👁!!). Yes, I’ve seen it done!👎

It looks like you re-used the old coils. Bad idea, IMO. Coils do lose efficiency with age, and those are 16 years old.

Use a 2 liter or smaller plastic bottle or cardboard, trim to fit between oil drain and lift arm. use to flow oil past arm of lift into drain pan. Keep a little cleaner. May need a hand from a friend or family member. Great videos!

Just fyi spark plugs are way more than on and off. There are different heat ranges. Some provide bigger/ stronger spark than others. Turbo cars use a "colder" spark than a high compression engine would. Also a different plug is needed for different fuels such as gas, e85, alcohol, methanol etc.

The coolant issue is just for coolants that use Ethylene Glycol. Most coolants now changed to Propylene Glycol which is not poisonous. But read the bottle to make sure.

Not supposed to use compressed air on a K&N because it is an oiled gauze filter and compressed air can blow holes through the filter material. All you need to do to clean a K&N is spray it down with the K&N degreaser ( After you have tapped it a few times to remove heavy debris like the rodent droppings.) and LIGHTLY scrub with a mild detail brush then rinse with warm water and leave to air dry and finally oil it.
