392 is just a reference to the legendary 392 cubic inch motor of the 1950s

Oh yeah the original would never pass emissions, but these gen 3s are 392 cubes in measurement and make way more power per inch than the old ones do

Yeah, I know....and for sure this is not really a "392" Hemi of yor. Buuuuttt it is very fast, mid to deep 12's, and can listen (if I want to) to the 18 speaker Harmon Kardon system while air conditions the cab for cool comfort. :-)

@@natanpierce495 That year came with two stereo set ups. The Harmon Kardon was in the higher end cars , hell cats and such, this one is more than likely a Boston acoustic system which is run of the mill 1970 Honda civic quality. I have one of these cars. The first thing i did was remove the stereo system because it sounded like someone yelling into a tin can. I replaced the head unit with a Kenwood exclaron DNX 697 s , installed a Hertz H8 DSP, two amps , one mono, one 4 channel, Hertz milli pro component and hertz centron speakers. With the ability to delay or speed up sound and set sound from each speaker ( digital time alignment) allows a fuller sound like what you hear at a theater when THX comes on the screen. Cars do not have good sound environments due to obstruction from the seats, sound reflecting off surfaces and in most cars lack of dampening carpet.

@@lindsay4530 lol and real car guys also know the car is not a 392 but is n fact a 391 displacement and still a push rod designed engine. With the exhaust system in my car , atak, there is no problem hearing the engine song or drone of the v8.

It's just amazing how fast these cars are when you consider that they are a thousand pounds heavier than the 1970 Challenger. And how nice driving. I had a 1970 Challenger with a 340 and it would beat your guts out!!

As Scotty said OP, if you want to keep that car a long time, you better change the oil religiously and transmission fluid at their scheduled intervals. If you can do some of the work yourself and save a bunch of money do it. For the more complex repairs find a person with a dealer level scan tool who won't rip you off.

@@tw7513 it’s amazing!!! As any other hemi, the performance is at its top best when in sport mode and controlled with the paddle shifters. Each time I shift it I am amazed at how crisp it is. I’m gonna need some Mickey Thompson slicks soon because when I punch it on first gear, I slide all the way through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. I hope you get it!! It’s worth it!

I would consider a manual depressing a clutch pedal with your left foot and shifting gears with your right arm. That is a sharp looking Challenger I have a 2010 in detonator yellow 6-speed manual SRT8

My buddy has a yellow jacket challenger, and are beautiful machines. I've also got an SRT8, but mine is a 2010 in black granite crystal with the 6.1 Hemi and is a total blast to drive. I think that 2012 is the first year for the Yellow Jackets, if I'm not mistaken and love them Mopars 👍🏼. He's wrong on the Nappa leather though when he said that his car is the only one with it, but all SRT8 have it. The only difference between his car and another 392 SRT8, is the paint color and stripe. I think that it's awesome they put the battery in the trunk away from the heat of the engine bay, and didn't have to replace mine until about 2 years ago. It was the original and have never had a battery last that long. I know that Scotty likes to diss Chrysler products, but mine has been a great car and the only problem that I've had was an alternator at the same time as the battery. But the powertrain and suspension has been excellent as well as the electrical etc, so say what you will but my experience has been good all around and puts big smiles on faces when ya punch it. I've got line lock on her and all of the basic engine mods, but am getting ready to install a thumping cam in her and then she will really rock em

Well the old Chrysler challengers had hydraulic oil steering. The newer Fiat challengers have electric steering.

The owners manual says to use Mobile 1. I try and use that, but last oil change I used Royal Purple. And my weight is 0W-40 synthetic. Thanks for asking. :-)

Good I'm happy you made that choice, since its actually the only real synthetic at Walmart, I'll be switching next oil change. That engine will probably last forever! I'd rather get this car over a Hellcat any day!

I still do like Hellcat's- (and Demon's) but at the time this was the top dog, and I really didn't need the extra power. I like the way it looks and that it does 12 naturally aspirated. I can always add later if I want. :-) But thank you very much. Have a great weekend!
