It's refreshing to see someone actually understand the E60 M5 in this way. I daily drove my 1989 750iL and people dogged on me so much about how excessive the maintenance would be. It's been my most reliable BMW I have owned in nearly 15 years. The V12 is just impeccable and so long as you take care of it, it will do just fine. You can't throw these super luxury and performance cars on the road expecting them to drive like new, but for the cost/investment of maintenance you won't get anything else like it. Queue the E60 M5 being a Lambo on a budget with 4 doors that will take nearly any modern car to the cleaners today. Of course it has higher maintenance costs, its a V10 that revs to nearly 10k RPM lol I just bought a 2006 M5 with 92k miles on the clock. Will be excited to get it in and experience the joy of ownership this car has to offer. The last of the great high cylinder count cars that are naturally aspirated.

Dean, as a fellow E60 M5 owner, and have been for many years, you’ve become the ‘go to’ bloke on KZbin for realistic advice about owning BM’s. Glad you like the M5, they’re a bit of a Marmite car, but the performance cannot be argued with. 100k miles in, still can’t find anything to replace it with.
@UMNRZ2 жыл бұрын
Yes the new M5's are faster to 60 but nothing beats the raw nature of a V10. Absolutely love mine. Like the geezer said most of the people who bash this car are just sheep who jump on the bandwagon and have never owned one themselves. Get your Rod bearings, throttle actuators, fuel injectors and Vanos high pressure lines done as preventative maintenance and keep up with regular oil changes and you will absolutely love it
@boydiedj37184 жыл бұрын
So interesting. What would worry me about it is the fact I do 3 miles a day. Oil not getting up to temperature regular and I reckoned it would just be asking for trouble. So nice to see it getting a positive review for once. These will be worth a fortune in the future I think. Investors should buy them up and garage them.

Only thing you need brother is a nice deep clean on the steering wheel it’s years worth of oil on it. Get it nice and clean and matte so at least it’s only your hands oils on it going forward. Since I started cleaning mine I became a snob, you will too when you feel a clean leather wheel it’s amazing. Get the sonax stuff, you’ll be shocked how much gunk you’ll pull off of it. I’m not new to bmw but I’m relatively new to working on bmw’s, not for a living just my own cars. Just to save me money and the enjoyment of doing it all myself. Once I get more experience and confidence, I’ll buy a e60 just to experience it. As a bmw enthusiast and loyalist I feel like I have to. Im looking into actually getting certified and proper schooling for bmw’s, but I have to make it work on the side I’m already maintaining a career and life. If anyone has some advice that have done it let me know. I would like to specialize in only bmw from the jump , at least German cars. Not looking to work for anyone but down the line possibly open my own shop.

I know it's just a shame that 1. there isn't many people who cherish this car 2. When I do that this will be the only reason people want them which is a complete shame. But this is why as I said I wont be showing or telling anyone on how to do it as I believe things like that are better kept secret, as that is when people buy these cars for the wrong reason's and I cant let that happen and WON'T. As you probably know I'm very different to other KZbinr's and don't reveal much of anything I do for A lot of reason's, As most who watch are either idiot's or all looking for more power and more power is dangerous for most idiots who watch.

for smooth shifts, you roll into gear with the gas slowly like a regular old manual. If you hold the gas harder and shift, that's when you get jerky hard shifts. holding the gas past 50% throttle and shifting is meant for harder driving (along the lines of tracking or dragging racing) people who complain about the smg drive it like a dct which it is not

6:36 v10 legendary. this will blow your eyes out this information. when bmw m built this engine it came out with 900bhp. then they had to get alot of engineers to detune the engine with a load of sensors and computers to bring the m5 down to 507bhp.. You are speaking my language Dean! I completely agree with everything you are saying. Coming from a long time S85 V10 owner you definitely know what you're talking about. My 07 M6 smg clutch lasted me up to 105k miles! And it actually still had life in it. Only reason I changed it was for preventive maintenance. #MPower #S85 F10 M5 or newer M6 doesn't have shit on the NA V10 I'm also not a fan of turbo cars. The NA V10 S85 has a soul that the newer Ms will never have with their turbos.

Had BMW cars since the early 8Os, made sure whatever I had had been looked after with good history , and then looked after well by myself including most of the work, out of ten cars only one went bad, big ends, in my opinion most if not all BMWs are very very reliable, try running a Merc, you will soon know what unreliable means 🙄
@BMWDoctor4 жыл бұрын
I think your very wrong there let me assure you. Mercedes is very very reliable more reliable then BMW even by today’s standards hence why everyone is going over to them. All the people I knew used to and I mean this “USED” to drive BMW and all went over to Mercedes more luxury look , better styling , better performance and better reliability. Take the C63 AMG the most reliable car and bulletproof yet a monster, I don’t know what Mercedes your talking about but even the 2.1 diesel is very very reliable MERCEDES are known for there reliability of Diesel engines. And let’s not even get onto there hand built certified engines which come with certificates showing who hand built that engine. Gearbox on AMG zero problems ever listed or heard engine on AMG zero problems and not ever heard of. So when your talking about Mercedes please come correct as I specialise in both brands something many don’t know on here I have two channels one for Mercedes and one for BMW, so I beg to differ on this !
