No competition between this and the F8 in terms of driving dynamics. I had a 488 Spider before 720S Spider and the Mclaren is superior in terms of steering feel, ride, body rigidity, transmission, and in another galaxy as far as speed! The 488 was very disappointing in terms of how much flex it had in the chassis..... it’s honestly no better than other convertibles that cost 1/4 of its price and the steering has no feel compared to the Mclaren. I won’t go down the rabbit hole of discussing reliablity (mine has been pretty much perfect) or resale value that everyone immediately wants to bring up in any Mclaren review, but as far as just engineering and driving experience I don’t know how anyone could claim the Ferrari even holds a candle to the 720S.

Recommend you read "Competitive Strategy" by Prof Michael Porter to understand the path that McLaren have been on. The F8 is more a competitor for a McLaren 600 imo; the 720 is at least one step up, without even getting into the antique chassis/suspension and (personal opinion about) styling of the Ferrari. For those of us that actually drive these things, there's a great review in Car & Driver September 2019 as to why I'd ONLY buy a McLaren. In that incident, the car flow nearly 300 feet down a cliff and both passengers were uninjured: a floppy Ferrari with its pasta chassis would have folded after the first impact.

HI Harry, re previous comments about your test route I did it today in my SLK55, I loved it. Swooping curves, many undulations and changes of camber, blind rises, hidden bends, all in all a great road and perfect for testing I’d say. Yes it’s bumpy in places but this is the U.K. and roads are bumpy but no potholes (which is more than I can say about the Cirencester to Burford road, it’s a disgrace, thousands of pounds of suspension work awaiting you), great for suspension testing (the SLK handled the compression perfectly btw). Unfortunately having followed it to the end I got lost in a maze of road closures and ended up in Woodstock! Hey ho, I had a brilliant day out top down in the very warm sunshine. I’ll watch your vids with extra attention from now on. V Best TonyS

Interesting review of the 720S on the road. Thanks. Would have been interested to know more about what it is like on track where it's possible to utilise the performance more fully. When I looked into this car I found that the warranty/maintenance package excluded "on track" use which rather negated the point of the car unless you have near unlimited financial resources to pour into ownership.

Seatbelt Clips... They take their time designing and building a stunning car with state of the art componenets but they install really cheap looking seatbelt clips into the car.. I am so tempted to phone McLaren and ask "why?". Makes no sense at all to me .. let's hope someone has an eureka moment... Thank you for taking your time to review this car .... Excellent as always...

Love Harry but no. 11:55 "everything is unique... " Nope. This car has Nissan engine (modified OFC), Ricardo gearbox and they produce engine as well. Until recently not even carbon fiber was made by them - Carbo Tech from Austria. Same with most electronics. And the list goes on.

Never liked these when they came out, but have changed my mind, has the power the lambo doesn't just have being NA, has great steering and amazing chassis, and cheaper than the other supercars but just as good if not better, just not a fan of how it looks and when your paying that much money you want something you like, but then when your driving it and having that much fun who cares right!
