Brought a GTX 1650 from CEX not long ago, ended getting a OC ASUS variant of the card: increasing performance quite a decent amount for no extra cost. If you set your expectation to get the worst variant of the GPU: you will either not be disappointed or be quite happy.

The fact that the 1070 can hold it's own after so many years shows how much of beast the card still is especially given how it has more than double the ram of it's predecessor.

As someone with a 1070 Strix, I'm looking forward to more 1070 videos, perhaps some comparisons to newer cards when it comes to considering what to upgrade to considering it's pretty safe to say that the 10 series is pretty much at the end of it's lifespan looking at minimum/recomended specs for new AAA games such as Starfield and Alan Wake 2 for more recent examples with Starfield having the 1070 Ti as minimum so the non ti 1070 would fail to meet minimum and same with Alan Wake 2 with a RTX 2060 being the minimum for 1080p 30 fps on the low preset and the 2060 would be at least a slight bump up from the 1070 for performance. When it comes to what to upgrade to I was advised to target a 2080 Ti, 3060 Ti, 3070 or 6700 XT/6750 XT to upgrade from my 1070 for like $300 to $350 CAD (Roughly 178 to 208 GBP according to google currency conversion.)
@cosmy7083
@cosmy7083 Жыл бұрын
Yesterday was my last time with my 1070 after 6-7 years and I can say that it was a pleasure but it had to end. I decided to not go kamikaze on the budget and give AMD a chance and I don't regret it. So I bought a RX 5700 XT for 120$ and sold the 1070 for the same amount. Imagine that it gave me the 2X performance on literally all games and on 1440p. I did some research and found out that on the Nvidia chart is placed between rtx 3060 and 3060 ti without upscaling ( depends on the game, sometimes can be under them ). This card after 4 years after release still has some ass to kick on the second hand market as price/performance. So imagine how the performance will be if you go straight to something higher like a 2080 Ti, 3070, 6700/6750 XT. If I have to choose one I would be totally fine with either one of those but if I'm thinking about the future and the VRAM problem I can see that 8 GB VRAM wouldn't be enough soon...so at least I would raise the 300& to 400$ and start to look at RX 6800 16GB or the RTX 3080 10GB/12GB. Just to be sure that I don't need to upgrade so often in the nearest future just for 100$ difference. If you still want to stick with the 300$ then just go with the RTX 3070/3070 Ti. Your happiness will skyrocket either way limited or not by the VRAM in the most demanding games.

I used to work at CEX during the GPU prices skyrocketing, because it took a few weeks for prices to be readjusted, i was able to snag a 2080 that had been traded in during the midst of the chip shortage for mega cheap, granted after working there for a year i dont think i would ever buy anything again, we all had little jokes and sayings about other stores around the country and their reputation, some did their jobs of testing and making sure things were working prior REALLY well, others did an absolute horrendous job, its extremely hit or miss

Excellent video, a fairly new subscriber here and I'm loving the content, im also a fan of pushing old hardware as I'm a bit of a skinflint, the current pc I'm tinkering with was free from work and is a Lenovo M720s. I5 6 CORE, 8gb ddr4 and a 256gb ssd. With it being low profile it has the front panel and lid taken off to fit a 4gb Radeon 550 pulse graphics card. I'm quite surprised what i can get it run at 60fps but my monitor which was also free runs at 1600/900. All fun anyway and you should give Digital foundry a shoutout as it was on the weekly show that Richard leadbetter mentioned your channel. Many thanks, Chris Nearly forgot to mention, I've got that Msi graphics card in a shoebox in garage lol.

Here's a weird question I would love to ask (if OK,) is why are graphics card drivers specfic? For example could you use a 4090 drive on a 3070? Or a GTX 1080 driver on an GTX 1060? I understand about cross company (I.e not running a GTX card driver on and AMD card,) but same company drivers? Is that really necessary? PS. I am guessing SLAW is Coleslaw? Tesco do some really nice seasonal sandwiche meal deals, too. Not a fan of Squares, myself, I prefer Monster Much or Quavers. But the innocent smoothie looks real nice. CEX in Australia is all over the place, on one hand I've seen them sell Pokemon HeartGold mint condition for $500, and another time a Nintendo Wii console for $30 Their used GPU prices aren't all that great too, could buy a used GTX 1080 for the same price as two RX6600s

Ive been out of the PC building scene a while now but I think CEX is a lot better than what people make it out to be. I liked buying CPUs off CEX as you know exactly what you are going to get. GPUs can be a bit more hit or miss.

Mate, that is a shocking meal deal. You seriously need to up your game. Been subbed a long time man, you would've lost me if it wasn't for the squares jk lol. Also, £5 for a meal deal? It's £3.40 at Tesco.

You just have to test the two of these together at some point. Yeah, the CPU will be the bottleneck, but it still could be interesting.

The anti-tamper seal @5:59 says "2023-7", so almost certainly placed there by CEX. So impossible to say what was or wasn't done inside by CEX or any previous owners.

Officially the best model of 1070's around, insanely overbuilt power delivery and MSI's cooling on the card is unprecedented. I have one and you can push them so far.

G'day Random, I love my RX580Gaming+ & GTX1080Ti GamingX with this cooler, it works really well & is Super Quiet even on 30°C-40°C days. My RX580 Boosts to 1421MHz & will sit there all day no problem, my 1080Ti while MSI claim 1657MHz actually Self Boosts to 1974MHz without an OC & will easily top 2000MHz with an OC. Ps Although I have never thought to use them for PC parts & not sure how they compare price wise, we have had CEX down here in Australia for 11yrs now. They started in New South Wales expanding to Queensland + Australian Capital Territory with almost 30 stores.

Damn ASUS really hooked it up with the ROG board and the 14900K, looks you won't be running into any CPU bottlenecks any time soon xD also today using parts that a friend gave me last year I put together a little system with a 4790 and a 1070. Watching this on it actually

Just wanted to add in regards to the witcher 3 next gen, if ur not using RT dx11 mode will net u an even smoother more consistent experience with a higher frame average to boot.

I've always found CEX to be pretty good, I admit their prices are a wee bit high but that 2 year warranty, and never had an issue with anything I've ever got from them.

GTX 1070: 137% i9 14900K: *yawns* I do miss my 1070 Gaming X. One of the worst decisions I made was selling it so I could use a Cougar QBX case. Ditching my $400 GPU that was going to hold up for several more years so I could use a $50 plastic case with thermal issues so bad that I had gotten rid of it within 6 months. Good call on that one.

Cex sent me a cpu wrapped up in a paper bag!When I took it back the guy said I'll have to test it before I can pay you.The fact that all the pins where bent was totally beyond him.Same with a contaminated hard drive they sent me.
