They start to crack and can be replaced easily, BUT the dealerships and factories quit selling those parts after about 10 years. Since this problem is very common, good luck finding one that's better than what you have in a salvage yard! You can find them on eBay for $250-300, but those, too, are brittle. I ordered one, and it arrived cracked. I'm hoping to able to patch it up and reinforce the whole thing with a few layers of fiberglass and carbon fiber cloth with the money that was returned to me. The current Honda Accord 2019 body, has a problem with wipers not working due to the linkage becomes disconnected... the problem? Well the way Honda designed the cowl they placed the wiper assembly right below the cowl vent, this makes it so when snow falls on top it falls through into the wiper linkages and freezes... so when you turn them on they either don’t work (frozen) or don’t work because it disconnected... obviously only when it’s freezing out...

Dear Scotty, I love your vids, and you are the best. Am your great fan. But as to putting the wipers up before they freeze, I have to make a correction, based on my 23 years automotive experience in cold climate. You better not get the habit of putting your wipers up, for two reasons: 1) when wipers are up, their springs (which are there to press them against the windshield) become overstretched, and become much weaker over time. So soon you will notice that your wipers can no more clean your windshield properly, due to decreased spring tension / pressure. Those small springs however, on all vehicles I know, cannot be obtained under a separate part number, so you will have to purchase complete wiper arms instead, and they are not always cheap; 2) if you put your wipers up often enough, like every winter day, so when returning them into their working position afterwards, statistically you will sooner or later accidentally release / drop them, and one of those times they will, when dropped, hit the windshield hard / unluckily enough to eventually crack the windshield. Ive seen that happen multiple times in our neighborhood. Needless to say how expensive windshield replacement can be. So better just wait a little longer for the windshield with frozen wipers on it to properly defrost.

Hi Scotty, About your winter windshield wiper tip. I have heard that by having them off your windshield, you weaken the springs that keep the wiper tight to your glass. as well if someone hits the wipers in the upright position they could come down on your windshield hard enough to break or crack it. Full disclosure, i have my car in our garage so i don't have this problem

I am a huge Deere fan that does custom farming my family is currently running 8 of them from 210 horsepower to 570 mostly new leases that are under warranty but I completely see both sides of this. As a custom farmer we are the backup for when the farmer breaks down so we cannot be down at all which makes it very hard having to rely on the dealerships as bad as some of them are because 90% of the issues the new tractors have is all in the computers so even if farmers could repair it themselves most of them wouldn’t know how to or be able to. Most of our equipment being under warranty we cannot fix most things on it as the dealership is obligated too which works good but for the older ones it takes forever for them because they don’t have to fix them. That being said if Right To Repair passed it would help out lots of other farmers but that would put a lot of liability and risk on Deere because the way it is setup now if the software is messed up that’s fully in Deere so letting farmers repair themselves would be huge risk as many would not correctly fix it making Deere be responsible if something goes wrong due to the incorrect fix. I definitely think this needs to be fixed but don’t think Deere purposely did it to hurt the farmer I think it’s due to how complex the software and systems are it would blow up on them
