Here's why "Receive and Believe You" is Important to Kiryu.

-With every new installment of the Yakuza series, one thing is apparent... that is the different rendition of "Receive You."
In this respectable length "Video Essay" I will be analyzing "Receive and Believe You" and elaborating on why it's the best version for Kiryu in Infinite Wealth.
Even if people don't like this version "which is understandable", allow me to shed light on WHY the is like this, and HOW effective it is.

It's definitively thr best game in mainline (blah blah spin off IDC ITS MAINLINE) only reason I'd still recomend y0 over it is length but the quality of the gameplay is the best in the series other than lost judgement sometimes it just feels like y7 has divided the fans with one side totally ignoring turn based and one side totally ignoring real time yk

Doesn't suck by any means but I think it's a little overrated. Most of the side quests weren't anything to write home about and I found the combat a little janky at times. Story was fine but Chapter 2 felt a little too padded out.

For me, this theme represents the change in Kiryu's character. Ichiban gave him something he could work on (a promise to keep living) and Kiryu is finally accepting that he is not what he used to be. His mind was already weakened by the punishment imposed by himself and it now manifested itself as cancer. But he finally realized, he is not alone. He is not as strong as before, but he CAN still fight, work for the best. It is a song about him adapting to the changes, and having something to fight for, a song about him catching up to the legend of the Dragon of Dojima

In the part that it calms down with the classic but distorted chorus, there is an instrument used that sounds like a clock ticking. So it's not so much a moment of ideals clashing but a moment of, the dragon is dying he doesn't have much time left realization in the song. And the distortion like a saddened singer. At least, to me that's what it sounds more like.

Interesting take on the whole story about the song, I think it fits all and good but in my honest opinion you could make up a lot of stories if you spent enough time on it. For my money, I would never bet on sega actually thinking this deep about this song, I guess if they did think this deep about any song it would be a rendition of "recieve you", however my thoughts are simply that sega or whoever is responsible for the song simply tried to make the best song they could that fits within the context of infinite wealth.. The song in itself is good, I like the parts at 6:40, it's got the classic recieve you sound but what really holds it back in my opinion is that it was made as a long battle theme in a turn based yakuza game which makes it probably one of the most repeated songs of the series. They had to take into account that it will be repeated so they made changes that makes it sound less repetetive therefor losing a lot of uniqueness and character. My favourite recieve you has to be original not only because its a classic but it has so much character, although I really like the original, let's not count that one since its the OG RY. If I can't choose the OG my second choice would definitely be doubt you or slash you, both are very expressive and coherent. Looping back to your theory about the song's story I think it all makes sense and I guess it's possible plus it's a nice story but the story doesn't change the fact that it could be without the dubstep parts at 4:20 for example. Interesting rebuttal. While I can understand why it sounds like "Sega tried to make the best song that could fit within the context of infinite wealth," let's not throw the "thinking about the song" theory. Saying "Receive and Believe You wasn't thought about when it came to the production" isn't really believable when songs like "Impregnable Triangle" had themes and melodies that fitted the bosses you fought and Kiryu to an extent. "The Four" fits perfectly with the characters that were present. And I believe "Kooky" describes Yamai's crazy personality. While it's possible "RABY" wasn't made with forethought, the chances they do that with the other themes is unlikely, as RGG or Sega usually put forethought into their to fit the game's vibe or tell a story. As for the dubstep at 4:20. I agree that it can be obnoxious, but if we're going off the idea, that the song is telling a story. That works to show off the agitation that Kiryu is going through at this point. This is a bit of a stretch but it can been seen how obnoxious some of the antagonists are (the final boss for Ichiban is an example of an obnoxious character.) And how these situations keep happening. Again it's a stretch, the way I see it, I can be interpret in many ways.

Yakuza 8 might be my 3rd weakest yakuza game it might have screwed up the story it might have thr worst recieve you but everything about that final chapter was so peak just i wish they didnt mess up this recieve you its clear to me this is a ichiban style song for kiryus send off????
