One thing Doug didn't mention is that there is very minimal plastic anywhere in the interior, mostly just the seatbelt clasps. Anything that looks like wood, leather, or polished metal is. Even the buttons are surfaced in glass. Most luxury cars are assembled, a Bentley however - specifically the Mulsanne, is mostly handcrafted, that can't be understated. It takes a certain kind of buyer to fully appreciate the minutiae that separates a Bentley from anything else.

I've always liked Rolls Royce and Bentley, But ALL of the cool awesome features he's talking about you can find in a 15 year old Mercedes S class. Bentley like so many other luxury auto makers pretty much carry the same options and features they always have for many years now. All they change with each new generation is style and comfort. Rear reclining seats, window shades, and soft close doors were all around back in the 90's. In today's time you can now find all of these luxurious features in a Hyundai. So now the high end luxury car industry is no longer in a group or league of it's own. Although the quality of parts are different most auto makers have caught up with each other. Not much separation anymore.

faznout i feel the Audi VW group will introduce new tech in the Audi A8. Bentley has been their brand that pushes tech and build quality. And to be honest, I like that. It differentiates the brands. BMW do it too with Rolls Royce. You will find however though, that Bentley are the best with leather and wood, and are now the car leaders in rear screens and car fridges

The Genesis line is absolutely impressive given its origins but that just illustrates how committed the Koreans are to penetrating the global auto market at any level. While Toyota and Honda have untouchable economy and reliability, Hyundai/Kia are closing in on that with a shocking quickness as evidenced by their warranties which no manufacturer has the palate to copycat. Not to antagonize your comment but what separates opulent brands such as Maserati, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, etc.. is that they focus not so much on trends but perennial hallmarks of creature comfort expressed to an elevated aesthetic. Genesis will never be one of those brands as it seeks to offer elevated value to a wider demographic. Bentley and it's ilk seek to distinguish the 'haves' from the 'have-nots' while Genesis (and, by proxy, Hyundai) attempt to bring that luxuriant experience to the everyman who attempts a strive toward it. I'm not criticizing either side as there is value in pushing the envelope either way. Just my two cents.

George B well it's a ultra luxury trim level for the s class now and rightfully so.... as the s class is already good so the maybach trim level really spicins it up. It's no pretender, it delivers and redefines what a land yacht is. Mercedes has remained in business since it's founder created the first gasoline combustion engine automobile. RR went bankrupt if it wasn't for BMW saving it's ass. And bently had some near bankrupt tough times
