I traded in my 2014 Impreza for the 2019 base Crosstrek in khaki blue and I LOVE it! I can’t believe the difference the ground clearance makes! And the space is amazing. The one snow storm we’ve had so far was 8 inches ... I took unplowed side streets due to gridlock traffic and it was like a tank! My neighbor even bought one in the same color! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😊

I went from 2009 Impreza base to the new 2019 crosstrek premium and I'm loving it. I recommend it to anyone that can get it. Handling feels amazing very small body roll and the brakes are really amazing the eyesite system is really cool to have. my final overall score 10/10

I love my 19 Crosstrek. I put 15” Method MR502 matte black wheels with BFG KO2 tires. Great wheel and tire setup for trails. I also put the RokBlox mudflaps which do mount with the factory splash guards. For just Incase purposes I have the Raceseng front and rear tow hooks. Great daily and weekend getaway car.

A month ago, I traded in my 2004 ford f 1-50 FX4 for a new 2019 Crosstrek premium. I just love it, I am so impressed with the way it drives and handles. I am getting 34 MPG on the freeway, It has great power. It keeps up with the traffic in Dallas very well, I read that it is way under powered but that is not true. I have always had trucks, Not anymore. I bought the cool Grey Khaki, Awesome looking and it is the best driving vehicles i have ever owned at age 54.

I work in home health covering small town and rural areas, my 2019 Crosstrek premium has been amazing, the ground clearance and AWD handle every muddy rutted steep driveway, snowy weather, very capably and the interior is very comfortable . I work on a laptop inside my vehicle between visits was surprised how much I enjoy the heated seat feature because I used to think that was ridiculous. I spend a lot of hours in the car and its the best choice I could have made. Eyesight assist has been not a nuisance but a good feature , like a copilot with you on long days.

I have the blue 2019 Crosstrek and I honestly love my car,the look of it,the ride/handling in the winter,the storage space and maneuverability,the gas mileage and the fact that it's a manual transmission like my first car was(Subaru DL)!

I agree I have a 2018 Crosstrek in the same color as yours and I love it! I drove it to northern Alabama 3 months ago and it was comfortable and I only needed to stop for gas once going down from SE PA, around 900 miles each way and once coming home! One tank of gas I averaged 34.5 mpg and the other was 38.4. That was my calculation not the car's. Driving anywhere from 60 to 80 mph on the interstates and PA turnpike! The car was cruising around 1500 to 1750 rpm except while going up steeper grades then around 2000 to 2200 rpm such as in SE Virginia on I81 and in NE Tennessee on I40! I have to go to my dealer next Tuesday for a RECALL, not safety or mechanical but for an update to the head unit for some improvements to it. By the way before I bought this car I had a 1998 Legacy wagon, for 20 years I loved it and never had any mechanical problems except for rust on the suspension and exhaust because of the 20 winters and road salt. Since your in MA you know all about the road salt used on the roads during the winter storms!

i have the same car. Love it. Taking it all around usa. Did great in the mountains of colorado. Eyesight cannot find the lane marking in snow for obvious reasons but adaptive cruise seems to work fine even in snowy weather. My neighbor was digging her seadan out of the snow last week in chicago while I got in and drove off no problem :D

I’ve heard so many negative things about how poorly they preform in the mountains (allegedly) and I was sacred cuz I wanted to drive thru the Rockies this year. Glad to hear they hold up well.

Got my wife a 2019 Limited, traded her 2016 what an improvement. I like it nearly as much as my 2016 WRX for comfort, quiet, and ease around town. We has 4 inches of snow last week; no sweat. True it accelerates slowly, but handles our 80 MPH highways (Wyoming) just fine.

Congrats on the purchase! I know the power is a sore subject on this car. While it would be nice to have more torque at the very least, the car powers on just fine for what it is. So far no problems on my end. Going to document the oil consumption/hp/cvt reliability through the year since it's a hot topic.

Love my '18. Agree with everything you said except you may be too optimistic about the trunk space. Yup, this car is all about practicality right down to the styling. I love that it has no oversized grilles or fake ducts which is so common (and tacky) with new cars nowadays.

I have a 2013 and had it in the shop for the valve spring recall. The dealer loaned me a 2019 and I love that you can get one WITHOUT all the tech stuff and eyesight... but I don't like how the CVT "fake shifts". I don't mind the rubber band effect on my '13 because that's just a CVT doing what it does best and staying in the power band, but the fake shifts on the '19 actually made it feel slower. Just be yourself, CVT... and please don't break (so far, so good).

6 months into a 3-year lease of a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek (best car I've ever had). I drive 20K miles/year in Upper Michigan and this early winter proved out the AWD control and stability I was looking for. You actually have to control the tendency to OVERDRIVE the car - because it can GO like a mother, but it can't STOP like a mother. Considering snow tires just to get better stopping power in the snow. Downsides: Defroster is underpowered - and, while you can Remote Start the car in full defost mode that mode doesn't seem to be available via the selector knob. Weird. Also, on a dry road I had a pickup turn left in front of me, plenty of room - but it didn't clear the LEFT lane fast enough for the Eyesight System, which AGGRESSIVELY applied the brakes. I don't want a repeat on snow or ice...

We have a 2016 in hyper blue and it is a great little rig - it's not exciting, but it is useful, capable, has great range, comfortable and looks great. I did tick the box for the optional Kicker stereo upgrade so we can throw down some bass with the sub in back when cruisin' the mall parking lot. The Eyesight System is very capable for what it is designed to do but honestly bugs the crap out of me so we did not get it. One final bonus - it is absolutely the easiest car to change the oil on I have ever owned - everything is open and so easy to get to.

I traded a 2015 BMW 428i Xdrive for a 2019 Crosstrek Limited. I love it. It’s an excellent daily driver, has way more toys than the BMW and is perfect for anything the road could throw at you. The interior, comfort, all of it is just as good if not better than the Beemer. Subaru did a great job with the 2019.

2012 2.0D manual (not even reverse camera) I've used it in snow and mud on a daily basis. Only conversion was: snow tyres in winter, off-road tyres in the summer. Never missed power. I have ropes, and power pull in the boot, but I haven't used them other than to rescue others. In an XV one tends to forget why it is so sensational to drive off-road for other brands. This thing just goes....

I've owned a crosstrek for just over a year now, the ground clearance is excellent..... I do quite a bit of minor off-road, so that's why I didn't consider the impreza. The CVT is fine, very smooth....manual mode in tight uphill and downhill driving is excellent. Visibility is excellent. Permanent AWD awesome, none of this part-time AWD that other Japanese cars/SUV's offer. Much more comfortable drive and better/classy quality of materials compared to my wife's year old Mazda 3.

Good review, I can see that you just got the car, it is very nice car, I traded my 2014 Impreza for the top trim 2019 , love it. The only complain, is the sound insulation, when driving on Hwy , it is not quite at all, that is why I got the top trip that comes with a better sound system :), I highly recommend this car, this is my fourth Subaru.

Thank you for the feedback and support! Great car overall indeed. I feel as though during highway speeds the tires may have a lot to do with the noise that comes through. Subaru OEM tires have never been the best for being on the quieter side. Although the newer models are starting to come with better tires in my opinion.

Hey bud! I have a 2010 audi Q5 3.2 v6 right now with just 55k miles on the clock, love this car for almost everything except that it's mpg is a little too much for me for daily driving. Thinking of trading it to a 2019 crosstrek or 2019 mazda cx3/cx5. Have you tested the mazdas? I saw their interior quality is class leader but are they really "fun to drive" as what reviewers are all saying? Also one last thing, from your personal point of view is it justifiable to own both 2019 impreza and a crosstrek?? Thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks for the feedback and watching! Funny you should mention the CX3/CX5. I am actually reviewing the entire Mazda CX lineup (CX-3/CX-5/CX-7) this weekend. I should have a more video in the next 1-2 weeks on the entire lineup. We bought the Crosstrek for my fiance as her daily commuter. The Impreza is my daily driver, as I have ordered the 2020 Toyota Supra for my second car. We both prefer AWD for a daily driver in MA due to the unexpected weather conditions. I will do further research on the Mazda CX lineup and reply back sooner before the video reviews go up to help give you a better idea on the models. In case you can't wait for the reviews. Cheers!

Memory seats I can agree with. The 2019 models allow you to DL an app that lets you auto start/control the vehicle from you phone. You don’t need an additional start key fob. Actually works great and is more up to date.

You do not have to subscribe to OnStar. The auto start application is a separate app/function. It's about $75, a one time fee up front, and that includes the full app, with auto on/off and the ability to set all the climate controls and defrosters, etc...

No worries. Subaru does provide that OnStar assistance when purchasing/leasing a new car, for free for three months. Once that trial is over it would not impact the separate app for the Auto On/Off as they are not linked together. I will say, Subaru still offers a 3year/36Kmile roadside assistance for free, on new vehicles. However, you have to call the toll free number located on a couple stickers on the window or in the instruction guide generally placed in the glove box. I have used that service numerous times for towing, or fuel, etc...and they work very fast and are pleasant to work with. I have never used the OnStar system on any models even though there was a trial.

Thank you! Honestly this was a concern of mine when I did a review of the previous year Crosstrek, that it only came with one engine option. It definitely isn't quick, however highway merging/passing is just fine. It has enough pep to move along without concern.

I had a 2013 Forrester which I lost in a divorce, she got it of course. I just ordered a 2019 Crosstrek premium with a slew of options. I ordered it in the cool gray khaki as well. Not sporty. Its purpose is to do as you wrote, save you changing between winter and all season tires. I only put them on a month a go. Was great on that sloppy storm a few weeks ago. Loud tire but I live in a hilly area outside of Boston and need the extra traction. No snowplows come up my hill until the storm is over. @@NEMotoGuy

I love everything about it, but HATE that the dash does NOT have a temperature engine gauge.😖 stressful not knowing the temp of the engine and regret purchasing knowing that this vehicle does not have that. One thing my father always had me periodically glance at was the temp gauge. Are Subaru’s known for heating up?

Thank you for the feedback and comment! I am certain that you can customize the trip gauge in the dash LCD screen to add the engine temperature. I know that is one of the gauges I have added on there as I am very OCD about knowing what is happening with my car at all times as well. I will record the video tomorrow afternoon when the sunlight is better. Will have a video out this weekend. In the meantime I will try to explain how to customize the settings. When you press "Info" on the left steering wheel column, press until the center gauge is on the "Press and Hold" screen. Then hold the "Info" button until a setting menu pops up. Then locate the "Screen Setting" option and click on that. Next a "Triple Meter" option should pop up. Click on that, and once in this menu you should be able to add and remove any gauge you prefer being on the triple meter screen. A couple being the Engine Oil Temp, Water Temp, etc....Hope this helps for now. I will plan on making and uploading a video step by step tutorial in the next few days. Cheers!

Absolutely, it could definitely use a more powerful motor option at the least. Not sure if they would drop the 2.4 from the Ascent into this or the 2.0 FA from the WRX. I think the FA motor would be great with the twin scroll turbo possibly de-tuned to 215HP at the least. It is okay in the current state, but there is room for improvement.

I truly would not let the negative feedback scare you from long term ownership. Especially since the vehicle is brand new and still under warranty around that mile mark for powertrain. As long as you keep up with regular proper maintenance and do not beat on the transmission then I am sure the vehicle longevity will be just fine.

Yes, this is on the smaller side of the SUV/Hatchback style vehicles. It is definitely easy to maneuver around tight spaces if that is a concern. No real issues with blind spots around the car either. If you opt to get the limited model, like this one, with the eyesight and the blind spot monitoring with reverse camera sensors, this is definitely a great car for a first time driver. It will definitely reduce the possibility of accidents. The car is very easy to drive itself. I highly recommend test driving and seeing if it fits your needs. I also have a 2019 Subaru Impreza, which is a base model and that car is so incredibly easy to drive, and handles surprisingly well for a compact budget car. Ouch . My 2014 CrossTrek was $23K. Now that was a great value. At $32K only 5 years later, I would be looking elsewhere, unless everything had become crazy expensive, too! For that money, I expect a car to go 0-60 in less than a lifetime, or at least be a diesel if not athletic. My 2004 Forester XT MT was 0-60 in 5.7s, and could do all the snow and off-road stuff, as well. The perfect balance. Subie has dropped the turbo/MT option from the Outback and the Forester, so I'm not exactly feeling the "love".....

I dont know if you got a lot of snow where you live but let me tell you its the best snow car I ever tried.. the only thing I heard from other drivers is that its a little bit underpower. I dont care cuz I'm a smooth driver anyway but ... maybe if you like feeling the roar you may be disappointed... Eyesight is nice. You cant let the car drive itself but it may save your life if you ever fall asleep... have the best holiday season and Christmas and all .. and drive safe 👍

I've 2017 Crosstrek, so far it's a good daily driver. I am waiting for 2020 Crosstrek come out with my wishes feature on in it an SI-Drive and Auto Start-Stop, and Auto Folding Side Mirrors and also Auto Door Locks.

NEMotoGuy I doubt Crosstrek will get big refreshed til 2021 because 2018 was the first year (all design from the ground up). Subaru usually take about 3 cycle years til 4 cycle they will do refresh (facelifts). Yet, Crosstrek Hybrid just revealed last year at the LA Auto Show and they added SI-Drive other couple feature. I assume 2020 Crosstrek will have those feature in it.

Like People say “ The Good Stuff always leave it back where they made in.” And Japan have those features Auto Start/Stop ( they always concern about their environment and fuel cost for their consumers.) Hey, interesting...Do you have the base/premium or the Limited model? I have the limited that comes with the 225/55 18 inch wheels/tires and I actually love them. Are you driving in a particular road condition? Snow/rain/highspeed/etc...? I am not too knowledgeable on all weather tires as there are so many out there and in my experience all do the same, excluding high performance all weather. Went from a ford fusion to this. Best decision I ever made. I live in NEPA and this past winter was horrid, my car had no problems even when driving through a foot of unplowed snow. I will never buy a car that’s not a subaru now. Though I’m hoping mine goes for many years and won’t have to buy another for a long time. Just hit 9,000 miles and it drives like a dream. My favorite part is the fact if you get in a front end collision the engine drops down instead of going through the dash. It’s so safe and runs amazing.

Yes, this is the Limited trim, which is Subaru's top trim on most models. It has the eyesight, alloy wheels, sunroof, leather, upgraded media system, etc... The Outback and Ascent have a Touring trim that is one level above, but this does not apply for the Crosstrek.

Looked at the crosstrek 6mt. Got a 2018 forester 6mt. The forester has more hp and torque, only weighs couple hundred more, has more room and only rated at 1 mpg less. Best part forester cost less.

Interesting. Which model/trim Forester was it? Not sure they offer the Limited trim in a 6-MT, that would be a very appealing package for me at least. The HP is definitely the weak point of the Crosstrek. I really am hoping Subaru adds at least another engine option, something like the FA in the WRX, possibly de-tuned though. I preferred the drivetrain in the '18 Forester with the 6 speed manual and 2.5L as well when I did back to back testdrives, but wasn't cheaper at least in Premium trim with that awesome panoramic sunroof. If the Cosstrek was available with the same drivetrain, I would have gone with it however, as it felt more stable in the corners, but no denying the Forester's nice ride and roominess. Wish I could have been able combine the two!

@@modmatt1 They need the 2.5 in the crosstrek or a turbo option. I think the crosstrek defiantly looks better. My forester is a base model, which why I able to get it cheaper than a base Crosstrek. The dealer had the Forester for 4 months, so they were ready to deal on it. I was actually prepared to buy a crosstrek, but decided I like the forester better. I did have to spend some money on it, like a set Konig wheels. The base steel wheels are just too ugly.

My mom bought one a few weeks ago, she’s so happy with hers. I’m looking forward to the 2020 outback personally. I considered the Legacy Touring XT but the body style seems a bit too bland for my taste. The Touring XT outback has the same specs, more space, more versatility, and looks a bit cooler I think. That being said... I have yet to see a 2020 legacy in Black silica, so we’ll see how that ends up looking lol.

@@barbarosa788 No problem, here to help as I can. Couple quick ways to check. What size wheels does your Crosstrek come with? The limited came in 18 inch black alloy wheels, and the other trims were 17 inch. Also, your infotainment unit, is it the 6.5 in screen or the 8 inch screen, along with the number of speakers in your car. This might be the best indicator. Also if your seats are anything but leather, then it would be a premium/sport/base trim.

It would still be far from a racecar with a 2.5 engine. Believe me, I just tried a Forester and an Outback with the 2.5. No race cars there either ! Maybe if the "sport" version had the 2.5 and the "daily" driver the 2.0, ; it maybe a good thing for speed demons like me that appreciate 0-60 in less than 10 seconds to merge and pass ; ) As I said, I like the car, just wish I could have another engine option to match the sporty look.

Yes, the car has paddle shifters mounted right on the steering wheel. The CVT has a manual mode, I have tried it once, it works okay. I generally never use the paddles.

I have a request for you. Could you film a few acceleration runs to 40 or 45 while keeping the RPMs at or below around 3500 RPM? I’d like to watch the speedometer to see how quickly it accelerates to 40 or so without pushing the engine too hard.

These cars are amazing they cannot get stuck anywhere! Unless you count being stuck at the dealer with broken CVTs or leaking head gaskets. But hey you get the bragging rights for being able to drive off road even though your tires might only leave the pavement twice a year!

I have owned three Subaru vehicles with CVT transmissions over the past five years, not a single one of them has given me transmission issues or leaking gaskets. I also don't think people buys these cars for bragging rights, my opinion of course. These cars are highly desired up here in New England due to overall low cost of ownership, reliability, and AWD. The fact that these vehicles can go off-road provides an additional peace of mine in those scenarios that can potentially come up.

Although I have heard of many subaru owners bragging about not having any problems in 50k miles like that's a big accomplishment....

For example look at all the compilation videos of subarus pulling other cars out of the snow. Any car with any awd and a recovery strap could have done the same thing the only difference is the subaru owners are the only ones to film it with a cell phone and put it online to brag about it. I get it, the AWD is great. But ignoring the CVT, oil burning, and head gasket issues is like finding a really hot girlfriend knowing full well she will give you herpes in 6 months.
