A few comments:- 1. The doors take up no more space than a normal doors. In 8 years of McLaren ownership I have never had an issue parking and not being able to get in or out. 2. The lift shortcut was available on all McLaren's, including the 12C 3. If suspension is too stiff in sport, then the accumulators probably need replacing. They last 3-4 years. 4. The initial problem with that car was not the cars fault but a sloppy mechanic. 5. Buy with McLaren warranty for 1 year, then not necessary. Servicing around £500 pa at V engineering and mpg in the 30's (p11 cars anyway, 720 does use more) My 675LT will do 40mpg on a m-way and thats not in roadworks but at 75mph. They are not that expensive to own. 6. It is a supercar, it is not a 911, don't expect Porsche levels of refinement. You buy a McLaren because it's the ultimate performance, drivers car, not for the stereo sound or motorway crusing sound levels. But they are fine, just dont judge them on the same level as an exec saloon.
@HarmlessssАй бұрын
What about in parking spaces? or tight car parks ? or inbetween two cars?
@bispalАй бұрын
@Harmlessss no problem at all. When the doors are open you don't have an apature that is reduced by the door thickness and they are designed to open in tight spaces. I've never had an issue. 3 door cars (hatchback and coupes) are much worse as they have long doors. The only issue parking is the turning circle, which is not as tight as a 'normal' car so a 3 point turn is a 5 point turn

I am lucky enough to own a recently purchased 4 year old 992 Turbo S Cabriolet,. Coming back from a 'Boys' trip to Germany, via the Autobahn, the Nürburgring, Porsche and MB museums [all brilliant] I averaged round trip 27.8mpg, and on the motorway trundle back from Malmedy in Belgium to Warwick, nearly 400 miles on 1 tank, 33.4mpg. yes it's not the best exhaust sound and it has a fair bit of tyre noise [on UK roads at least] but 2 year or 20,000 mile service intervals with the bigger one every 4 years costing about £2,000 [rather than that every year on the McLaren I think] and a genuine factory 2 year warranty for about £2,000 [that's total, not per year]. plenty of luggage space, etc, Yes it has a slightly slower Top speed, [on that front, I bottled out at about 160mph] and is not as good looking and I did look at the McLaren range before buying the 911 but simply could not bring myself to risk spending hard earned money on what is going to cost regardless of 'faults' a huge amount more than the 911 annually and always with the thought in the back of my mind, what's going to let me down next [I have a Range Rover SVR that does that to me enough anyway] but what a great review as always. keep up the good work.

Some thoughts, prompted by Jay's multiple videos featuring this car ... [1] A company that's supposedly as devoted to engineering as McLaren, really SHOULD do better. Yes, it's amazing when it works. But it should work more often. Especially given the price tag McLaren attach to new cars. Yes, Ferrari have some issues to address, but have mostly covered the important ones. If you're trying to compete with Ferrari, you need to exercise diligence on multiple fronts, and that's what McLaren is doing with these cars, just as it is in F1 - competing with Ferrari. [2] The model lineup needs some rationalising. Added distinctiveness between models is in some cases ling overdue. Another area Ferrari have covered, namely maintaining a recognisable "house style" but still injecting decent levels of distinctiveness into key models. You'll never mistake an Enzo for a F12 Berlinetta, for example. [3] Even if my Euro Millions numbers came up tomorrow, no way would I try operating a McLaren as a daily driver. For that matter, I'd think long and hard about buying one to begin with, given what I've seen befall Jay with this one. [4] However, if McLaren fix key issues, and make these both emotionally appealing AND as safe for your cold, rational head as a supercar is ever going to be, my view will change accordingly. Improve the gaps between downtime, be more competitive on maintenance costs, and these will become *immensely* desirable. Thrill wise, they tickle all the right erogenous zones. [4] Someone *really* needs to write a book telling prospective owners what they're in for, so that newcomers go in with their eyes open. Failing that, will someone with money send Jay a crate of vintage Bollinger as a reward for his public service here? [5] If the bods at McLaren are reading this ... LISTEN to him. Jay is handing you free advice that a consultant would only hand over, in exchange for four grand per hour fees. Save yourselves a packet and take notes. [6] Yet despite the issues ... yes. The part of me with a soft spot for road going spaceships says "more of these please". Just screw them together a bit better, and toss in more style differences between models in future. A car company that can turn heads like this deserves to be properly run, and have a decent future. If I do ever have one, make mine metallic blue. For some reason, every time I've seen a McLaren body shell, it's *always* looked best in blue. Orange is, in my view, a *bad* choice of colour for these cars.

I know that there is less engine vibration at idle & better cold running, in my wife's little Renault using E5 despite the engine ecu programmed for E10. I understand that E5 petrol is getting difficult to find in Ireland, & as E5 was only guaranteed to be available for five or six years from when E10 was introduced in England I would expect the same to happen here. Alternatively is there any development on alternative fuels? I know Porsche & ExxonMobil were jointly developing this, but with Porsche apparently concentrating on electric power for the European markets, is this indicative of problems with higher powered machines using it?

There is no perfect car because we all have different taste! As for mac reliability ferarri are still pumping out lemons like the 812! Considering mac has only been around for less than 2 decades i think they build THE BEST sports/supercars! The 6oolt 675lt 765lt are masterpieces! And they are the best looking cars as well! I do love the huracan looks wise but down on power! I love the merc gt black and the mustang gtd as front engine sports/supercars! But mac 765lt with carbon tub and its light weight hydrolic steering best suspension and raw power and a stunning looks makes it the best supercar you can buy! It is true if you drive a mac along side any other supercar you will get out of the 765lt and get out your bank account! And mac are up top in f1 aa well! If you want my money bring a mac 765lt out of the showroom and ill buy it! My garage is a huracan with vf supercharger a 765lt a gt black series and a nustang gtd! 2 front engine and 2 rear mid engine machines! God bless all🙏🩵

I sure you could daily drive one of these but wouldn’t that just dull the enjoyment? I used to daily drive a Honda NSX, another car that was legendary for its usability. It was absolutely faultless, however I enjoy it more now I keep it for special occasions.

I was surprised myself. A few people suggested the car may have had an issue but it had recently been thoroughly inspected so you'd hope something like that would have been flagged

500 odd mostly negative comments of which perhaps one one person has actually owned a McLaren never mind driven or ridden in one… oh yes, the joys of YT keyboard warriors 🤦🏻♂️

😂I was about to say the same thing.. most of the liked comments are negative comments, very opinionated people on something they can never fathom because they’ll never afford.
@PevsnerOGАй бұрын
It's pretty funny. All these comments are based on zero personal experience. I've owned 6 McLarens and none of them have broken down. Yes they have issues but all cars at this level do. I've also owned Ferrari and Lambo and the only time I've been actually stranded and needed a break down truck was in a Ferrari. Perhaps I should go on every Ferrari video and say how shit they are, which of course they aren't. Don't know why this bloke is talking about how tricky getting out of the door is, it's easy peasy, does don't open any wider than a normal door.

Why would you buy one of these when a 911 Turbo S is just as fast, handles as well, breaks down less often, has more space, and costs ~$100k less new? Yes, the McLaren will depreciate faster, but there are good reasons for that.

First, these guidelines for comments should only be suggested by someone’s great grandmother. Secondly, the cognitive dissonance I experience at the idea of spending north of a quarter million pounds for a vehicle with so many foibles and even more defects. Well, it’s just ridiculous you would not except a Honda prelude with half these problems and the Honda wouldn’t release one like that either. Lol.😂😮
