I bought this exact car almost 2 yrs ago for a SIGNIFICANT discount. After about a month after I got it I got hurt at work and workers comp had my claim on hold for 90 days. No income led to couldnt pay rent. Got a 3 day notice to pay rent or quit. The little money I had left to put my furniture in storage and I proceeded to live in my Equos for 4 more months. The reclining rear seat has got to be (and I'm not joking) in the Top 5 places I've ever slept in my life. Normaly I have trouble sleeping but in the back seat I had such a deep sleep

Oddly, my father started buying Hyundais new every two years back in the late nineties. He'd only put a few thousand miles on it and trade for another. His last one was a 2006 Azera Limited Ultra. He couldn't wait to show off all the neat little gizmos to me. In August 2008 he called me up and asked if I wanted to have it, no strings. He had bought a Toyota truck. I flew from Kansas and picked it up in NC. It was the last time I saw my dad alive. He died the next month. I still have the Azera. It's my daily driver. It only has 78K miles. Totally reliable car that changed my mind about Hyundai quality. I'll probably drive it until it fails. I purchased a 2014 Tucson for my wife. She loves it for driving around Wichita. iBlewupthemoon I mean Korean cars generally are very good cars with really solid reliability ;) Just they aren't exciting (except some very rare exceptions) and they mostly are for people that don't really care about what they drive. Yes it might be more reliable than an S class or a 7 series or A8 for that matter. However the car itself the fun part the design and the esteem that comes with it is a whole different level with similar Premium german cars ;)
@iBlewupthemoon986 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think people still think of the old Kia Spectra when thinking of the Korean brands, which is why demand isn't that high for their premium cars. But they've improved a lot since the early 2000's
@Shintsu26 жыл бұрын
Well, you could take a look at the interior on the Equus...I wouldn't even call it equal to Lexus or anything. It's not terrible, but it's just off compared to that. Not on features, on design aesthetics. Same with the exterior, all the top tier Korean luxury cars always look really generic. The designs on the German top luxury models are far more distinctive. I'm not going to say they're more reliable, they really aren't. But these cars are made for rich people who almost always lease and then after 30-40k miles they turn it in for the latest version. The second owner takes it usually to about 80-90k. Any subsequent owners are in for the high maintenance period. I don't agree with this practice, but there is a price to pay for absurd gadgets. A working top tier German luxury car is hard to rival if you're going to be honest with yourself. The Equus might last longer with lower repair costs, but it's also far less impressive looking and more bland. For $70k, not hard to see why most would have passed this up. Personally I'd much rather an LS460 over the Equus, it still lacks some personality of the Germans but it has more substance than the Equus. But you'll be paying almost twice as much thanks to that Lexus reputation and reliability. Probably the best compromise between luxury, gadgets, and long term reliability.

And the clincher? Most of them come with a ten year 100,000 miles warranty. I thank those who have insight on the matter for charing. I've had European luxury brands who start giving problems at 30-50000 miles, if I had to do it over I would have purchased Kia or Hyundai.

That's only if you're the original buyer, otherwise its converted to 5 years (from the start of the ORIGINAL delivery too... not when you buy it used). It's still a damn good car and very reliable. I have a 2015 Equus Ultimate and its been very reliable. The only issue is some Hyundai dealers will outright refuse to work on them for some unknown reason. They claim there are "Equus authorized" dealers and you must take it to them.

5 years 50k miles if you buy it used unfortunately. considering the depretiation I can understand why they do that but yeah kind of a downer. however the original owner could have drove this all over the country and if it breaks down hyundai is REQUIRED to give them a loaner and it has to be minimum another genisis car or another equaas.

You still get the 10 year warranty if it's certified used from a Hyundai/Kia dealer. My Forte has the full original warranty, but only because it came from a Kia dealer.

Hyundai makes good cars and every brand has a luxury model. People are so brainwashed to think Benz and BMW are top of the line and would not even look at this car. Nice is nice I don't care. I'd buy this any day over a Benz or BMW, Rolls...etc.
