I think that if the water in pond 2.0 was allowed to sit still, the silt will settle out and wouldn't look like a muddy brown mess. The clay particles are very fine so it would take some time for it to clear up. A heavy rainfall with water running into the pond might stir it up again and cause the muddy brown all over. At the end of the day, it's your pond. Do what pleases you. Thanks for bringing us along

100% agree! Too many cooks spoil the broth. Everyone has an opinion. Some people are crazy, and insist their opinions are the only right ones. They're still crazy, and now stalking you for not following their advice...lol. Hearing opinions, to take in different points of view, is one thing. Following the crowd isn't always the best thing for you. 😉 Always weigh the options and do what's best for you.

I don’t care much for the blue dye but if the only other option is chocolate brown I can appreciate the choice. I’m wondering if using a flocculant (one of my favorite new words) might help to get the mud to settle to the bottom.

Get the additive that settles the particles in the water to clear it up. Maybe do a test on the smaller pond see if it works well for you. Then you can add it to the upper pond if it ever holds water long enough to warrant it.
@dubdan68726 күн бұрын
Personally don't like the pond dye but I can't argue that it looks better than the muddy water it was. Don't know if the muddyness of the water would ever get better (I suspect not). In which case pond dye is better than no pond dye. If there was a way to flatten the dye colour a little it would maybe be better. At the end of the day it's your pond.

I like the pond dye for the initial pond building while you are moving dirt around and stirring things up. I might even keep using it in the upper pond; but eventually I would probably stop using it in the lower ponds. It just depends on how much each clears up after you are no longer moving dirt around. As for the upper pond, it is worth it to keep after it even past next year. It has the potential to be too amazing. It also ready looks cool and it isn't even near full yet.

You do you! Always look forward to your channel, no matter what project you have going on. Also, very happy you have a caring, helpful and knowledgeable neighbour in Doug. We should all be so lucky! The first pond was purposely built for a specific reason. Folks, something worth doing is not always going to be once and done, or never require ongoing maintenance. Adam and his family have made successful financial choices that have allowed for big projects and purchase decisions to be made. No matter what WE the viewers may think, the overall decision as to when what, and where to belong to Adam and the family. Do I like the first pond where it is? Yes very much so because it adds great value to the picturesque view from the sitting arena of the house's back backyard. ❤❤❤
