I don't think 1 year was enough for Mercedez to make all those changes based on Doug's review. My bet is they were already working on these issues for years by the time Doug reviewed it. I am not a car designer but I suppose new car models go through multiple iterative design stages starting with paper prototypes, scale models, non-functional full-size models and finally the working prototypes. I know in the age of Computer Aided Design, this process is much faster but still, takes time.

I would still get the old model. Real off-roaders have solid axles. I would get the w463, lift it and put some nice maxxis trepador tyres on it, lock the diffs and climb the biggest hill I can find. (edit) I would also get a CDI, diesel is way better for off-roading.

When their is screws you can easily change a light and that’s the same with all the other “after thought” objects. I think it’s nice. I also like the hinges on the doors. I think it’s look better with hinges. The door handles on the outside is my favorite kind of door handles because I like to push a button to open a door, it is so satisfying.

All the little teenies that think Doug had anything to do with any of those changes are all like "wowww Doug is God" not realizing Doug made his video about a year ago and at that time this car was already designed, in production, built, down at car shows, and small samples sent out for PR. But these kids think Mercedes actually went through and built all brand new turn signals, reflectors, closed the panel gaps, redesigned the entire interior for hand brakes and cup holders, back up camera, windshield wipers, and sh the other changes. And did everything over again after watching Doug's video all with in the past 12 months. LMAO. The 2019 G was probably already designed and factories but to assemble them as far back as 2017 if not 16. It takes a few years to get so this stuff together. Not 12 months after a doug video. But that's Doug Dick Riders for you.
