Mazda is about to be a better brand... but just as leftists are forcing everything to be electric. And then force automatic driving cars, and then make car ownership illegal. If you want to go somewhere you get out your digital money card/Visa and request a car. If you are approved by the gov the car will show up at your house. I’m on my second Mazda after driving nothing but US makes and I’m not disappointed. My first was a 2016 Mazda 6 Touring with a non-turbo 2.5 L and the six speed automatic. Great car, no complaints. I would still be driving it today if it hadn’t been sideswiped by a semi. Car was totaled, but I didn’t even get a bruise. I replaced it with a 2023 CX-5. This SUV has the same 2.5L engine, non-turbo, AWD, and same 6 speed automatic transmission. The mazda 3's been just phenomenal. Not necessarily the best in _every_ area, but it does "very well" in a much larger number of areas than any of the others. 8 years old and 85,000 miles on it. @kathrynck Жыл бұрын
@@doax3333 I think CVT was more interesting with the old Honda HX, back when an automatic transmission meant "4" forward gears. With more modern automatics having 5 or 6 forward gears, the advantages a CVT can offer (keeping the engine at it's ideal operating rpm) gets much slimmer. Especially with engines which have variable valve timing, giving them a broader "sweet spot" of rpm's for efficiency or power. CVT's would have made a world of difference vs a 3-speed auto on a single overhead cam engine from the 80's or 90's. Compared to say, a 2015 mazda 3 six-speed with variable valve timing... a CVT isn't going to do much (even when it is working). Then again, I only drive stick. The newer one is my favorite car I've ever owned and my first automatic in more than two decades. I actually LOVE the transmission! I have no plans to go back to Hondas for the forseeable future.

2023 Hatch Owner: Great drive solo or with family. Just completed a long road trip in it with my wife and young daughter. For me it was fun to drive, for them there was adequate space, the trunk took a full sized suitcase plus several small bags (it can take up to 2 suitcases without folding seats), and fuel economy was great. The Bose Soundsystem was incredible too. The Japanese design philosophy is evident throughout.

Best endorsement I can think of. My wife is now on her third CX-5 lease. Every time she had to travel in a company Camry or Chevy Impala, she came home complaining. Then she had to put her second one in the body shop for a couple of days and the insurance company gave her a Cadillac. She had to make a 120 mile round trip. Came home, "PLEASE call the body shop and see when I can get my car back. The ride in that Cadillac is HORRIBLE."

I bought a 2018 Mazda 6 brand new from a dealer. Love it! Great car, reasonable price, fun to drive and has the best cooled front seats of probably any car out there. Work way better than the cooled seats on my 2021 Honda Odyssey. Only two complaints: the valve cover gasket and the vvt solenoid failed at about 59,000 miles. Repairs fully covered under 60,000 mile warranty. Also, sometimes the entertainment console won’t come on (just like in this video!), and I have to stop and restart the car. No big deal there, though. Would definitely recommend Mazda 6 .

He drove it past 200,000 miles and then he gave it to one of his in-laws, and it drove another 100,000 miles and then it died. I guess the in-law just didn't take care of it. I loved my 98 Protege, bought it used with 118K, drove it for several years, took it to over 220K and sold it for the same $1500 I paid for it. Ended up with a 2004 Mazda 3 hatchback a few years later when Mazda was a Ford division, definitely not Mazda's best effort with that one, lots of rust, some sketchy design issues I discovered along the way (especially those relays sandwiched inside the fusebox). My trusty Camry just passed 160K and is starting to have a few issues, so I might look at a Mazda 6 if the Camry gets costly to keep on the road. The prices on used Mazdas seem pretty reasonable. Thanks, Scotty, you are a great source of practical information!

Apparently, this Mazda 6 is a 2018 model (though your editor somehow cut-out that info). Being a 2018 model and, as you said, a standard (i.e. manual) transmission, explains a lot about the price. Keep up the good work.

Manual 2017 Mazda 3 here. I used to put 20-22k miles/yr before the pandemic. But in 2021, took it from Houston, down to Miami, up to Maine, to Niagara Falls, back down to Houston. It's at 96k. Incredible mileage still. Was in 2 accidents (none my fault), and after searching the market, decided to keep it. Only car I even consider buying was a BMW M3, but I would miss the MPG, cheap (if any) repairs, and the non-premium gas. Couldn't justify a new Mazda 3 without stick and being a sedan. Mazda is ridiculously underrated. Still looks as new inside and out since day 1

Then I bought a 2016 CX-5 and in seven years, my only expenses have been for oil changes, new battery, new tires, new brake pads, and new wiper blades. The only Mazda I've ever owned was a 2012 3 skyactive, the first year with the 6spd combo. I bought it used from a Mazda dealer with 90,000 kms for $9000 CAD. Unfortunately during the test drive I didn't shift higher than 3rd gear and as I found out this car slipped out of 4th. It was a known issue from the factory, no idea how the previous owner drove so long without dealing with it, but even though it was out of warranty Mazda Canada good willed it and installed a new transmission!
