Doug, Frequently the chauffer's compartment was fitted with a dark leather. The passenger's compartment of a bespoke limousine were sometimes fitted with brocaded fabrics that would show even the slightest soil. Rod C Yeah, it's typical British engineering. I mean, couldn't it have just hinged from the side and been moved like an inch and been able to open all the way and unhindered?
@The_sinner_Jim_Whitney4 жыл бұрын
A real bisexual petrol-head I didn't wish death on anyone, or even a bad day, haha! Typical British engineering refers to engineering that supports stereotypes about British engineering, and that most certainly is an example. 'Does it work? Yeah? Okay, done! On to the next thing, no need to think about improving that bit.' Pretty typical of British engineering, wouldn't you say?
@The_sinner_Jim_Whitney4 жыл бұрын
A real bisexual petrol-head Hey, that kind of thing doesn't bother me in any way whatsoever. I actually personally like British cars for their funky, quirky, interesting engineering choices (not so much for their reliability...). I wasn't talking shit, and I don't see anything wrong with it, it simply is an example of fairly typical British engineering. It really wasn't meant as a slight. If it'd been a Benz, and the refrigerator door had 68 moving parts and a provision to run backwards and serve as an auxiliary heat pump, I would've said it was typical German engineering. If it'd been a Cadillac and the door was made of Formica, held shut by a hasp and lynch pin, had a 180- quart capacity and could freeze 8 cases of beer in 10 minutes but made the car 4 feet longer and understeer like a pig, it would've been typical American engineering. If it'd been a Maserati, and the door was indescribably beautiful and the entire unit was made of space-age magnesium foam and weighed a quarter ounce, but it could only cool items to the regionally-appropriate temperature at which Valdobbiadene prosecco is drunk and usually caused the alternator to overheat and catch on fire, that would be typical Italian engineering. If it were a Lexus, and the refrigerator worked perfectly for most purposes but was completely unremarkable in every way, and the car it was in was even more unremarkable, boring, and uninspiring but the whole package kept trundling along maintenance-free for 30 years, you guessed it- typical Japanese engineering. We all have our own typical cultural strengths and weaknesses, it's not a problem, it's what makes the world such a wonderful place!

Mulliner Vehicles usually had darker front seats and lighter rear. The idea was the chauffeur and or mechanic would frequently be in the front so it was likely the seats would get dirty faster. @GintaPPE10004 жыл бұрын
Thing is, nobody looking at it on the street will realize this. To most people, it’s just an older car. To those who know, it’s a Bentley, but those who know, it’s also not cool because it’s old and depreciated as fuck. Most people also aren’t good at spotting the details between a factory and aftermarket limo, not in the least because it’s mostly on the interior. Doug only knows because he’s seen and researched the VIN. When even enthusiasts need to delve a bit to realize what this car is, that’s not exactly saying much for how head-turning it is (which is what cool factor gauges).

If you're going to look at stretched-out, limo-like things, I have three suggestions. 1. The last-gen Ford LTD Crown Victoria in the stretched, taxi configuration. The extra room and Interceptor drivetrain are an unbeatable combination to me. If I had had the money back in 2010 or so, I would have definitely bought one. 2. One of those 6-door luxury sedans typically used by funeral homes to transport families to grave sites. With their 3 rows of seating they seem like they would hold 6 or more people in more luxury than any other sedan. All the ones I've seen have been Cadillacs and I doubt they're as reliable as the Crown Vics but those of us who really love stretched sedans, they are the object of a great deal of curiosity. 3. A Checker. Surely there's a pristine stretched limo Checker out there just begging to be featured. Those things are such icons; they deserve to be immortalized in a DeMuro video.
