Finally got my 06 5.9 back together. I got it with a knock cheap . After waiting in block to get bored then waiting on head new crank the works . Finally got to bolt it together and throw a straight pipe under it. Once break in is complete intake , fast fuel and 5 ps is next on the list .

I have a 06 5.9 megacab. Also a 2001 5.9 2nd gen. The 2nd gen was my dream truck untilmi started driving the 06 megacab. Now I want to sell the 01 to buy another identical 06 . My 06 I found with 110k miles and a compound turbo. And an Allison transmission. This thing is a true beast.

I have the same truck, 07 5.9 mega cab. It was dirty and not taken care of by previous 2 owners. I'm the 5th owner. It steers like crap. Level lifted with what appears to be a 6" Superlift in the front and 2.5" blocks in the rear. I'm on the 3rd steering box and still fight it on the freeway to stay between the lines. When towing a camper it really wants to wander. It's stressful towing with it such that I'm either switching to Ford, taking the lift out in hopes it corrects it, or option C (whatever that is.) How does yours steer when towing? Sadly, a lot of young people lift their 4x4 and never off road or work them. They're pavement princesses. Mine leaks from the drivers A pillar when it rains. Must have done it for a long time as the clearance lights are covered with silicone. Have to clean the inside of the battery connectors every 3 months or it will throw a code or three. It's a dog. Doesn't get up and go like my 96 12v did. Towing an 8k camper, it barely gets up the blue ridge or WV mountains. I get passed by bigger rigs being towed by Chevy and Ford. WTF?!!! Only 134k miles.

9 mins in...brooo.. you are 100% on point here. Everything diesel has a nice 6.7 cummins but you are correct the 07 5.9l cummins was the best hands down. The 6.7 needs what $5000 to make it better right.... well let's toss that same $5ooo at a 5.9. While they are busy just trying to get it tuned right for the street, the 5.9 would be a complete monster and they'd stand absolute no chance.... I hope someone does this. Also, YOU HONESTLY DONT FEEL THE TRAILER..100%. Hahah k resume video.

Definitely talk them down on the price if you can man. But thats super wrong. I have 248k on the clock and I just had to replace my belt and water pump for the first time. I bought this truck around 178k. Hauling stuff, daily driving, drag strip time (when I went thru the race truck phase) and my truck is still stout. Take care of it and it'll take care of you. Miles won't even matter. Stay off the hard throttle tho

You will find that the 07 with the 5.9 has any and all the bugs worked out of it . When they went with the 6.7 , they had allot of bugs that needed to be worked out for many years and also require DEF for emissions . The Cummins diesel engine is owned by Caterpillar and made by Caterpillar subsidiary company called Cummings . Caterpillar has kept the two companies with their different names for worldwide , but Cummings are owned by Caterpillar . Caterpillar has always been the leader for heavy equipment and built Cummings diesel engine's for the trucking industry as Cummings diesel engine's are known worldwide for their top performance , durability and dependability with the same quality as set by Caterpillar . After Caterpillar stopped building diesel engine's for the few trucks they did , they kept building Cummings diesel engine's for trucks . That's why Cummings diesel engine's last so long , if you do your proper maintenance as with anything but last longer with quality and dependability , just like Caterpillar ! The big difference between your 07 Mega Cab and mine is that I have the cloth seats as they don't get so hot and burn your back when you get into them in the summer and are not as freezing cold in northern cold winter . Bottom line is , it is the best diesel truck !!

About what’s your average mpg?

My injectors are getting old and abused🤣 so I haven't done a hand calculated mpg test lately. But back in the day, the most i had ever gotten was 594 and I was on E for the longest lol. With the 34 gallon tank, that's roughly 17.5mpg on 24x14s with 2 inch spacers. With some mild hills in the mix as well.

Funny I run a +200hp tune in my truck daily with water/meth on last 20k miles bone stock allison..... Let's see you do that in a dodge ..my brother is on his 3rd 68rfe losing 5th & 6th gear each time.. Tell me how IRS is junk? Kryptonite tie rods are 300$ i boost launch my truck all the time....yes not as HD as solid axle for work but doesn't wear outside of tires nearly as bad and rides 10x better
