Schiff never talks about manipulation. Elliott will mention it, but never the mechanisms. I agree with your assessment of silver, of course. I don't think it's hard to manipulate gold, though. We must also remember that the gold market has been artificially manipulated downwards by the paper gold market for decades giving a head of pent up pressure. @@rap3208 I'm well aware of that. Still, despite any claims, BRICS aren't adopting a single currency, let alone a gold backed one. Russia is buying Chinese product with crude oil and gold, as China will no longer accept rubles for payment. China is so dedicated to their own currency manipulation that they have two separate currencies - one for external trade and one for the internal economy. South Africa and Brazil are in shambles as usual. That leaves India with any chance of backing their currency, which is highly unlikely since they are more concerned about modernizing their military for a confrontation with China.

Saying that gold is going up is demonstrating a misunderstanding of gold's position. Gold is not an investment, not a hedge, or anything else but a store of value. Gold, in buying power, has roughly the same value as it did 100 years ago: a house that cost 6kg of gold a centurary ago costs 6kg of gold today. I follow three indicators: gold-USD, gold-CHF (Swiss Francs), USD-CHF. I also keep an eye on the EUR but it's a slowly sinking ship for the time being. Since 1MAR24 gold has been going up measured in USD and CHF roughly by the same amount, USD-CHF roughly remaining constant. The obvious, but wrong conclusion would be that gold is going up in value. But history says that doesn't happen. What I suspect is happening since March is that the western economies: USD, EUR, GBP, CHF, AUS, ..., are behaving in unison and are all weakening together. In other words, western nations' economies, i.e. more or less the world's economy, is in a critical state. Why? I think the end of the BTFP on 11MAR24 has much to to say. George covered the BTFP a while back but in short it was a safety net for failing banks following Sovereign, SVB, and Signature's demise. If a significant bank in the US, UK, Europe, ..., collapses now the whole lot goes. The three things that are worth having are gold, real estate, and debt - particularly a mortgage of the house you are living in.

Quick answer: work, buy assets, and make those assets produce currency basically making assets work for you. Multiple streams of income and compounding over time is your friend. To preserve living standards I trade my currency for money (fiat for gold and silver). When I see a big sale (bear market) and I see an opportunity in income producing assets I sell my gold and buy that.

I think it'll likely peak before 2030. The last leg up in secular bull markets are defined by relatively fast parabolic price moves. Look at 1927-1929 (stocks), 1978-1980 (gold), 1996-2000 (stocks). The blow-off top gains speed as it accelerates vertically until it hits it's final price high on a secular basis. Now that gold passed $2000 resistance, it's in uncharted territory. There's no technical resistance to slow it down so who knows how high it will go or how long it will take to get there. But I'm guessing it'll be somewhere around 2026-2027.
